The Duchess arriving.
The Henry Fawcett Children's Centre provides a range of support, information, advice and an array of learning programmes and play opportunities for children under the age of five.
Their schedule includes Chatterbox, a play session focused on developing speech and language skills. Classes and sessions for parents are a central part of their work. Confident Mums offers advice on building healthy relationships. Intro To Solids offers weaning advice and ESOL provides a créche for children whilst parents avail of English classes. Their community based approach aims to offer vital support in all areas of parenting and caring for children.
More from the Mail Online:
'As she arrived at the centre for her low-key visit, Kate was taken into a briefing session with a number of the partners involved in the services. She peppered them with questions about the issue of a stigma in seeking help, to how parents were able to find out about the services on offer.
She was particularly interested in discussing the issue of 'attachment' between parents and their children and finding ways to stress the importance of it. 'The education around attachment I believe is fascinating,' she said. 'I knew very little about this. Are parents and families aware of the importance around attachment?'
Kate saw how the Lambeth Early Action Partnership (LEAP) are using the Parent and Infant Relationship Service (PAIRS) to support parents, carers and their children.
LEAP aims to transform the lives of babies and children in the four Lambeth wards of Coldharbour, Stockwell, Tulse Hill and Vassall.
Their goal is to make Lambeth the best place it can be for children to grow up. Their programmes cover social and emotional development, diet and nutrition and communication and language. They work closely with caregivers and social workers to tailor services to the needs of the community.
LEAP is funded by A Better Start, a major 10-year funding initiative from the National Lottery Community Fund. The Duchess met service providers involved in delivering 'A Better Start' in Blackpool last week.
The Palace said the visit continue's Kate's focus on early years.
Kate is always very much in her element when working with children.
She clearly loved every moment spent meeting little ones at a play group.
Kate joined parents and toddlers participating in sessions offered by LEAP and PAIRS, called ‘Circle of Security’ and ‘Together Time’, to see different examples of what is available as part of the programme. Circle of Security is one of two universal programmes that is offered to all parents with children of 0 to 4 years. It helps parents and care givers better understand their child’s emotions, as well as supporting their child’s ability to successfully manage their own emotions and enhance the development of their child’s self-esteem.
Kate told other parents Louis is "bombing around" in his walker. More from People:
“Louis just wants to pull himself up all the time,” Kate told fellow parents. “He has got these little walkers and is bombing around in them.”
A mom named Kriti, who was at the center with her 9-month-old son Kameron, swapped stories with the royal about their little ones. Kriti told reporters, “She took one look at Kameron and said, ‘Oh, he wants to go walkies.’ Apparently her son is cruising, and she said she was running after him all the time.”
During Tuesday’s visit, Kate also met two sets of twins: Kamina and Kashay, 23 months and Noah and Charlie, 17 months. She asked the girls’ mother, Finesse, about her experience of having twins. “I told her, ‘double the trouble’ and she laughed,” the mom shared.
Finesse, 31, who has a 12-year-old daughter and a 2-year-old son in addition to her young twins, said Kate was interested in finding out how the center had helped her. “I told her that I felt very isolated, and how much it had supported me,” she explained. “It enabled me to meet other mums and twins, which has been incredibly helpful. In fact, I feel like I have got triplets given that I have a two-year-old as well. They are really little divas in the making!”
“She was just lovely, really down to earth. I never thought she would come down and sit with us, but she did,” Finesse said. “She just wanted to chat about what it was like to be a mum. She said that we all had our ups and downs as parents, regardless of who we are.”
The video below features plenty of great footage of Kate playing with the tots.
Kate wore Gucci's 'violet orchid' Pussy Bow Silk Crepe Blouse (with thanks to Middleton Maven). The £790 piece is described as: "Gucci's blouse is designed in a beautiful purple hue that is so fresh for the season - especially if you tend to wear darker colors. Cut from fluid silk-crepe, this style has a loose silhouette and features fabric-covered buttons that run down the back."
Several readers noted the button placement on Kate's is different, it does appear the Duchess wore the piece backwards.
It's available at Net-A-Porter, My Theresa and Nordstrom.
Kate's trousers are by Jigsaw. It appears they are the same pair she wore in Cyprus in December.
Below, the navy £130 High Waisted Sport Luxe Trousers.
The Duchess carried her lilac Aspinal of London Midi Mayfair Bag. The £495 croc bag is described as: "Encapsulating timeless vintage-inspired styling, our Midi Mayfair Bag is hand-crafted from the finest deep shine croc print Italian calf leather. Both versatile and luxurious, the structured boxy design features three inner compartments secured with our enduring shield lock clasp. What's more, sumptuous leather complements any outfit, and makes an exquisite transitional piece from day to night. The flawless finish of the leather's rich, glassy shine and the shimmering grosgrain lining give this accessory a truly elegant feel."
The Duchess debuted a new pair of black suede block heel pumps today. Regalfile and UFO No More suggest they are the Gianvito Rossi Piper 85 pumps.
And completed the look with her Links of London Hope Egg earrings.
Kate first wore the earrings in 2010 for the official engagement portraits.
We'll see the Duchess at The 2019 Portrait Gala at the National Portrait Gallery tonight.
Just WOW!!!! Totally love this uncommon look!
ReplyDeleteFederica
Yup yup, me too!!! Very chic and perfect for getting onto the floor with toddlers. I loved her happiness when the little one in yellow started "dancing" and her eyes just lit up. =) Very fun.
DeleteWhile I love her in dresses the most, it's such a fun change to see her in pants!
ReplyDeleteI agree. I'm 100% a dress and skirt person so I totally understand her leaning towards that style for her work but it's always fun seeing her in a slightly different look (without looking like someone else dressed her without her input!) and she looks very good in trousers!
DeleteI feel the same. I like that she doesn't wear trousers often because it's always a fab surprise when she does. I also think from a selfish fashion watching perspective trousers all the time can be a bit dull and repetitive so it's fun to follow Kate as she favours dresses and skirts.
DeleteI also love that she doesn't wear trousers or suits often.
DeleteI have no value one way or another on her wearing skirts or trousers. That's just up to her taste. What I was trying to say was that on myself, I only wear skirts and dresses, out of my own preference, so I've always understood Kate's preference for skirts and dresses and coats :)
DeleteI feel the same. I live that these trousers are so full. I actually thought she was wearing a long skirt for a second. I just love the flow of these.
DeleteOoohhh...I saw a full body photo on IG and I LOVE this look, it has a “Queen Letizia of Spain vibe” that I‘ve bene longing to see on Kate!
ReplyDeleteYes!
DeleteExactly
DeleteI agree. =)
DeleteGreat engagement and I'm so happy to be able to follow Kates work in this area!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice look! A bit un-her but still very her with the sleeves and necktie. A nice balance between professional and princessy! And what a flashback to hear about Kate and Jigsaw again! Love this pairing with the bag!
Yes, Jigsaw - that’s a blast from the past!!
DeleteSpeaking of blasts from the past, it’s great to see those Hope Egg earrings again. They’re one of my favourite pieces in her jewellery collection :)
DeleteI know right, Kiwi! Makes me feel all nostalgic!!
DeleteShe wears those earrings a lot when she is out and about in London - seen her wearing them with casual off-duty clothes when pushing the pram in the park.
Delete@Anonymous: that's good to know she wears them out and about! The earrings are much too lovely to be locked away in a jewellery box.
DeleteLove this casually stylish look!
ReplyDeleteI love it! The color of the top, the pants!! She looks great!
ReplyDeleteGreat color on her! Reminds me of that great lilac dress.
ReplyDeleteYes! This has to be one of the loveliest colors in the rainbow.
DeleteLove this look! Reminds me of Queen Rania of Jordan!
ReplyDeleteOh I hadn't thought of that.....so true! She's so elegant and modest!
DeleteWhat a spot-on observation!
DeleteReminds me of Meghan!
DeleteHonestly, reminds me of basically any woman in a buissness-style including Mary and Victoria and Meghan and Rania and Letizia and Silvia and multitudes of non-royals. It's a quite standard (but pretty, it's popular for a reason!) office style look.
DeleteTrue Rebecca, but let's be honest, in the last x years, I can't recall such business type clothing from Kate. But nice to see her trying some new options.
DeleteIt kind of reminds you of anybody but...Kate. 😉
DeleteWasn't someone recently complaining that Kate wore too many skirt-suits? Can't get any more business-type clothing than that.
DeleteLovely to see those earrings again! Sleek and subtle, I love how dainty her jewellery is!
ReplyDeleteI agree! I personally think it is one of her better looks. I love how she wore the bow at a different length.
ReplyDeleteI have those earrings - wear them often, they go with a lot! :)
ReplyDeletehmm great color hmm its reminds me the old classic look before duchess of Cambridge in her early when she dating prince william back to her business she natural thing speaking and enrage people life
ReplyDeleteGorgeous and different.
ReplyDeleteShe can wear anything and look beautiful.
While I love the blouse, I think it doesn't work with those trousers (too big) which is not flatering for Kate shape.
ReplyDeleteOmg love love love!!
ReplyDeleteAll the repeat pieces are some of my favourites so I am very happy seeing all these pieces again (earrings, trousers, bag). Love the colour and design of the Gucci shirt but not loving the price tag so much.
ReplyDeleteThe trousers were a great idea as she is getting down on the floor with the parents and children.
For me this look is reminiscent of Crown Princess Mary of Denmark which is a good thing!
I don't like the overly large pants, but otherwise it's a hit.
ReplyDeleteShe is wearing Gucci again? Well, well..
ReplyDeleteYeah... not the greatest choice..
Delete@Anett: Well, well...what exactly?
DeleteCatherine is wearing Gucci like so many other people. Just like Cate Blanchett at The National Theatre last week. Just like Shonda Rhimes and John Legend at the VF Oscar Party. Same as Bradley Cooper at the Oscars. Also like Florence Welch at The Brit Awards. Ditto Andrew Garfield, Saoirse Ronan, Salma Hayek and Gia Coppola Front Row at Guccci at Milan Fashion Week, Dakota Johnson at the Indie Spirit Awards, Thandie Newton's daughter, Nico Parker, at the 'Dumbo' premiere a few days ago. The list goes on.
She is a royal right? Not a celebrity, as it was discussed before. Also the optics is not good, as was also discussed before.
DeleteI think her optic is fine. the focus should be on the event not the designer she's wearing, she's appropriately dressed as always. some will find anything to nit pick.
DeleteSunny, I don't know half the people you mention but I see your point. Nobody seems to be harping on Gucci's past error; IMO they handled it very well and had a constructive reaction to criticism. Time to move on.
Delete@Anett: Again, what exactly is your point? Gucci made a mistake, removed the product, apologised sincerely and responded proactively. People have moved on. I suggest you do too.
DeleteThanks Sunny. I will move on when I feel like to.
DeleteTo me the point is she is wearing a designer top for a regular day event. Not sure how ‘justifiable’ it is - given that, unlike Cate Blachett and other celebrities listed, she receiveds regularly funding from the British public (even if the specific wardrobe funding comes from Charles’ Duchy). If they want to convey the message that they are ‘down to earth and just like us’, wearing such an expensive top is miss aligned with that message. In particular when in Britain there is so much uncertainty and concern with Brexit. This applies to all royals. Given how extensive and expensive a wardrobe Catherine already has, she would be (in my respectful opinion) well positioned to drive this message of a little restraint, without having to repeat a lot. I believe that would go a long way to further increase her popularity and a perception of mindfulness and understanding. No one would suggest she stops spending altogether, but I concur that it seems hard to rationalize this kind of spending for this particular event.
DeleteAnd I say that with a lot of admiration for who she is and how she applies herself to her role.
Liv
I agree Liv. Spending right now is not a good idea. On the other hand, it seems uncharacteristic of Kate, she does rewear a lot,and usually wears high street for this kind of engagements. IMO she is one of the most careful and restrained royals. This outfit is unusual for her.
DeleteAnonymous12 March 2019 at 19:45...What makes you think she bought the blouse for this event only? She can wear the blouse again...not just for this event you know.
DeleteLiv, if I just look at this blouse, I completely agree with you. I just can’t imagine forking out that much for a blouse - which is probably the point, if Kate had to count each pound out, instead of charging it to the palace, maybe she would also balked at the price.
DeleteCombining it with JCrew pants and a pair of shoes that she will probably wear for the next two years (we all know Kate likes to get her money’s worth from shoes) improves the optics a bit. Add a reworked evening gown to it and the bigger picture start too look a lot better.
Since returning from maternity leave Kate has done fairly well at keeping it interesting and managing her budget.
Liv, I agree it's an expensive blouse, but I think she balanced it out with re-worn trousers, jewelry and handbag. I agree there's a lot of uncertainty but I firmly believe she shows restraint in the fashion department (ie she also had a mcQueen gown reworked for tonight). It's a fine balance and I think she accomplishes this balance rather well.
DeleteGreat look today! I for one am happy to see something besides skinny jeans when she doesn't wear a dress or skirt.
ReplyDeleteWow great to see Kate mixing her styles She looks fantastic as always Great event too These type of events brings the best out of Kate
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT!!! Colour, style...everything! Perfect for the occasion.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, love the lilac on her and that handbag is lovely
ReplyDeleteSilvia
While I love the blouse, I think it doesn't work with those trousers (too big) which is not flatering for Kate shape.
ReplyDeleteI agree (I basically said the same thing below). I don’t think these trousers work for Kate’s body shape. They remind me of the style Meghan wears sometimes.
DeleteI agree. The colour of the blouse is beautiful.
DeleteWhilst I love the blouse, I really don’t like these trousers paired with it. Initially, I thought she was wearing a black pencil skirt; even a slightly flared skirt would look great.
ReplyDeleteA skirt would not have been quite undignified whilst playing with children on the floor. Catherine always dresses appropriately for the event and presents herself with such grace & decorum.
DeleteAnon 14:34, you’ve got a point. I just don’t like these trousers lol
DeleteAgreed Kiwi Gal - didn't like them the first time either and dislike them even more now!
DeleteI just had a quick look at some photos on Twitter and this might be my favourite Kate event fot the year. Kate playing with babies are so adorable.
ReplyDeleteGreat look!!! I’ll be back for full post. Thanks, Charlotte.
ReplyDeleteOh what a nice departure for Kate! Love to see her in dress pants for a change. She's lovely in the violet color. It's great but would have like it a wee bit better had the tie on the blouse had been tied around her neck again as in the fashion picture. It wouldn't have been so loose looking since since the pants wide legged. Just a suggestion.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of this outfit. The pants a tiny bit too wide though. She will improve wearing trousers more often.
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty - and FUN!
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone else think that Kate may be growing her hair longer again? It looks the longest it has been in years!
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree. When it was long in the past, I thought she should cut it. Then she cut it and I missed the length! Now I am happy to see it getting longer. She has such beautiful hair.
DeleteLove these pants! Very professional look for a lovely engagement 👏🏻
ReplyDeleteLove her work and outfit except that the trousers are way too long; she's walking on them; and that is a safety hazard, too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful from top to toe.
ReplyDeleteHair is stunning... now please keep it like that for this evening... don't clip it back.
p.s. I would also love to see Kate is some less wide trousers (somewhere inbetween these and the skinny jeans)!
Kate looks absolutely stunning today.
ReplyDeleteLove this look. The purple is beautiful. Reminds me of CP Mary. I’ve always wanted to see the Duchess of Cambridge in pants for some of her less formal engagements.
ReplyDeleteYASSSSS pants!!!!! She looks like SUCH a future queen- I could see this easily on Letzia, Rania, or Mary. WELL DONE, KATE! Agree with previous posters who said they like that she doesn't wear trousers often because when she does it is SUCH a treat! Can't wait for more pictures!
ReplyDeleteI think the color of the blouse is very flattering AND it compliments her handbag beautifully. She looks beautiful as always! However, I don't think the value of this look in any way equals the price tag. The first photo of the post shows the buttons on the cuff facing forward. I once had a seamstress that shortened the sleeves on a blouse and put the cuff back on backwards. I'm not sure if that's what happened here, or if the cuffs just twisted around, but again, should that happen on a blouse that's over $1k?
ReplyDeleteI think she has the blouse on backwards, hence why the button cuffs are facing forward. But nonetheless, she looks stunning as always from head to toe. It endears her to me even more because we can all relate to that.
DeleteThe cuffs on Kate’s blouse are indeed facing the opposite way from those on the model! I wonder what Kate thought when she noticed them.
DeleteI have to agree about the price.
DeleteI absolutely love the outfit and Kate has been doing very well with repeats and high street, but that is still a heavy pricetag for a blouse. At least the pants were not designer as well.
Love the outfit, particularly the blouse; but noticed right away, the cuffs looked odd; then saw the model wearing it the right way; either she didn't know how to put it on-- which I bet makes her howl with laughter; OR she didn't like the look of the buttons down the back-- also buttons on the back can be very uncomfortable; would love to know what HER thoughts are on this!
DeleteShe has the blouse on backward. Look at the buttons down the front -- that's supposed to be the back. Not sure why, but she must have liked it better that way!
DeleteI think she may well have meant to put it on backwards! I do it all the time....on purpose! Scoop neck t shirts suddenly become a slash neck at the front and low backed and I seldom wear hats the same way round twice!
DeleteIt does appear as if the blouse is being worn backwards. The sleeve cuffs are turned opposite of the model, which would not be the case if this was a bespoke piece. Bring a flow-y top, there are no darts so I guess it could be worn either way?
DeleteYaaaaaaay some pants! Just not these pants...
ReplyDeleteHer hair = hair goals
Does she have the shirt on backwards? The photos show that she has buttons in the front whereas the shirt’s buttons go down the back. Love the look though!
ReplyDeleteI don't think Kate's blouse has buttons in the front. The ties on the bow come down really low, and covers where buttons would be, though. Lovely colour to make one think of spring, making Kate a breath of fresh air today!
DeleteYep
DeleteSomebody on instagram notice it too and I think it's backwards. Maybe she does not like the back buttons. Still looks great ;)
DeleteI think it's backwards, too. I like the buttons better in back, but the blouse is really gorgeous! As it should be, since it costs $1,000! Oh my!
DeleteI am with Kate, buttons should not be on the back.
DeleteWith long hair, having buttons in the back is not a good idea, because strands get twisted around them. TRUST me. Even a single button keyhole in the back of a blouse or the trend of buttons on the shoulder are a problem!
DeleteHer blouse has buttons in the front. Could she be wearing the blouse with the back in the front, or had one custom made? Regardless, the beautiful color harkens the hope that Spring is around the corner!
ReplyDeleteRobbie, I believe you are right! Oh my not only the buttons but look at the cuffs. It looks like she has it on backwards.
DeleteOMG!!! Yes, I love this look!! Absolutely!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
ReplyDeleteThe kiddies are adorable! I'm in the minority but I don't like this style of trousers on Kate. Maybe they look better in person. However, I love the color of the blouse, the bag and her hair. It was a practical outfit choice for playing with kids.
ReplyDeleteI love this look! Kate looks so pretty! A pussy bow shirt never goes out of style! I like the color of it and the buttons on the back, but it doesn't look like it should be $1300, but it's Gucci and she's royalty so...enough said. Also, I'm glad she wore the Hope Egg earrings; they have always been one of my favorites. I have a similar pair.
ReplyDeleteYour comment on the $1300 is my feelings exactly. It seems expensive, but she is royalty so enough said. I feel the same way about the comments on Meghan's expensive clothing. She is royalty and that is what I expect. It is one of the things that makes them different than the average person.
DeleteI just love Kate's interaction with the children. That little girl with the pigtails looks like she has a twin. Just too much adorableness!!!!
DeleteThose twin girls were adorable! & so active :)
DeleteWhat a beautiful look, what elegance, whaouh !!! The trousers, the blouse are superb, I love the colour !!! And what a beautiful engagement with the children, Kate is radiant !!! Beautiful pictures !!!
ReplyDeleteI was so stoked to see her waring pants! I love the blouse on her, such a flattering color. The earing's are always nice to see her wearing. I think the pants come across better in person, in the video you can see they have a lot of movement. in some of the photos they are just stagnant and wide. I do think she would be better served with a bit more of a tailored leg, NOT skinny but just not as flared, would really be great for her silhouette. love the purse and those shoes are one of my favorites. I love seeing kate play with babies!! Thanks Charlotte
ReplyDeleteA lot of comments about what someone else would like Kate to dress. She is selecting great clothes, adequate for the function she attends, not wrinkled, not hugely out-priced. More important she comes across as honestly interested and respectful to the people and occasion.
ReplyDeleteLooking at the picture of the blouse she clearly wears the back in her front. The back buttons are in the front and the cuffs (look at the buttons!)are turned.
ReplyDeleteWow! I think Kate looks stunning. The color of the blouse is lovely. Her slacks are so polished. The bag really pulls the outfit together. And just look at how comfortable she is and her smile lights up the room. Those kids are a treasure. Glad to see this event today.
ReplyDeleteLove the color of the blouse and that she’s wearing the Hope Egg earrings. I always liked those. Her hair looks good today. Don’t love the fit of the trousers or the neck bow. I don’t care for neck bows in general. I understand why she wore pants though because a skirt wouldn’t work for getting on the ground with the kiddies. She always looks so happy around children.
ReplyDeleteI love Kate's outfit today. One of the many things I love about Kate's fashion is that when you think you have her figured out, she goes and surprises you with something different. The blouse looks like a bespoke version of the Gucci blouse because hers has buttons down the front. I really love that handbag.
ReplyDeleteI love the blouse and dress pants look. Very pretty lilac color too. Most of all I love how natural she is around kids. Shes totally no longer the princess. I have noticed that in her engagements with children she is so much more at ease and we see a side of her that isnt always apparent in her other engagements.
ReplyDeleteI agree, she really lets her guard down with kids.
DeleteShe certainly is a natural with children!
DeleteDid she have the blouse on backwards? Her buttons are in the front and the photo of the blouse shows them in the back?
ReplyDeleteYes, it looks like that.
DeleteI agree! It is another one!
DeleteIf it was me I'd have people telling me I have my blouse on backwards😂 Kate looks lovely and elegant today.
DeleteShe is truly a natural around children! I love her ease spontaneity and kindness. She seems so happy to play with them. The blouse is beautiful , I don't like those trousers but they were great for sitting on the floor.
ReplyDeleteI love her look! Though I think this gorgeous blouse would work well with narrow cut slacks, too. Kate's work with children & families warm my heart every time. When she got down to play with the kiddos & chat with the other moms, I couldn't help but think "Imagine if she/her kids showed up to a play group any old day." How surreal but yet she's so down-to-earth, it just emanates from her.
ReplyDeleteI was actually thinking about this, if she ever has had the ability to attend such playgroups or if her role has ruled that out. Maybe she has makeshift playgroups with her friends and kids. I could totally see Kate reading up on fine motor skills, early childhood development and soft play in preparation for leading her friends play group!
DeleteRebecca, I hope Kate keeps a diary like Queen Victoria used to do. We know so much about her life, but there are so many areas of their life that we know nothing about.
DeleteI would not be surprised if she did attend something like this up in Norfolk.
I love everything about this event - she is definitely on point when it comes to early childhood. She's in her element and that one picture of her with the soft look on her face tells me she just loves children.
ReplyDeleteI love everything about her look today - she looks smashing. Happy, involved, warm, open and affectionate. I just adore Kate.
Thank you Charlotte for a very informative post as always!!! Have a great day everyone!
Beautiful blouse with buttons in the back. Awesome! The Duchess of Cambridge is definitely in her element; helping and playing with children.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the outfit...all of it!!! I'd totally wear that to work (except with a flat--im not about to kill myself in stilettos!) I feel like the arrival of Meghan gave Kate the push to do pants, different purse/clutch styles, bolder styles/clothing--there's a more relaxed feel and the OK to try more things with less scrutiny. No competition or anything-- just a different vibe. i LOVE it. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love that this is such an appropriate outfit for the occasion. Wearing the beautiful colour when working with children is a lovely idea and wearing trousers means being able to get down on ghecflirr - level with the children. This was both an elegant and wise choices
ReplyDeleteThis is such a perfect choice for the occasion. The beautiful colour is lovely when working with children and the trousers mean getting to the children’s level on the floor is easier, more comfortable and ensures modesty. This is a perfectly elegant and well thought out choice.
ReplyDeleteThat shirt is totally on backwards!!
ReplyDeleteI love the colour and the paaaaaannnnntttsss though.
She's beautiful in everything she wears! This look is elegant and fun at the same time! The lilac blouse is fantastic on her and trousers make the look young. As for the engagement I think that Kate gives her best when children are involved.
ReplyDeleteShe looks gorgeous, chic and stylish. I much prefer this to the coat dresses . She also looks younger somehow Sinead
ReplyDeleteThat gorgeous color, I love this look. As always, Kate just shines with children.
ReplyDeleteShe really does :)
DeleteShe looks wonderful and those moments with the children are so precious!
DeleteShe obviously looks gorgeous. However, my personal view is that those large slacks are not flattering on her figure because she has very narrow hips.
ReplyDeleteI have always felt that one of the reasons Kate seldom wore pants to work, is while basically any dress flatter her, not every pair of pants suits her body type.
DeleteGorgeous!!! I absolutely love these trousers. That bag is also to die for. I like how she wore slacks knowing she’d be one the floor with the kids. That would be hard to do in a dress. She looks fab.
ReplyDeleteKate certainly has the legs for trousers. These wide-legged type look better with a slimmer shirt, IMO, though. I think with this blouse (she always looks good in lilac), the pants should've been slimmed down. I do think the blouse is expensive for what it is. And I wonder if Kate meant to wear it backwards...
ReplyDeleteKate's always so relaxed around kids. It was a good idea to wear pants, that way she could get down on their level without having to worry about her outfit.
Looking at the videos I think Kate would have loved to take her own baby along. But that would not have been practical, the low-key visit would have become a media circus. And the focus would have been shifted from the great programs and the great mums there. So better not. But it would have been cute.
ReplyDeleteI could just imagine Louis getting amongst the other children! But you’re right; the attention would’ve been too much.
DeleteI love this look!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is what I would wear for sure! My next wish list item for Kate would be a slightly flared pants. They are coming back, and I think the way she has such boyish hips, it would flatter her shape so well.
She looks so happy and the kids just naturally gravitate to someone who is engaged and smiling. It is definitely her area!
I think she looked great. I like how she wore this outfit knowing she'd probably sit down on the floor and play with the little ones. Not having to worry about a skirt or dress was probably the main reason for pants. I like it - it's a much needed departure.
ReplyDeleteLove her look here!! She just shines with children, love that she spends so much time with children’s causes!!
ReplyDeleteOh, she is in her milieux at this visit!!!
ReplyDeleteGosh does the Duchess look gorgeous! Attachment is fascinating stuff though a lot of what is being written (gotta breastfeed, gotta have skin to skin, gotta wear the baby) is not true. There are lots of ways for parents and children to bond.
ReplyDeleteI just absolutely love everything about Kate and the engagement today. Her outfit is spectacular. I was shocked when I read that she is actually wearing the blouse backwards! Seems kind of daring, but I think it looks better the way she's wearing it.
ReplyDeleteAnd I think this is my favorite engagement I've ever seen her at. I love how the organization is helping parents with attachment and emotional cues. Sounds truly beneficial for everyone.
I love this look, the blouse is beautiful. Even though the pants are a little too baggy for my liking the Duchess looks lovely. The bag is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteKate looks amazing in her outfit, very good for sitting on the floor.
ReplyDeleteWow! Just gorgeous! I love the whole look and color combination. I like this style on her. Fresh, young, stylish.
ReplyDeleteWOW!Love this outfit on her!!!
ReplyDeletelove this look.....and her smile with the kids seem so authentic
ReplyDeleteI love this look on Kate!!! Great color blouse on her. She truly lights up when working with children. My only desire is that she would lop 2 inches off her hair.
ReplyDeleteDid anybody else notice Kate's missed curtsy yesterday at the church? HM certainly didn't. It kind of made me giggle.
WOW! I love the entire outfit! Love the color on her and prefer that she chose to wear the buttons in the front. Classy outfit, a nice change from dresses.
ReplyDeleteOh, that's why the cuffs are backward! The whole blouse is reversed. Now we wonder whether Kate knew it was supposed to button in back!
DeletePatricia, I'd say she knew but decided to wear it this way. :) It was a good choice, IMO - buttons on the back look simply weird. But we will probably never know for sure!
DeleteI have this image of Kate dressing early in the morning, going into the bedroom where William is sound asleep, and deciding not to awaken him to do up buttons. So she wears it back to front. It looks odd this way, to me. I would like the buttons down the back, and the tie shortwer.
DeleteI like how you think Patricia:)
DeleteThanks!
DeleteI love the colour (always prefer Kate in jewel tones) and the style of the blouse. But those pants mustn’t make an appearance again. She absolutely drowns in the outfit. The whole outfit screams (wannabe) business woman but she isn’t visiting a panel or speach. This is no outfit to sit in the floor. A more casual look would have been better in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteThe look reminds me very much of Letizia, Mary and Rania. While Letizia also drowns in it the other two make it work (probably they are tall and a bit older).
C.
What a fresh look! I love that she’s wearing trousers again and hope she continues to add them into her engagements.
ReplyDeleteAm too busy to comment but too excited not to comment. So I will be brief:
ReplyDeletePANTS/TROUSERS finally (I know she did in Cyprus too but..) elegant, confident YESSS!
Agree! She looks so stylish and sophisticated in them! It's hard to not focus on her clothes when she is always so put together and pretty. Look how much happiness she brings to everyone she meets.
DeletePerfect choice of pants for sitting on the floor with little kids! Love the shade of purple on her.
ReplyDeleteI can't stop watching the video of her with the little boy in yellow. Her facial expressions are so great- I could see her doing these same things with her own children. So loving.
ReplyDeleteShe's my favorite to watch in the RF and I just love her.
Hi, I have followed a long time but I've never Commented. I just have a couple questions...why would kate wear the blouse backwards? The other question I have is how on earth did you even notice she was wearing new shoes?? I am obviously not great at this as most of you are, but WOW... You run a great blog and have some great fans thank you in advance!!
ReplyDeleteI am having a private giggle at Kate opening the newspapers this morning explaining. “The buttons go on the back!!?!?! Say whaaaaat?!?”
DeleteUnlikely but fun to imagine.
Honestly I would also wear it with the buttons at the front. I find buttons at the back a very strange concept. How on earth do you get them done up? I can do a zip at my back but not buttons.
And since it is a flowy shirt I don’t think it really fits differently either way.
But for the shoes, I am with you. Her pants are so long I can barely see them never mind identify them.
I saw someone on another Kate site suggest this may be the mystery shirt she wore to the BP Christmas Lunch. what do you think?
ReplyDeleteAs for the backwards debate, I think she had it custom made with buttons on front. She often has things custom made with a slight change. I would do the same. Buttons down the back is very painful while sitting back.
ReplyDeleteIt is backwards. Look at the buttons on the sleeves compared to the model. I'm sure it was intentional. There is a tag in the back. I have done this with camisoles that were too low in front & you couldn't tell at all. She's like Diana doing her own thing fashion-wise. And who wants buttons in the back. Ouch!
ReplyDeleteThink about siting in a chair and leaning back. Buttons against the spine. It looks pretty but probably only works for runway wear. The color might have caught her eye and she said, "Shoot! I can fix this. Just wear the buttons in front." She has a number of board meetings and organisational meetings, usually conducted siting in chairs around the table. Or even for church--sitting in a hard-backed pew. This blouse would be perfect for those sorts of occasions. If worn buttons to front.
ReplyDeletePeople keep saying things like-take chances, mix it up, fashion forward. Well, she changed it up two days in a row and now two whole comment sections are dominated by complaints about the changes.
I have review most of the photos, and I agree Kate is wearing the beautiful blouse backwards, but in her defense the buttons on the back can be uncomfortable. It looks like she is wearing the same pants that were in a dark navy, and they need to be hemp about a inch and why because the bottom of the leg it gets wider and moves around, but the pants in the hips and waistline fits her perfectly. Since she is wearing navy pants and carrying a lavender handbag. Either she should have wore a navy or lavender pump. I did a little searching in Nordstrom store that you can order online Charles David - Calessi Pump in Lavender Patent Leather that would match perfectly with the handbag. Otherwise I 💜 love the outfit Kate is wearing and she should wear more business pants with blouses.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThis color is very pretty on her! I like this outfit a lot. And I especially love events where she gets to interact with kids. She seems very much in her element here. Love it!!
