Today's appearance follows on from a successful series of engagements carried out by the royal trio yesterday. Kate returned to public duties with a visit to the Anna Freud Centre, whilst Prince William bestowed a knighthood upon rugby legend Gareth Edwards and attended the inaugural Tusk Trust ball. Meanwhile, a bearded Prince Harry attended the Rugby World Cup welcoming party.
William and Harry have long been devoted rugby fans, and they are also heavily involved in the sport in an official capacity. Prince Harry is honorary president of England Rugby 2015, the organising committee staging the tournament. Prince William is vice royal patron of the Welsh Rugby Union and he and Kate are expected to watch several games throughout the six-week tournament, to be announced in due course.
Prince Harry gave a speech at the ceremony and said "there will be moments that will live with us for the rest of our lives".

More from the speech.
"Good evening and welcome to Twickenham, to England 2015 and the eighth Rugby World Cup. “This evening marks the beginning of a celebration of rugby that I hope will inspire current players and new generations.
Who can forget 1995 and President Mandela handing the trophy to Francois Pienaar. And THAT drop kick in 2003. To all the players, we wish you well for he tournament. Your individual skill is to be celebrated and I can think of no other sport in which the success of the team is shouldered so equally by everyone."
The royals joined eighty-two thousand sporting fans for the eagerly anticipated sporting event.
Prime Minister David Cameron described the World Cup as a "compelling spectacle":
"The tournament promises to be the best ever and it will leave a lasting legacy for the sport in our country and around the world. The sporting drama of the coming weeks will inspire tens of thousands more people to pick up a rugby ball and play the game, and the RFU is investing millions more in clubs up and down the country, training more coaches, and reaching out to make sure rugby is played in more schools.
The whole country will join with the cities hosting games in England and Wales to offer the warmest of welcomes to visiting teams and fans - and I wish all four Home Nations the very best of luck."
The spectacular opening ceremony focused on the theme "breaking new ground" and told the story of rugby's birth in England and its journey to Rugby World Cup 2015 in England and Cardiff.

The bright blue coat features a stand-up collar, a single button fastening and two front pockets, and is neatly panelled to be figure flattering. The Emile is from the brand's Autumn/Winter 2014 Collection and has been entirely sold out for some time. The piece also comes in lilac, but it sold out reduced from $525 to $370.

Kate carried the £85 Beulah London Shibani Scarf. The blue and white heart print piece worked very well with the hue of Kate's coat. It's important to note 10% of sales from the scarf go to the United Nations Blue Heart Campaign which raises awareness of human trafficking and inspires those with decision-making power to effect change. Pippa Middleton also owns this piece.

Hoping you all have a wonderful weekend :)
The Cambridges must be magical :P So far they've gotten me to watch tennis, football(soccer), basket and now rugby :P Who would have thought :P I'm sitting here with my mother trying to figure out what on earth is happening on the court :P Rather amusing when you have no clue what's going on!
ReplyDeleteNice speech from Harry and a cute little cameo. Also fun to see them all in high spirits :)
Kate looks warm and cosy, and I love the colour! I like the scarf as well and nice that she is wearing something that gives profits to charity:) Hopefully I'll catch a glimps or two more of them or otherwise I'll just have to make due with learning something about sports :P
Rebecca you are funny. Its a field, not a court :)
DeleteOh... well :P On the field then! I told you, I have never ever seen a rugby game. At least I know a few terms in some other sports but rugby isn't one of them :P
DeleteAlso, Kat. Can you enlighten me. What does "hookers" mean in the context of rugby?! :P Because I don't think it means what I think it means :P
DeleteRebecca you made me smile so much on that one! :). No, it does not mean the same in rugby. A Hooker is one of the positions in rugby.
DeleteIt's not getting me to watch rugby! Or any other sport. Isn't it called a pitch, not a field as in football? Or am I wrong?
DeleteI am no rugby expert but I thought it's a pitch as well. Like football pitch, only with rugby. :)
DeleteI think I rather muddled that - it should have read it's called a pitch as in football, not a field. Except in American football, I believe it is a field, and perhaps it is in rugby too? Or maybe in the US, irugby's played on a field but elsewhere on a pitch. Maybe different nations call it different things. I'm truly muddled now - someone else will have to sort this. Curiouskat??
DeleteJulia - I am Irish-American, but not English. My observation has been that Americans use the term "field," Irish use "pitch" and I believe they refer to the same thing. I think the English are same as the Irish.
DeleteRebecca,
DeleteThe hooker in rugby is one of the forwards , who in the scrum (when both teams crouch down) when the ball is thrown in, the hooker tries to "hook" it to his team---using his foot
Are we REALLY talking about the game of RUGBY???????? LOL
DeleteNow, THAT is amazing. I will sit this one out.
zzzzzzzz...........zzzzzzzzzzz...........zzzzzz. :)
Julia, I think Sarita is right that 'pitch' vs. 'field' reflects where you are from. I have heard 'pitch' before, but I'm American and therefore hear the word 'field' more often, probably because of our football influence. Pitch is probably the correct word, but I always hear field and therefore use it. Words get changed in translation :).
DeleteThanks for the information. I didn't know if there was some technical distinction for certain sports or if it was simply geographic - it sounds like the latter.
DeletePrince Harry's Honorary President of Rugby World Cup, but also Vice-Patron of (England) Rugby Football Union, so there is some friendly rivalry between Harry and William supporting different teams.
ReplyDeleteAlso The Queen is Patron of both (England) Rugby Football Union & Welsh Rugby Union. Which is why William and Harry are Vice Patrons. And Princess Anne is Patron of Scottish Rugby Union, so the BRF supports a number of the teams.
Our girl looks beautiful - lovely colour, really suits her. Missed her over the last couple of months so cup is running over a bit. - really happy to have her back with us. Now England just have to win!!
ReplyDeleteCharlotte thank you for these photos- these two are just incredible IMHO and they look so so so happy together. I saw a re-tweet from British Royals of a picture of TRH just smiling at each other. Warms my heart. Diana must be thrilled watching from heaven.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more. :)
DeleteI love the style of Kate's coat, but I never get tired of seeing the obvious chemistry between them.
Agreed! All the yellow journalists who put out the "trouble" in the marriage rags should post this pic! It is very very clear that these two remain smitten. It is so lovely to see ! You cannot fake that kind of look between the two of them.
DeleteDB
THAT would be such a good Idea DB.
Deletethat rapport cannot not be faked. After 14 years it is still there.
opps almost forgot. Love the coat and color- can't really tell, is HRH wearing dress slacks?
ReplyDeleteI'm also wonder what she's wearing underneath. Looks like a black long sleeve top of some sort. I haven't seen any pictures with her legs yet though.
DeleteIt looks blackish on the pant-part as well... I think I saw her having black pantyhose...Ah, here it is! https://twitter.com/richard_parr/status/644933357458071553/photo/1
DeleteIt always kills me when we can't see the whole outfit :). I suspect she is wearing a dress, but I wish we could see the lower half of her outfit. And the shoes.
DeleteI've cropped the photo Rebecca found and added it to the post. It appears Kate wore a black dress with black tights. Hopefully hi-res shots will emerge :)
DeleteGetty's has pics of Kate arriving up now, you can see the full outfit http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/news-photo/catherine-duchess-of-cambridge-attends-the-rugby-world-cup-news-photo/488938646
DeleteI am loving the contrast of the black tights and shoes combined with this coat. Very stylish and sophisticated.
DeleteWe may see this one on Christmas Day........ ;)
I like the combination too royalfan. Looks much more sleek than a nude pantyhose with the black shoes would have looked.
DeleteAre you eating a hat if not seen on Christmas Day ? :-)
Erika...DEAL, but no feathers please. :))
DeleteLol.... of course.... that goes without saying :-)
DeleteCamilla has a screaming hat shown over on From Her Majesty's Jewel Vault today. No feathers but enough foliage to make a tidy Christmas dinner. I doubt Kate will wear this coat for Christmas - as lovely a colour as it is. I think's it's more a transitional season coat - so I'll vote for that hat. And if she does wear it, I suppose I must commit to eating that hat.
DeleteAppreciate you comments on the 9-11 issue, royalfan and am sorry you and your family had to go through such a terrible loss. I still would have preferred a quiet colour for many reasons - one of which is the offensive statement that the US has made too much of that tragedy - a view sadly out there. So I wanted the clothes to match those worn to other memorial sites visited by the royal family. But I hope we can respect each others viewpoints. I certainly do yours.
Read this blog all the time but first time ever posting, so here goes... Love this coat, the colour really suits her.I was definitely one of the people who thought the fringe was a nice change but have to say that I don't like her hair at all tonight, it looks really wrong ... Would have loved to see her with a nice pony tail tonight especially with the high collar on the coat.lt's great to see her back though.
ReplyDeleteLove the color too! Makes her pop. I agree about a ponytail. The collar of the coat is its best point.
DeleteAgreed about the ponytail, that's a good idea as she goes forward through the rugby season. Not sure how the bangs will look with one but I'm sure Tash could work on a style to flatter Kate. I'm a newby too, glad to welcome you to the bunch. S
DeleteA huge welcome to our new readers and posters. We hope to see more of you :)
DeleteI think a little cold for a ponytail. Plus may not be totally appropriate as Will and Harry are both in suits. Maybe more of a dress up afare.
DeleteOne of her more stylized high ponys would have done the trick such as what she wore to the Mandela premier. Even the low but very nicely styled ponytail
Deleteshe wore when welcoming the president
of Singpore and she could have worn a hat with that one too.
Hallelujah no skinny jeans and no stripes!
ReplyDeleteWe can all take a breath and be happy we don't need to rehash that topic today!
She looks splendid! Great colour on her!
DB
Well, that was not expected since it's the opening cermony! Although I think we will see coats at the other games as well because it's looking cold!
DeleteAgreed!! I'm not in love with the coat, but enjoy the variety!
DeleteSmall blessings all ... LOL
DeleteDB
HalleluYah, indeed. lol
DeleteI was so thankful to find that the first night was formal.
A coat, though....this is really just her uniform 2.0. Everything else is the same -- same shoes, same clutch, same earrings. It's beyond boring. And it's only September. I do believe we have a loooong season of coats ahead of us. Sigh. That said, the style of the coat is gorgeous, as is the color.
DeleteCarmen... What is she supposed to wear though? There is a reason that many royals in the colder countries use alot of coats.. It is because they look stylish and are warm :)
DeleteI think the skinny jeans & stripes are a daytime casual look. This was a little more official.
DeleteAlso, I can very much see why the trio was asked to be at the game. It seems to be a huge deal! All the commercials are rugby themed, the PM is there etc. Seems like it's a huge deal for the UK to have rugby on "the home ground" so I think it's very appriciated to have the royal family represented by some of their most popular members (not to mention both Harry and William have rugby patronages).
ReplyDeleteYou're right Rebecca it's a big deal. The Queen held a reception for all the teams at BP. Most of the top tier teams are from Commonwealth countries & it's been announced the RF will be represented at all matches involving Commonwealth countries. It's also a huge PR opportunity. For most Australians the RF are just there in the background and while there might be some coverage of the Duchess's activities in women's magazines there's very little in the mainstream media. But the rugby world cup is being covered by all the mainstream media & they were shown on the TV breakfast shows this morning, photos in newspapers & their on line editions etc.
DeleteThe RF also has a personal connection to rugby union because Mike Tindall is a former captain of the English Lions (their rugby team).
Love this vibrant & chic look on the Duchess.
Beautiful style and color of coat. Nice to see her and William smiling at each other and enjoying themselves. I've missed their sweet interactions.
ReplyDeleteEducate me: what is the purpose of carrying around a scarf?
ReplyDeleteUnless she get's more cold? Being prepared?
DeleteWhen your inside meeting officals it's too hot to wear a coat and a scarf, but when your in an open air stadium in the evening, it might get a little chilly. It's about 15 C/ 59 F in London right now.
DeleteDo you not have varying temperatures in Maryland? Obviously it was not chilly enough to put it on at the time of arrival, but as the night wears on temperatures get cooler and it is possible she will need it then. Match is played in an open stadium. We carry our scarves with us all the time in Canada, from fall until spring.
DeleteIn case... not unless :P I don't know why I wrote that :P
DeleteProbably to bring awareness to the Beulah brand and charities involved in that Moxie. My guess anyway.
DeleteUm, what? In case she gets cold?
DeletePeople in Maryland wear scarves, they don't carry them around. Kate wore her long hair down with a high collared wool coat. I don't see how you put a scarf in that situation too. She did the same thing at Diamond Jubilee river pagent - carried around a tartan scarf. I'm not used to seeing people carrying around fabrics.
DeleteShe eventually put the scarf on at the diamond jubilee as it got cooler. There are pics with her having it on . She did the same in Scotland. Carried it then put it on. Don't see the big deal with this.
DeleteAbout the scarf,
DeleteThat is a very know pattern among their set and fashionistas in general. Like I said, people know that is a Beulah scarf. They know Beulah gives 10% of profits to endeavors to stop human trafficking. Carrying that scarf as an accessory is advertising Beulah and it's humanitarian endeavors.
The tartan scarf was big enough to use as a substantial shawl. It was cold out on the river that day.
DeleteThere is a picture floating around with her wearing that tartan scarf during the pagent down the Thames. So I am guessing it's for if its needed. And it looks like a chic accessory tied to her purse
DeleteIt accessorises nicely? If it's a wool challis or something I guess it could be used if it gets cold. Otherwise, it's decorative, really.
DeleteMoxie is right. It is strange to carry it around with a high collared coat. But it is truly nice scarf though!:)
DeleteI often carry a scarf "in case". Too warm to keep on the coat but need something part way through an event. Or she wore it with her dress for dinner and was too hot with the coat back on or she thought she might unbutton her coat and want something around her neck. No idea why. But I have done the same.
DeleteFor years now, it has been stylish to wear scarves like this over coats or even just a shirt in warmer weather. The days when they were limited to bundling up against the coldest winter months are long gone.
Deletehttps://www.google.com/search?q=celebrity+scarves&biw=1600&bih=735&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&sqi=2&ved=0CBwQsARqFQoTCO2R6Y-GgsgCFcbzPgodyNgNfA
Maybe she wanted to have it in case her legs got cold. Who knows. Also, the charity aspect of it cannot be underestimated given the "Kate effect."
in other photos Moxie she has wrapped the scarf around her- I also seem to recall her taking off her coat and wearing the scarf around her neck.
DeleteI live in a very cold state bordering the Great Lakes. I always have a scarf handy, and sometimes I carry it in order to be prepared. Charlotte has also explained the source and meaning of this scarf. Kate has brought attention to an important issue by keeping it visible, and the color is perfect with her coat.
DeleteI asked my husband about rugby. His reply, (American) football without the helmets and body pads. One begins to understand Mike Tindall's nose!
Deliah-
DeleteDo you have the link to the other photos? All the ones I've seen Kate kept her coat on and didn't wear the scarf.
The Queen also carried a wrap onto that Thames River barge - and wore it around her shoulders part of the time. It was cold and rainy that day.
DeleteI live in an area that gets 100 inches of snow yearly. Fall is chilly and I wear many coats from parkas to nice dress coats and even with high collars I will wear a scarf in a manner that it is tucked inside the coat. I don't find it strange at all that she carrying the scarf.
DeleteExactly Anon 19.44. You sort of... tuck it in, to give more warmth. Or as someone said, she could have had it as an extra layer in her lap.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteHere she is wearing the Strathern tartan on the floatilla. Gives a lovely pop of color!
Deletehttp://m.ibnlive.com/news/india/uk-queen-leads-1000-strong-jubilee-flotilla-480497.html
I know this is not related to fashion but can anyone tell me who was the guy who stood on the stage while Laura Wright sang ( beautiful voice btw!)? I couldn't find his name anywhere and I felt like I saw him somewhere before ^^
ReplyDeleteBack to fashion, I really really love the coat! The color is amazing!
Yay for no sporting uniform! The coat is nice but the styling leaves much to be desired. Between the high collar of the coat and ALL that hair, it looks a big suffocating. I am REALLY not liking the new fringe. I love a good fringe but I think she needs side swept fringe and an off center part, the center part kind of makes her look matronly. I'm also curious to see if she is wearing a dress under the coat or trousers (please Lord let them be nicely tailored trousers).
ReplyDeleteOn a side note, Harry is looking as handsome as ever. I really do just adore him & I would be more than willing to volunteer as next girlfriend (I'm blonde so I already have a leg up!).
I just thought about the hair. Maybe she is like me. My hair gives alot of protection when it's cold. If she had had a ponytail, don't you think her ears would be cold?
Deletegood point Rebecca. I would want my ears covered also.
DeleteI stand 50% corrected. :)
That would be why hats were invented. To keep one's head warm.
DeleteI would love to see Kate wear that furry hat she wore to cheltenham.
DeleteYES to the hat, Anon 6:51.
DeleteA YES from me for the hat as well!
DeleteAnd also, can we please get William a new tie?!?
ReplyDeleteHahha, he and Harry looked like they had the exact same tie and they have both worn it before :P
Deletelol Rebecca,
DeleteThey do look like the same ties.
William always has a blue suit on, as well.
DeleteThey all looked splendid. Love Harry's beard, and what a great video about the game, with Harry playing a farmer. The coat is beautiful, what a great color. I thought all three looked happy and just terrific.
ReplyDeleteWow, she looks AMAZING. Fringe much better today, she just needed to figure it out :) love the coat, love how cute she and William look. Absolute win.
ReplyDelete(Also, Harry's beard <3)
Kates faces is how I looked today :P This was the first time I watched any kind of rugby :P Most of the time was spent on trying to figure out what on earth was happening, the other time I was making faces and thinking someone would end up breaking their neck!! Rugby is BRUTAL! :O
ReplyDeleteYou hit that right!!
DeleteI love rugby. And everyone in college knew that the best parties were in the rugby house. Those guys play hard and party hard.
DeleteI would like to think that there is a chance that we won't see the "sporting uniform"
ReplyDeleteYes it is a sporting event, but William and Harry aren't just attending as royals who love the games, they are also there in an official capacity. Maybe, because of this official role, we won't see the jeans and Breton stripe?
It was just for today, because it was the opening ceremony, we didn't see Kate in her "sporting uniform." I expect to see it when she attends other matches at the cup.
DeleteI actually don't think we will Gert, since as I have figured they are on "outdoor" arenas? I think it will be too cold for her uniform. But I might be wrong.
DeleteAlso, I'd like to think Kate has on slacks, but if there was at least one photo, wouldn't we have seen it by now? Especially considering that would be a completely new look for her
ReplyDeleteI posted it above: https://twitter.com/richard_parr/status/644933357458071553/photo/1
DeleteTo me it looks like she has a dress and black pantyhose
I agree, her hair would have been better in a ponytail, or off her face and neck. The coat's collar would have looked better. She still looked gorgeous, but if she cut 4" off of her hair, it would open up her face more, and not weigh her down. Also have her fringe cut straight across.
ReplyDeleteYES! To your every word.
DeleteAmen, Tedi! That hair just consumes her and overpowers everything - her face and features, her clothing, all of it.
DeleteI agree.
DeleteHer hair does tend to take away from the overall look of an outfit.
Its funny to me how animated Kate is while watching the game and William is very stoic. Shows the difference in personalities. I am very much like Kate while watching sport.
ReplyDeleteHaha. Maybe you could relieve Moxie's overworked staff and write an article!
DeleteGood point about her hair protecting her from the chilly night air Rebecca.
ReplyDeleteThe loving glances and interactions between William and Kate were the best part. They love each other very much and it shows, through eye contact and the way they relate to one another. Since marrying Kate, William has become so much more confident, relaxed, and openly affectionate. As Rev. Richard Chartres said in his homily at their wedding..."in marriage we seek to bring one another into fuller life." I think their interactions demonstrate that.
ReplyDeleteI so agree
DeleteI disagree with the confident part. She sometimes looks lost and awkward. Look at videos visiting charities. Smiling photos show a different Kate.
DeleteHow true, Sarah. :)
Deleteblue27 She was saying William is more confident not Kate.
DeleteTRH absolutely compliment each other IMHO. I think they have grown into this pubic role so nicely & are a true team. Something most would want from the person they plan to spend the rest of their life with. I think PW feels less alone now that he has a family of his own & his wife & family complete him. He was born into this life, and had no choice but to accept it, yet he seems to be as down to earth as his Mom was. I just wish them both & their children good health & Blessed days.
DeleteThanks for a great post again Charlotte, I'm so impressed with your speedy posts considering you are a newly wed!
ReplyDeleteThe Duchess looks marvellous, I am surprised with all the negatory comments regarding her styling, I don't know many people could look this consistently beautiful and polished. I think her hair is just gorgeous, thick and lush and don't feel the need for her to cut inches off. The cobalt blue is stunning with her brunette locks just a win all round.
I actually think most women could look this good consistently with the resources Kate has, like money and a personal hairstylist. I actual have several friends who always look beautiful and they don't have the resources Kate has. I agree Kate is beautiful, but I think it is a disservice to most women to think only a few women can look consistently beautiful.
DeleteCuriousKat: I agree with you wholeheartedly. I too know a lot of women, even very young ladies who strive to look good all the time--whether they dress up or down. It is truly a fallacy that only women with the means to hire a stylist, make up artist etc. can look pulled together. Ladies, stop buying into that lie--get to know what suits you; learn to put your make up on, style your hair and always, always look your best. You will be surprised, once you have learned a few styling tips, make up tricks etc. and practice same consistently, how easy it is. Best of all, it becomes second nature to be always well pulled together. Finally, you will feel good about yourself.
DeletePS: Our American ladies may be acquainted the TV show "What not to wear", it is a good one to watch to learn what the right styling can do and that anyone can learn to do it.
Agreed CuriousKat.
DeleteIt can be done, even without people helping you. That being said, my mantra these days is if it can't be done in five minutes it doesn't happen. I would hate to spend as much time as she must have to do prepping with hair and makeup. That being said, I probably wouldn't mind as much if someone came to my house to do my hair every day! That would be lovely.
DeleteAs someone with unruly hair I cannot overstate how much I would like to have someone come do my hair. Kate is lucky to have so much help preparing every day. A couple of years ago I gave in and resorted to getting weekly blowouts on Monday mornings. They are not expensive, but a drain on time and has to be factored in to my morning along with school runs. Challenging when hubby travels.
DeleteAnyway bottomline is that it is not hard to look good when you have a fair amount of logistical support. Kate has a beautiful face and unlimited resources which not all of us have but that does not mean that we cannot look our best. Even without support there are so many resources available to us that our moms and grandmothers never had. With so many blogs available for women of different ages, online shopping, tutorials and so on, most women can find fundamental pieces that suit their figure and coloring and build a stylish wardrobe around that, have manageable hair and basic makeup.
I live in San Diego and there are a lot of younger people here with a lot of universities colleges etc.
DeleteThere are so many naturally beautiful women here including women Kate's age. They really don't have to much, if anything, to look stunning.
Kind of depressing actually. :)
bluhare-do you think perhaps Kate just has a hairdresser in before events? I think for a daily hair-arranger-
Deleteor re-arranger, we need look no farther than Master George. And if she doesn't want to add used milk to
her hair regimen, I imagine pony tail is the hair style of choice when she is at home. 99
Kate has wonderful natural gifts but looking at her as a young woman right when she met William, there have been some major changes over the year - in hair particularly. It was the same with Diana and some other royal ladies. I do think a combination of having many resources available and being in the public eye where the camera will catch everything makes a difference.
DeleteAnon 13:38. I so agreed with you and I am glad you pointed out that there are so many resources available for women today which were not available before. There resources make it easier and cheaper for women to looked pulled together and polished and by that I meant, they do not have to employ someone to do it for them. But, there will always be those who think that it takes tons of money to look good and will not be convinced other wise. That way of thinking, puts women at a disadvantage; it says, forget about trying to look good or pulled together because you will never be able to pull it off because you don't have the resources of the royals etc. To me that is just bunk! Ladies don't believe the lie; it can be done.
DeleteI think the first rule of looking pulled together on a budget is quality over quanity. Buy timeless, classic items of good quality, instead of following fashion fads.
DeleteEverybody knows this, I think, but it bears repeating. 99
And...accessorize, accessorize, accessorize.
I so agree with you Sarah. They are wonderful together.
ReplyDeleteWe ALL love Kate, and I agree she is a very beautiful young woman. But, it would be boring if we all just said she is perfect all the time. I for one, just want to see her at her very best. It's just a fun blog for us to give our different points of view. Plus, we have our Charlotte to weed out nasty comments.
ReplyDeleteCharlotte, thankyou for such a wonderful blog. I've been reading it for about a 18 months, and so enjoy it. Never have commented, but enjoy all, especially Rebecca-Sweden, Bluhare, Lynn from Georgia, Julia in Leominister, and RoyalFan:) I have learned sooo much from you Ladies about fashion choice's with our favorite Duchess. thanks, Lea
ReplyDeleteLea, I hope you chime in more often. :))
DeleteAww, thank you for the shoutout!! :) I look forward to hearing more from you, Lea :D
DeleteYes, Lea, please let me say thank you as well. Please do start commenting!
DeleteThank you too, Lea, for your lovely remarks.
DeleteWe've had some other exciting new comments coming in here recently as well as the return of some old friends and I hope you join us in commenting often.
Thanks for tagging me, Lea. I'm pleasantly surprised, since I don't know the names of most of the designers. Others on this blog are so much more knowledgeable than I! I do invoke my mother's name quite often--my seamstress mother, who knew every fabric, style, and color. Incidentally she called the color of Kate's coat ROYAL blue--and Kate rocked it!!
DeleteHope you'll keep commenting! We need (and welcome!) new voices!
I have never seen Rugby played....I've heard it's pretty rough. Will check it out on YouTube. I'm kind of getting the Harry Potter feeling of the World Quidich Cup, very cool. They all look great :) oh and William has new glasses! Perfect for him. Harry has the' Outback ' look which my boys (young men) like too. Kate looks lovely as usual.
ReplyDeleteHave a relaxing weekend everyone!
Oh, you noted Williams glasses! I think he looks great in glasses!! :D
DeleteI must say it is areally nice colour and coat and scarf on her. Even if the scarf is an UFO.:)
ReplyDeleteI am very unhappy with her hair though, I think it does her nothing good. My hairdresser always said that parting in the middle suits very few people. Certainly Kate is not one of them. It will be interesting to see this in a tiara event.
A question to Charlotte: as a long time reader, I foolowed your blog to become one it is today, and of course it is still shaping. I was always wondering how you prepare a post, as myself tried to do a blog, I know, it is huge work, especially if you want a good one. SoI though maybe in the next dry period you could simply share some of your "secrets". Kind of going behind the scene!
Also if you agree, we could come up with some questions to you, where you could answer only, of course I didn't mean too personal questions, you pick the questions that are totally appropriate for you. I am sure all of us coiuld up with something. Still we could get to know you a bit. It would be an appreciation post for you, for your incredible, fast work you do every time!!!
I hope I made sense, not too shabby or invading to you on any level!
Hello Blue,
DeleteThat sounds like an excellent idea!
Firstly, I want to wish you good luck with your blog. I would say it took me at least a year to work out how to structure posts properly, the length they should be, number of photos, etc.
I find research and prep in the days before an engagement invaluable in terms of getting the posts out quickly. For example, I spent an hour reading up on the Anna Freud Centre on Tuesday and took note of key points/links to donation pages I wanted to share on the day. I also try to always structure engagement posts with information on the engagement first (and a paragraph on what Kate's been up to for new visitors or those who visit occasionally), followed by info on the charity/organisation followed by details on what Kate wore.
With any blog, it takes time to find your mojo and a routine that fits in with your schedule, but I would recommend it to anyone. It's an excellent hobby and a great way to share an interest you may have with other like-minded people.
Excellent suggestion Blue27.
DeleteCharlotte, I just have to say that your response to Blue was so gracious and thorough... it just goes to show the effort and ethic you have on your blog. Thanks so much for all the hard work you put into this. I come here to escape reality and have some "me" time and really appreciate all you do to write the blog and engage in the comments section. :)
DeleteThanks Charlotte! I'm working on a blog for my area (and hopefully it will grow out from there) on dealing with ADHD/Autism/food/recipes/support, so this was very helpful. I really like your blog and appreciate your hard work!
DeleteThank you all so much :)
DeleteCharlotte, thank you so much for your kind response and encouragement. I look forward to your future posts.
DeleteNot sure if anyone mentioned it but I'm sure Kate was thinking of the Reiss brand because of the tragedy of Debra Reiss, daughter of the founder, who died with her unborn baby just a short time ago. She was almost Kate's age and left her first child - who must be around George's age, and her partner. I'm sure that has been very much on Kate's mind as she was mentioned in all the articles about the Reiss brand. It is an enormously considerate gesture of her. Bravo Kate! I'm certain it will bring cheer to the family.
ReplyDeleteI do wonder if Kate truly isn't that keen on rugby and is just being quiet rah-rah to show interest. She seems a bit more enthusiasitic while William seems more intent on the match. Perhaps, I'm just projecting.
After this noble and elegant effort, the coat is a beatiful colour - I'll say not a word if she wears the uniform to any further matches.
Love Harry and his beard. Now he's been seen with Cressida after being seen with Chelsy supposedly. Who knows about that lad.
I think the Harry thing is media driven, and part of me wonders if Cressida isn't using it as leverage for her acting career. I see she was photographed at a party right after being seen with him. Harry does look good, doesn't he? He looks pretty good in a scruffy white shirt and braces too!
DeleteIt was reported Kate wanted to go to the matches so she isn't a rugby widow during the Cup. That doesn't sound like someone with a keen interest in the game, but you never know. Maybe she'll find she likes it. Wonder where Tindall was. Is he involved with the English team at all, do you know?
Oh, another of those dreadful typos - I meant quite not quiet of course.
DeleteI really don't think that's the reason why Kate chose that particular coat. If that was the case and she was thinking about the family she would have worn a Reiss dress on her first solo engagement the other day.
DeleteIt just happened to be a coincidence that she wore that brand.
Even more so if Kate really wanted to she could have released a statement saying the family were in her thoughts or something like that, I think that would have been great because she loves the brand so.
Pippa wrote a Vantiy Fair article about rugby and said the Middletons were hard core rugby watchers especially Granny Middleton. Kate has gone to Cardiff to watch Wales play with William several times. William is Vice Patron of the Welsh rugby union. Wales is in the same pool group as England so that may explain why William wasn't as demonstrative as Kate or Harry. W&K even coached little kids at rugby during their NZ tour (NZ a big rugby nation). Kate likes rugby.
DeleteWearing Reiss at the opening ceremonies of the hugely followed World Cup made a much bigger statement.
DeleteShe rarely wears Reiss. It would have been an amazing coincidence, if she had not deliberately chosen
to honor the family by wearing Reiss.
Besides, the charity appearances were indoor-the rugby outdoor.
It was meant to be subtle, I imagine, compared to a public letter. She very well may have sent a private
letter.
She couldn't make an obvious statement and risk setting a precedent that would be difficult to follow. 99
It could be just a coincidence but I don't think so. Kate hasn't worn much new by Reiss recently - that rather unbecoming grey blazer was the last new thing I remember. (Perhaps the only garment Kate has worn that I think would have looked better on me than her - the proportions were wrong on her.)
DeleteThis was a very private tragedy although it was reported in the press, and a public statement would not have been right in this case respectfully, even if Kate was given to making them. The royal family doesn''t normally make statements like that or it could become overwhelming. I suspect Kate may have sent a private note - and this coat be a little gesture too - maybe it was more available than a new dress.
Kate may not have known the young woman in question who was based in the States - but I can't help but think she would feel enormous empathy for child younger than George suddenly being left without a mum - it happens all the time of course, but when it someone with a connection to you, even a business one, you feel it more strongly.
Julia - I'm going to hold you to it "not commenting on Kate's uniform." :-) I agree that this was a lovely combo she wore to the opening ceremony. If that was the reason she chose Reiss, then good on her. She is a very thoughtful lady that truly cares about others.
DeleteThe coat is neither here nor there for me. I'm kinda neutral about it, I don't absolutely hate it but I don't love it either. I think it was a good choice for the chilly weather with the high collar. And it's a beautiful shade of blue it looks like a cerulean blue to me.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately I do think we'll be seeing Kate's "uniform" in the next few weeks. But because it's a bit chiller, I believe we'll see her pairing it with scarves.
Who knows she might not wear the wedges at all, but I think we'll see them pop up a few times.
I love the blue color. I'm a huge fan of eye popping coats -- I have a hot pink one and a purple one I alternate all winter. It seems like winter is so drab, and it's nice to have a good color pop. Not a fan of the asymmetric styling, but I do love the color.
DeleteBluhare I love colored coats too!! You should see my coat closet it looks like a rainbow! Lol. I couldn't agree more winter is so dull and dreary and adding a great pop of color can liven it up a bit.
Deletesaaaassy, Bluhare,
DeleteI imagine the coats are beautiful.
Nice to know someone else loves bright coats, Blair. The rest of my wardrobe is black, blue, and grey mostly, but I love vivid coats. I'm on the lookout for my next one now!
DeleteI love bright coats too, although I confess if it comes in black, I often end up buying that to get the more use of it. I love that shade of blue - perfect on Kate and if it were still available, I would be tempted.
DeleteLove jewel tone coats as well. I'm in the market for an emerald green one this year. So if anyone sees a great one.... :-)
DeleteThe coat was okay and served its purpose. Nothing to write home about. Kate's worn a royal blue long coat, that was belted, that was much more tailored and stylish than this option.
ReplyDeleteHer hair - ugh. Just - ugh. Too heavy, too dark, too thick, too shapeless, too lank and too - there! It really ruins the whole look. Whoever thought that fringe was a good idea ought to be fired. Even given the changes her hair might be undergoing due to childbirth and nursing, still, ugh. There are better styles to deal with those changes than this - hot mess. Her hair almost looks wiglike and not a good wig at that.
This is a perfect example of where long hair doesn't necessarily ALWAYS look stylish or chic or great and where excessively long, unstyled hair isn't better than a short cut. Diana's short cut looked much more stylish than this heavy, dark, thing Kate's working. I'm not advocating that for Kate but a cut, style and color like Pippa has would be perfect on Kate.
If anyone is familiar with "The Addams Family" movies in the U.S., Kate's 'do reminds me of Morticia Addams.
She is a pretty woman, she just needs to get back to some of that style she had, both in clothing and hair and makeup, before she was turned into this 60-year-old woman in a 33-year-old woman's body. Heck, even her mom, who IS 60, looks and dresses younger than Kate!
I agree, this look was again a disappointment for me. Her coat looks like a spacesuit coat from star trek IMO.
DeleteAnd the hair does not do wonders for the dress, either. Thank you Charlotte for this post!xoxo
Too funny. Now I can't unsee it. Live Long and Prosper!
DeleteMake it so, Number 1. Engage!
DeleteFor anyone interested in the teams in the rugby world cup....
ReplyDeletehttp://www.theguardian.com/sport/blog/2015/sep/18/rugby-world-cup-power-rankings-new-zealand
I'm from New Zealand, so this World Cup is a huge deal for us and much of our country's population will be glued to the TV for the next few weeks :-)
ReplyDeleteI thought Kate looked very tired, stressed and sad yesterday; but today she looks 100% better! I absolutely love that colour on her; the style of the coat itself is gorgeous; her scarf was the perfect accessory; and her hair - even with the new fringe which I'm not a fan of - looked gorgeous.
It always amazes me when I read comments on articles (not necessarily here) from posters about her 'crotch grabbing' with her hands - I was always taught to stand like that when I was having photos taken and attending a formal event, so it seems commonsense / practice to me. What would people rather she did with her hands?
I agree she could do more in her role, but considering there are very real terror threats against the royals at the moment, it could be that she's being advised to only attend certain events - who really knows what 'they' decide for her schedule?
I used to think William looked annoyed whenever he was with her, but I've come to my own conclusion that it's just his natural 'resting face' to look like that.
I do think Kate is far happier when in William's or Harry's company when doing engagements, and I can't blame her for that - I'd be very much the same and I'm only a few years old than Kate.
I love William's new glasses - they really suit him.
I agree with you that the criticism Kate gets for crotch-clutching is overboard sometimes. I'd prefer that to underwear or too much thigh with small children who might get more than an eyeful. I disagree though about Kate not doing more. HM is the one with the largest risk, and she does more than 200+ engagements a year. If she can, Kate can definitely do more. It could be like Sophie, they want her in the family longer, focusing on raising the kids and making the marriage work to being in public, which personally I think is smart, but the public wants to see Kate out and working. I do get irritated when Kate doesn't appear at events like the Battle of Britain remembrance but can make a rugby match. And I think a lot of people notice that, and they blame her for it instead of Jason or staff. I think Kate is being very passive, which is probably a good thing with the RF because they can feel a lot of control over her, but she's got to see the pitfalls like not appearing at imp engagements like that and demand to go. If she looks at things through the British lens (and I'm British by family but American born) duty and history are key. If she goes to events honoring Britain or British history along with her children's mental health charity, I think people will become more positive.
DeleteThe centre deals with some very sad situations with children. I imagine her facial expressions reflected
Deletethat. When a person is sad or serious, not smiling, it may show more lines and give the appearance of fatigue or aging.
We've noticed this with Kate before.
Rugby, on the other hand, is a happy and stimulating event. She was appropriate. 99
Hi Anon,
DeleteHaving studied yoga for a number of years I can tell you that clasping the hands in front of your nether region is the worst pose you can do for your posture. It rolls the shoulders forward, collapsing the lungs making the breath short which of course you don't want in a stressful situation, it humps the upper back which in turn pinches shoulder and neck nerves. A few years ago Kate accompanied the Queen to Leicaster and if you look back at pictures of her walking down the concourse you would see a striking difference in how she carried herself then compared to now when she is walking with her hands clasped in front. From a body language perspective clasping the hands in front like this is very defensive and signals that the person is feeling insecure and uncomfortable,as they are almost curling up into themselves. I really wish that Kate would address her posture as it will only help her in the long run with increased deep breathing and decrease her likelihood of developing a humped back as she gets older. Plus in I'd like to see her look confident and secure and nothing says that like great posture.
21:36- I got a chuckle from your observations. There is a picture, maybe on this post, of Catherine standing
Deletein a line of five or six others, each with their hands clasped exactly as you described. It is apparently the
parade rest stance of choice for politicians, athletes, and a number of royals. She is not alone and I don't
think pop-psych explanations suffice. A lot of powerful, public people use this posture when in some
circumstances. 99
Thank you Charlotte,
ReplyDeleteLOVED the photo of a gleaming William and his glowing dinner partner, Joss Stone at the Tusk Trust ball that you notated above. I have never seen such good photos of William in years. VERY nice photos.
I love the style of Kate's coat! It is so elegant and looks warm, too. I could never wear that shade of blue, but it may be the best I have seen with her ring. Is blue the color of rugby? Both princes are wearing bright blue ties. Harry's blue is quite different from Kate's. Hope I find his speech, it certainly reads well. And he is cute as the gardener.
ReplyDeleteHARRY! So so cute :) What a great quick video history with so much heart! S
DeleteDid anyone else see this incredible photo from Getty Images?! Even Prince William is making a fantastic face during the match! What a great shot!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.gettyimages.com/detail/news-photo/catherine-duchess-of-cambridge-attends-the-rugby-world-cup-news-photo/488938646
Loved the coat very stylish and I quite like the fringe. As the opening ceremony for the rugby world cup is up there with major international sporting events such as the Olympics I think a pony tail as suggested would not have been appropriate. I liked the possible reasons behind the choice of coat and scarf and enjoyed seeing her with William and Harry. She looked great and very happy and a good ambassador.
ReplyDeleteoh I love the duchess coat I must say a pretty love coat and I love the color plus the fact I love scarf hmm there a lot changes when they started the daily mail tittle and article almost changing I love those facial expression of duke and the duchess and I love the opening she even more cuter than gardener its reminds me of the Daniel craig and queen Elizabeth in opening ceremony of world cup trying to find the heartfelt speech cannot find
ReplyDeleteOh dear I just don't like her hair!! The coat was lovely colour but styled on the reiss website was so much nicer than how Kate wore it, as was the Ralph Lauren dress the day before. The items looked fresh and young where's she styled them a little bit boring. Never mind at least she's out supporting these things.
ReplyDelete"What Not To Wear"
ReplyDeletewas SUCH an awesome program. Not only did I learn
ALOT about dressing optimally, but the transformation
in thinking and in dressing that the girls on the show experienced was heart warming and uplifting. I wish they would do the show again. It is such a public service, IMO.
I actually hated the program. Why do we as a society think it is it OK to ridicule what someone chooses to wear? Put them in embarrassing situations and expect them to be comfortable in the clothes someone else thinks is "fashionable". Maybe it was the "hosts" who ran it, but I sure would not be comfortable in the items they picked or my choices made fun of. Why does everyone need to be a fashion icon? I think a women needs to dress appropriately for the situation (work, formal afare, or a game), however it is her choice and should not be embarrassed.
DeleteI LOVED that show also. My little niece (who is not so little now) used to watch that all the time.
DeleteShe is now majoring in fashion merchandising and design. I think the show was a good influence on her.
The show helped girls who already had self image issues. The show did not teach them to be fashionistas but how to dress for their body type and lifestyles.
Anon 17:21. You and me both. I loved the show because I learned so much from it. And the transformation was indeed jaw dropping and most of all they did not break the bank doing it. Did you see the show when they checked back with some of their most resistant guests? Those guests said that they were glad that they had the experience and they were still following the guideline they picked up from the show.
DeleteAnon: 15:05. I am sorry you felt that way because it was a chance for those who were chosen by their children; co work or significant other to change for the better how they dressed or did not and having participated showed improvement of a thousand percent. In addition, all of the participants chosen worked in a profession where a the dress code required they appeared professional in dress, nothing less. As was the case in many instances, they were not dressing not even to the bare minimum of the code. At the end of the show, when one saw the transformation, it was just amazing to see the confidence and the joy and even relief on their faces.
Finally, I agreed that the show was indeed a public service!
Regards.
Anon_LA
I think that it would be nice to see some curls once in awhile instead of straight most of the time. Otherwise she dresses beautifully but I am sure she is more than the sum of her clothings.
ReplyDeleteCoat? What coat? What hair?
ReplyDeleteAll I saw was the cutie with the ginger hair and beard! ;-)
"Reluctant Prince William"
ReplyDeleteCoincidence or does Katie Nicholl follow the comment section of this blog ?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3241679/Prince-Charles-increasingly-takes-duties-Queen-Prince-William-duty.html
Oh, I could see the smiles over this one. KN at her best.
DeleteInteresting how the title of the article names William and labels HIM as being reluctant when it goes on to talk about BOTH W&H wanting to make THEIR OWN mark rather than stepping into their father's shoes.
And in referring to Camilla...
"This new life is not naturally to her taste, yet she has fully embraced it, using her warmth and engaging personality to great effect. Charles, meanwhile, works around the clock."
Right! Got it! Source, anyone?
These types of articles (along with Charles doesn't get to see his grandson, etc), are eerily reminiscent of the undermining that was directed at Diana to make her look bad while attempting to shift support and sympathy in Charles' direction.
DeleteHe needed it then because his judgment and priorities were questioned. And, currently, he has quite a task before him. I am well aware of the joy that this article will generate, but for anyone who truly supports the monarchy, you should entertain the possibilities........ I strongly believe that these leaks come with a blessing.
I also love how all of these articles make Camilla out to be a hardworking royal along with the implication that she found herself in a role she wasn't yearning for. Oh, please.
For someone who doesn't like sugar in her coffee, the cup in front of me tastes nauseatingly sweet right now.
royalfan I am with you on the leaking. Absolutely despicable tactics. It is amazing - does he really think that his son will be won over this way ? Shaming him in the media via his PR team?
DeleteHowever, I do believe that there is a touch of reluctance in William as well. Surely you don't disagree given all that he is doing ? I had a great deal of hopes but the lad is simply not willing to take on royal work.
I agree with Royalfan. This article does remind me of the "War of the Wales's" of the early 90s. How sad if this is what Charles is resorting to. Just because William wants to do things differently doesn't mean that he is uninterested. He has stated several times that he will find his own way. Personally, I don't think it would be a good thing for the monarchy to carry on exactly as it has under Queen Elizabeth. Times have changed and although she has done her best to change with the times, new leadership should, and usually does, bring a very different philosophy and new ideas to the program. The question will be, does Charles (and then William) have the vision to make changes that will inspire the British and Commonwealth people? That's what makes it exciting. Time will tell. Charles needs to concentrate on this own situation and stop trying to pump himself (and his wife) up by questioning the commitment of his children (either overtly or through "sources").
Deleteroyalfan 11:17- Well, I did reply yesterday, but, again, my comment didn't make the cut. I mainly
Deletesuggested that the spoon full of sugar in your coffee didn't help and that you should try a wee bit o something stronger to help that article go down.
I made other comments on the same theme as yours and relating to the author's work ethic (we discuss Wm. and Kate's, right?) -perhaps that was the dis-allowed part.
So sorry Camilla continues her illness and has regrettably missed another engagement-Battle of Brittain
memorial. Charles appeared in uniform, of course. 99
Anon 04:37, on a personal, "wish list" level, I do believe that William would choose a private life over a public one. But this preference does not necessarily equate to him *refusing* to be more active within the Firm. My belief that Charles wants, and needs, the spotlight has not changed; I still maintain that this is the current game plan. But the fact that it can be twisted and used against W&H is rather convenient.
DeleteI was not thinking of Charles...but someone near and dear. Someone who is not invested in W/K/H's success or happiness on a *truly* personal level, but is as invested as it gets in the next chapter of the BRF.
My opinion only, of course, but these tactics are nothing new. Some people lead from the heart, and pay the price, while others are quieter about achieving their goals.
Marny, I agree with you. And I suspect that Charles is anxious to make some changes, and likewise in William's case. For now, however, they have to carry on "just because" the Queen said so. :))
DeleteCharlotte I have to say I love your blog because you not only praise the Cambridge's but you aren't afraid to say it when they displease you or express your disappointment in an outfit Kate chose
ReplyDeleteAlso as a former reporter I want to thank you for sticking up for Richard Palmer. Just because he showed disgust for the palace basically threatening to shoot photographers he got attacked by some royal bloggers and I am glad yours wasn't one of them
I find that yours is the only one that doesn't suck up the Cambridge's unlike he's got her looks thankfully tunblr who worships the ground they walk on
So thank you Charlotte for allowing us to sometimes be critical of the cambrodges
Also this article on the daily mail today was most interesting http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3241679/Prince-Charles-increasingly-takes-duties-Queen-Prince-William-duty.html
Thanks again for your wonderful blog!
Sarah usa
Charlotte, I want to compliment your blog by tagging Sarah USA above. Couldn't agree with her more about the balance you keep here. You carefully give us as much info as possible on Kate's style, and you update, which is wonderful. And, finally, you write for us instead of using this as a springboard for self-serving comments, treat us like children, and tell us your blog challenges (TMI). BRAVO. You're my go-to! Thanks so much for this space. Katherine USA
DeleteThere is a vast difference between "sucking up" and responsible moderating. Presenting an attractive
Deletepost and then allowing complimentary remarks based on premature , unfounded, or later proven false tabloid stories in
the comment section, as sites sometimes do, is not responsible moderating. It is like sugar coating on a
rancid biscuit.
04:43& 07:34 sound a little like sour grapes. Apparently you both read and comment on at least one other
Kate site. I get edited all the time here. It happens. 99
Bangs: -meh.
ReplyDeleteIn other news: I don't typically care for facial hair on men...but THAT GINGER ROCKS IT!
Lol.....totally agree about Harry and the facial hair!!! Does anybody else think she doesn't vary her hair too much because she doesn't want to look like she's trying too hard. There are sooo many different ways she could style it but she always seems to the same few styles... It usually always looks well just very safe!!!
DeleteI love seeing her in cobalt blue! She looks great in this shade. I'm also happy to see her wear the M&W earrings again. I was worried she'd stick to her Annoushka pearl drops. Don't get me wrong, those are nice too. It's just feel she's too dependent on them.
ReplyDeleteA very interesting article!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3241679/Prince-Charles-increasingly-takes-duties-Queen-Prince-William-duty.html
I really like this coat and was surprised to see Kate wearing Reiss. She does so very infrequently and it was a nice change. The color is great and is very flattering for many women. I have a coat in this similar color and love it very much. I call it my 'princess' coat. :-)
ReplyDeleteI keep checking Kate's calendar and hoping to find more announced engagements for her 'busier' autumn schedule. I checked the court circular for future engagements and there aren't any mentioned for William/Kate/Harry when I last checked on Friday. Looking forward to the next time we see Kate solo as well as W/K and the trio.
This coat is already available for escalated prices on eBay! Wow, sellers do react quickly to take advantage of the Kate Effect!
ReplyDeleteI love the new coat. Is it already cold in England?
ReplyDeleteFor some reason my computer is not allowing me to reply to a comment right now, but this is in reply to Sarah usa and the article she posted. What I find interesting is that Charles may have shot himself in the foot cutting out other royals in his new "streamlined monarchy".
ReplyDeleteAlthough I'm sure I'll be informed very quickly if Katie Nichols is an evil purveyor of evil lies. On an evil gossip mongering tabloid full of evil lies. Apologies for the hyperbole; but I do love those comments!
Well as it goes you have to question that the article was from the DM who is known to continually fabricate stories ( or at least I do)!
DeleteRoyalfan- I enjoyed your comment in "the back of the beyond." (00:23) But the trip is long and I shall not return. ha!
ReplyDeleteJust a thought-Harry was praised by some for looking manly and matured. Why is Kate described as aging and
looking older? (for one thing, Harry hasn't given birth twice or run the media gauntlet and a beard can cover a multiude
of sins)
Why couldn't it be said that Catherine is becoming more womanly? Her face maturing...
A bit of a double-standard?
Harry does look dashing, though. Like a young Phillip in the Navy. 99
All true, 99. Ironically, I recall Kate being referred to as looking "old" almost from the early days of her relationship with William. Just file it under "the lady doth protest too much." ;)
DeleteHarry is, indeed, a hunk! However, methinks his sexy ginger beard looks a bit speckled with gray. In the forum of public opinion, why do males walk away unscathed when they exhibit little signs of aging? Adverse pandemonium breaks out if Kate shows a single gray strand. (And Harry is younger than Kate!) It's just not fair, is it?
DeleteI agree with you. I am tired of hearing comments about how old and tired she looks. I feel it is irrelevant.
DeleteI liked the outfit, and she seemed to have a good time yesterday.
I think her bangs look great when her hair is half way up and I am excited to see them as part of an up-do. I think they would look better when her hair is down, if she had more layers in front (like a face frame) so that they didn't stand in stark contrast to the long length of her hair. Fun that she is trying something new, though! :)
ReplyDeleteSo many yes/no comments on the color I thought I'd chime in that I love the color of this coat - and I would since I bought (invested I should say) a wonderful trench coat in this color last fall (hmm 2014...maybe that was an "on trend" color that fall?) It really is more wearable than you think for a color. If you are tempted give the color it a try next time you see it in a store some time..you might be surprised. I think the coat's design is sleek and stylish here too, no distracting wraps, pockets, tucks..etc... Very elegant. I initially liked the fringe so full disclosure that I am changing my tune...not that the fringe is bad, its nice..but I'm getting to a place where I think she should be bold and go ALL in and get an entirely new look going. I think some serious layers and a shoulder length cut would do worlds for her, and if its done right and looks great it could be a real confidence booster (not that she needs it, I think she looks confident and great, I'm only saying that because sometimes people fear change and how they'd feel with a new cut and if its done right I think she'd feel terrific). Anyway...that's my hope, something in time for the State Dinner perhaps? If not she always looks elegant and lovely and I suspect William loves her hair just as is...On that note, she and William look JUST fine, no problems in that relationship and I hope the Tabs give that a rest for a few minutes at least....As for Harry? What a charmer...I really wish Diana could see him now...ariagurl
ReplyDeleteHello everyone,
ReplyDeleteI wanted to address a couple of issues in the comments section.
Firstly, a common issue. As I've mentioned before, any blogger can attest to the fact comments get lost. This has happened to almost every single poster here, however, a couple of posters appear to feel I'm selectively deleting their comments. This is untrue. I do not delete a comment without very good reason. I've always strived to be a fair moderator - a task I don't always get right - but one I put an immense amount of thought and consideration into.
I'm concerned these comments are putting off new readers from joining in. For anyone who has an issue with comment moderation please email me and I'll be very happy to discuss it with you.
On another note, I notice patterns emerging when moderating, such as posters specifically targeting one poster, and one person using several pseudonyms. These are all tasks which make moderating quite difficult and I feel are deeply unfair to the community we have here. Please choose one username and stick with that.
We have new posters and readers lately and I'd like to welcome them! We've also had new posters who appear to have an axe to grind with me personally, as well as a specific group of our readers. I'm aware of the people who are doing this and again, I respectfully ask you to stop. It's not fun for anyone and I will not publish such comments. This is not the place for petty squabbles; we're here to discuss the royals and I personally feel there's been an upsurge in constructive debate - something I would love to see continue.
We have a wonderful group of intelligent, witty posters here, and whilst there's differing opinions, I believe we all share a common goal, our interest in Kate and wanting to see the Cambridges and the monarchy prosper.
Thank you all so much for taking the time to read and apologies for the off-topic note :)
Charlotte so glad you finally addressed this.
