We're doing something quite different (and rather fun I hope) today. There's been an ongoing debate about Kate's outfit at Portsmouth for her last official outing and readers have expressed an appetite to discuss something completely new. Our commenter Julia from Leominster came up with the brilliant suggestion of readers choosing a look for Kate, and I thought this could make a very interesting post!
For those experiencing the condition known as "royal withdrawals", we do expect Kate's schedule to pick up in September and have plans to continue our 'Kate Loves' posts in the meantime (we're doing research for a very romantic one at present).

For those experiencing the condition known as "royal withdrawals", we do expect Kate's schedule to pick up in September and have plans to continue our 'Kate Loves' posts in the meantime (we're doing research for a very romantic one at present).
Back to today's post...
You're Kate's stylist for the day and have to choose a professional yet stylish ensemble for the Duchess for one of these following events:
- A gown for a star-studded evening gala attended by the Cambridges.
- A sophisticated look suitable for a daytime engagement - it could be a visit to one of Kate's engagements or a Royal Foundation.
- A casual look for Kate's everyday style.
- A wedding.
Here's how to submit your choice:
- Leave a comment with your suggestion. Please include links to the designer/retailer in order for me to obtain images and to share your selection.
- Don't forget to leave a name or a moniker of some sort to ensure I can appropriately credit your look.
- The look can simply consist of one item, for example, a dress. If you wish, however, you can include footwear, accessories, hairstyle suggestions, etc.
- The look should be in keeping with royal protocol (for example, we're not going to see the Duchess turning up to a royal event in a leather mini dress).
- I will be adding your choices sporadically as time permits.
You may choose any designer/brand, high street or couture. This is entirely up to you (after all, you're Kate's stylist for the day :)). To help you get started, if you don't already have something in mind, here are links to some of Kate's favoured brands and online retailers stocking her go-to brands.
For example; I've selected two looks I would love to see Kate wear. For the evening gala look, I've chosen this short-sleeve beaded mesh gown by Catherine Deane. I think it's stunning, elegant, regal and would prove a timeless choice for Kate. Teamed with an updo to showcase the back of the gown (and of course a tiara). For look number two - a daytime engagement - I would absolutely love to see the Duchess wearing this look by Beulah London. The printed blouse, cigarette pants and chic accessories make for very an effortlessly stylish ensemble.

Evening look by Catherine Deane / Daytime engagement look by Beulah London |
Our first two evening look submissions are in!
Trish - The Alexander McQueen Strapless Satin Gown featuring a boned bodice teamed with a pair of Sleek Christian Louboutin pumps.
London Lady - The showstopping Ted Baker Embellished Maxi Dress worn with simply black pumps or sandals. London Lady noted the dress would look wonderful on the Duchess and it would prove something of a departure for her because it's backless.

Gertrude - Suggests a longer version of the Oscar de la Renta Guipure Lace Print Mikado Dress with the Nude Lace Pointy Toe Jimmy Choo pumps. Gertrude continued to describe accessories "Kate’s Bespoke McQueen Red clutch, Kate’s Acron earring from the wedding. Because I’m styling Kate and can do what ever I want. Along with her Diamond bracelet (wedding gift from Prince Charles?)
With a sleek ponytail with a bump".
Becca - The Caroline Herrera Strapless Lace Underlay Embellished Gown with a mermaid silhouette and body contouring seams. Becca notes the dress would work beautifully with Kate's colouring and she would team it with a pair of Roger Vivier Satin Bow D'Orsay Crystal Sphere Pumps.

Julia (the designer) from Leominster - Of course Julia, is the lady who came up with the idea for this post and has made some fabulous suggestions:
'My own choice is quite indulgent. I love Trompe-l'œil. I'm taking the idea of the Jenny Packham cocktail dress Kate wore in New Zealing and making it into a long black velvet princess-line gown. (I believe the cocktail dress was made in crepe.) But instead of the diamante ferns, I have another idea.
What I imagined on the black velvet gown certain of the queen's most iconic brooches done in diamante on the bodice for a dazzling effect.
I chose Queen Adelaide's Brooch; the Queen Victoria's Fringe; the Diamond Cockade (Associated with and altered by Queen Alexandra) the Cullinan V (associated with Queen Mary) and the Queen Mother's palm leaf, along with the Jardine Star (A Favourite of the queen and Julia) - Thus linking Kate with great queens of the past back to Queen Adelaide and adding a lovely bit of theatre.
I imagined this fantasy dress worn at a fantasy exhibit at the National Portrait Gallery of queens of the past including all of those listed above. Kate, of course is patron of the gallery.'
A dress that could be customised to fit the brief? Kate's black lace Temeperley London Amoret Gown. Julia continued:
'I would make this gown a little more princess-line - although this is optional. I would make it all in black velvet and eliminate the lace. (Although sheer black illusion could be used in place of the lace. I would then add the diamante trim as described above. These brooches would be embroidered on the bodice of the gown.
I'm sure Temperley or Packham or Macqueen or Catherine Walker have the staff to create such a gown. Kate's usual black shoes and bag would do well. I would insist she wear her hair up to show off the magnificent embroidery on this purely notional gown. Below is a Catherine Walker gown from 1994 that captures the type of look I want. If we can't do custom, this would be my choice of gown for the same occasion.'
A graphic encompassing Julia's suggestions: Kate's bespoke black Jenny Packham dress, the Temperley London Amoret, the Catherine Walker black velvet gown, and the brooches which would adorn Julia's gown.

Christine from WWKD - The Hobbs London Magnolia Coat is described as "a romantic style, exquisitely cut and featuring our painterly pink magnolia bloom". The garment is also on sale reduced from £189 to £129. Christine notes it would be gorgeous for a wedding or a royal engagement and she would pair it with Kate's L.K. Bennett Sledge pumps and the Jane Taylor hat the Duchess wore in Belgium.
Cassie - Suggests the Really Wild Clothing Permberley Coat and matching Sleeveless Fitted Dress as an option for Kate to wear to a wedding. We actually looked at these pieces as possibilities for the Duchess earlier this year. Again, the coat is significantly reduced from £395 to £195 and the dress discounted from £175 to £85.

Eliza - "For the #1 formal option: 'Needle and Thread', a brand she has yet to wear, would be PERFECT for Kate! It's a UK brand, but it works with artisans in India to create hand-embroidered gowns". Eliza selected the brand's stunning Sequin -Embellished Crepe and Tulle Gown worn with a pair of Aquazzura Belgravia lace up pumps. The Rocio Clementine Clutch adds a pop of colour to the ensemble; the look would be completed with Kate's Links of London Hope Egg Earrings and her Tiffany bracelet.
Bea - Beginning her comments with a sentiment echoed by many: "I think it's time for a ball gown". Bea chose the sweeping Oscar de la Renta Strapless Sweetheart Floral Applique Gown. To complement the gown - the edgy McQueen Knuckle Studded Leather Box Clutch and the Gianvito Rossi Crisscross Ankle-Wrap Suede Sandals. Jewels from the royal vault complete the fairytale look. The Queen's South African necklace and bracelet and Queen Mary's Cluster Earrings.

Lisa - A gown for Kate to wear to a star-studded gala? The vibrant Roland Mouret Ruloe Gown. The floor-length gown features a boat neckline and cut out details in the back. Lisa would accessorise with Queensbee Moon Earrings, Jimmy Choo Anouk pumps and a smaller version of the Jimmy Choo Rosetta Clutch.
Nora21 - We have a chic look which would be perfect for a daytime engagement from Nora. The look begins with a stylish pink Stella McCartney blazer teamed with separates from L.K. Bennett: the powder pink Elodie Tapered Trousers, the Nema Sleeveless Top and the Flo Emilia Clutch Bag. Like Lisa, Nora chose the Jimmy Choo Anouk Pumps and completed the look with the Links of London Signature Drop Earrings.

Courtney from NC - "Zuhair Murad is a designer Catherine hasn't showcased before but one that would work beautifully on her. The dress is a cranberry color, similar to the Seraphine coat dress from NYC, and has a fuller skirt than she usually favors. It would obviously need to be lined more fully but it is modest enough for official functions." To complete the regal look Courtney chose an elegant updo and jewels similar to Kate's Mouawad pieces.
Laina in NJ - I had a feeling Elie Saab might be a popular choice for this post. Laina selected the designer's Lace-Trim Ruffle-Front Gown. The beige crepe creation is complemented by the nude lace Jimmy Choo Amika Pumps, Kate's Annoushka pearl earrings and the jewellers Dream Catcher Cuff or alternatively the Cascading White Pearl Bracelet.

Harper North - Submitted three looks for the Duchess to wear. First, the formal look comprising of a decadent pearl fully embroidered lace Elie Saab haute couture gown worn with celebrity favourite - Stuart Weitzman Nudist Sandals.
For a daytime look it's the J Crew Double-cloth lady day coat, the Lily Pulitzer Bree Striped Fit & Flare Dress worn with Kate's L.K. Bennett Sledge Pumps For a sporting event Harper chose the J Crew Merino Striped Sweater Dress and the Stuart Weitzman Purity Wedges.

Linda from California - noted she resisted temptation by not choosing an evening look for the Duchess. Instead, she opted to style a look suitable for a wedding or engagement. Linda chose the Oscar de la Renta Floral-Print Dress with a pair of strappy Jimmy Choo sandals and Kate's black bow clutch. Linda also suggested this Caroline Herrera pantsuit, DVF clutch and striking red Prada pumps as another potential look.

Linda |
Courtney from NC- styled another look for Kate to wear to a wedding. The Fadi el Khoury coat with gloves similar to the runway look below and the Hobbs London Blue Twitchill Dress underneath. Hobbs Cleo Court Shoes and pearl jewellery polish off the sophisticated look.
Sonja from Bavaria - "I have created a gala look (number 1). I would love to see Kate wear this ball gown (it reminds me a bit of the light yellow dress she designed herself and wore to the zoo in Australia) even though it's a prom dress." Below we see the High Neck Illusion Ball Gown, the Jimmy Choo Dory 100 Sandals, Stuart Weitzman Muse Clutch and very pretty earrings.

Courtney/Sonia |
Evi - A sleek ivory jersey gown by Badgley Mischka with the Jimmy Choo Lang mirrored-leather sandals and the gold tone Kotur Deco Clutch. Evi selected the look because she loves to see the Duchess wearing light colours.
Kate Middleton Jewellery - chose the ponte jersey Erdem Ohana Dress. The sheath silhouette is certainly a favourite of Kate's. The look would be completed with Kate's black satin Prada pumps, a black clutch and Diana's sapphire and diamond drop earrings.

On the right we have the Badgley Mischka 3/4-Sleeve Metallic Houndstooth Blouson Dress with the Jimmy Choo 'Addison' d'Orsay pumps.

Our Jeremiah 29:11 Life - would love to see Kate in more separates and chose a crisp shirt by Michael Kors with the chic Topshop Airtex Striped Prom Skirt. To finish the look, L.K. Bennett pumps, pearls and a half up-half down hairstyle.
Anon C from Italy - Chose a sophisticated tweed suit by British designer Stella McCartney. "This is a smart daytime look and the designer is British. The trousers are so different from the usual skinny, they are wonderful and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark use a lot that cut."

Jeremiah / Anon C |
Shantel - shared her picks for a smart look which would be perfect for a meeting or engagement via email. Describing the Oscar de la Renta Checked Tweed Coat, Shantel said, "Instead of a regular blazer, I would to go with a coat that has a 'Kate' silhouette but is kind of 'funky', too. This Oscar de la Renta coat is one of my obsessions right now." The coat is styled with the sleeveless Ellen Tracy top, Zara straight cut trousers, Jimmy Choo Abel pumps, a statement necklace by David Yurman and earrings with black diamonds by the same jeweller.
Ashley Marie - left a comment on our Facebook page with her choice for an everyday look for the Duchess by Really Wild Clothing. The look includes the brand's Lancaster Jacket and Roll Neck Jumper with Kate's chocolate suede Spanish Boots.

Shantel/Ashley Marie |
Sam Tennessee - The Belonda Green Evening Dress with Lace. "I know Kate usually goes for more well-known designs but I think this green dress is just beautiful and would go so lovely with her eyes."
Marta - chose her dream look for Kate to wear to a gala with William. The look consists of a dazzling sequinned gown by Krikor Jabotian - very much encompassing a similar style to Jenny Packham. The dress is styled with the aptly named Christian Louboutin So Kate pumps and a pair of Chopard pink diamond earrings.

Marianna - For a daytime look for the Duchess Marianna combined several fantastic brands. Below we see the Hobbs London Green Aphra Coat, the striking print Mary Katrantzou Spellbound Top, the L.K. Bennett Claire Wrap Skirt, Emmy London Olivia pumps and the Wilbur & Gussie Edith Inkwell Bag. Marianna would raid the royal jewellery vault to add a regal finishing touch to the look - choosing the Brazilian aquamarine and diamond earrings.
Anonymous - The ravishing red Round-Neck Ruffle Crepe Gown by Elie Saab. From the product description: "Elie Saab truly understands the transformative powers of a fantastic evening gown, as this scarlet creation proves. It's cut from mid-weight crepe to a slim and sleek silhouette, and detailed with precisely placed ruffles that flatter the figure." Anonymous would pair it with glittery sandals.

Julia - is one of several readers who commented for the first time to share her look (A welcome to the comments section to you all, we hope to see you around regularly!). Julia selected a white beaded gown with a vibrant blue skirt from Jenny Packham's SS15 Cruise Collection with Kate's Jimmy Choo Vamp Sandals for an evening look.
For daytime Julia loved the look of the latest collection at Really Wild Clothing. Below we see The Summer Jacket in Fawn Rose and matching skirt and the pretty pink Osbourne Jacket which Julia described as "tailored and Parisian"; she would pair it with slacks.

Darlene from Chicago - "Okay, I went a little nutty with this! I put together a small collection of casual wear for Kate to replace her 'uniform' of jeans and stripes." We have a selection of separates beginning with the Tory Burch Madison Cardigan, Fillip Chinos and Brigitte Blouse. We also have the J Brand Santa Fe Jacket, the Three Dots Collette Cardigan, the Topshop Tiered Cami Dress, Susana Monaco tea skirt and several pieces from Zara.

Anonymous - chose the elegant BHLDN Grace Gown. "This could be a beautiful formal look for Kate, perhaps with the tulle toned down a bit so it doesn't look so bridal. I love the cream, but it could be dyed a different color as well, like how she does with Jenny Packham gowns."
Carolyn - would love to see Kate wearing a strapless Elie Saab Haute Couture Gown from the S/S14 Collection. "I would pair it with her Tiffany diamonds by the yard bracelet, the heavenly necklaces triple stone round pearl drops, and her Jimmy Choo vamp pumps."
![]() |
Anonymous/Carolyn |
Anonymous - The Balenciaga Embellished Stretch-Crepe Midi Dress styled with popular Christian Louboutin So Kate pumps. Completing the look with beautiful accessories - the Charlotte Olympia Pandora Clutch Box and the Annoushka Frost Earrings.
Rebecca from Sweden - "My outfit is planned to work in a full day of engagements since Kate usually "bunch together" her engagement. First a event with the Irish Guards (not the Shamrock event) and then an inside event where she removes her coat and hat. Let's start with my choices!"
We have a bespoke Katherine Hooker similar to the one below with longer sleeves and a gold clasp. Underneath, Kate's Whistles 'Sofie Rae' dress worn with the Tory Burch Robinson Reversible Logo Leather Belt. Rebecca would style the look with Kate's Prada blue satin pumps, her Anya Hindmarch Marano clutch. Gold Plated Acorn necklace, Tiffany Cabochon by the yard earrings, Cartier Shamrock Brooch and a ring. The look would be completed with a bespoke hat.

Sofy - selected a regal evening look for the Duchess: a strapless green Elie Saab Haute Couture gown with mint Gianvito Rossi sandals, the Prada satin gather clutch. For jewels to complement the look Sofy turned to the royal vault and accessorised with the Godman Necklace, the Delhi Durbar bracelet and matching earrings. An updo to show off the jewels completes the look.
Amy, Detroit Michigan - turned to Tory Burch for an alternative to Kate's "sporting uniform". Below we see the Ribbed Cotton Polo Shirt (reduced from £240 to £120 at present), The Klarissa Skinny Flare Jeans and the Iggy Lace-Up Sneakers. Amy would style the look with, "Hair up in a messy bun on top of her head, and some diamond studs, along with her Cartier watch will complete the look."

Heaven - chose a look suitable for a daytime or evening event. Take a look at the Alexander McQueen Leaf-Crepe Skater Dress, the L.K. Bennett Lupin peplum jacket, Louboutin shoes and the eye-catching Jimmy Choo Candy Clutch. Heaven described the look: "I think this dress and blazer combo is classic but the accessories add a little spin! I would love Kate to be a little more bold with her shoes and clutches, choosing more colorful ones that could make her outfits look more youthful".
For a formal look, it's the Joanne Almagro Agethe Black Gown styled with the beautiful Annoushka
18ct rose gold and rhodolite garnet shard triple-drop earrings, and a clutch by Elie Saab.

Bluhare - was looking through House of Worth antique gowns when she discovered the beautiful gown shown below. "It's over 100 years old so Kate can't get it, but it's magnificent I think. It's regal, and it's got sweep and drape but it's not overwhelming." To complete the look a tiara similar to the Cambridge Lovers Knot and Queen Alexandra's necklace and, "A champagne colored mesh reticule with matching slippery things (but no pink fuzzy ones with bunny ears!) will finish it off."
Miol Mor - put together a gala evening look for Kate consisting of the Dolce & Gabbana Ruched Floral-Print Gown, the Jimmy Choo Anouk pumps (a popular choice among readers), the Jimmy Choo Ruby clutch, and yellow diamond jewellery.

Royalfan - selected two cocktail dress for HRH: the Monique Lhuilier Sequin Sheath Dress and the Theia Sleeveless Illusion Dress. For day wear "I would like to see more suits for daytime engagements; I believe they are younger looking than coat dresses, and can be more sophisticated and professional than some dresses". Below we see chic suits by Catherine Walker, St John and Armani.
We also see evening gowns by Monique Lhuillier and Zuhair Murad and two pairs of Jimmy Choo shoes - the Elaine Strappy Sandals and the Tilly patent slingbacks.

We're very excited to see your choices!
Oooh this is such fun!
ReplyDeleteMy submission is for NO 1 the gala look. This gown by Alexander McQueen http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/592226/Alexander_McQueen/strapless-satin-gown with a killer pair of Loubotins http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/504253/Christian_Louboutin/decollete-100-satin-pumps
Oh, I love the simple line of the dress and can totally see it being Kate's style! :)
Deletelove that gown. With some substantial bling earrings and a dazzling clutch, perfect.
Deletehttp://www.tedbaker.com/us/Womens/Clothing/Dresses/JAZZMYN-Embellished-open-back-maxi-dress-Black/p/119790-00-BLACK
ReplyDeleteI am a huge fan of Ted Baker and love most of the looks although they are often a bit risky for the duchess. I love this black dress for a movie premiere - The Duchess would look wonderful in this dress. She doesn't show her back often so that is another reason I choose this dress. Simple black pumps or black sandals.
For her hair, I would love to see a slick side updo: hopefully this link works - except no feather in the hair.

London Lady,
DeleteI would so love to see Kate in that beautiful gown with some perfect diamond dangle earrings and a serious diamond bracelet.
Kate is going to a Evening Reception and dinner at Buckingham Palace.
ReplyDeleteThis dress Oscar de la Renta, but bespoke. I would length it a little to so it falls below the knee, or Maybe floor length, with full length sleeves. http://www.oscardelarenta.com/must-haves/guipure-lace-print-mikado-dress
Jimmy Choo shoes http://us.jimmychoo.com/en/women/shoes/anouk/nude-lace-pointy-toe-pumps-ANOUKLAC120008.html
With Kate’s Bespoke Mc Queen Red clutch
Kate’s Acron earring from the wedding. Because I’m styling Kate and can do what ever I want. Along with her Dimond bracelet (wedding gift from Prince Charles?)
With a sleek ponytail with a bump.
We have never seen her wear a ponytail with a bump. That is so classic and would look so good on her (if done right). She really does need us. No other stylist has studied her like we have, and we see the finished look in print and video, so we know what we are talking about. :)
DeleteI was going to suggest a messy ponytail look, but you know the media would jump right on that. Kate usually plays it safe, but has surprised us a few times.
DeleteOh, a bumpy ponytail would look really good :) And the way she is goining with experimenting with different versions of pony tails (the low/high, fancy/casual etc) it wouldn't surprise me if she turn up in one in the future :)
DeleteAlso on the dress, I think the mid-length would work better than the full-length since it's a rather heavy fabric :)
This was a really great Idea!! Thanks Julia from Leominster
ReplyDeleteDon't you agree Julia: Charlotte is a genius. And your idea was fabulous! So much fun :)
DeleteCharlotte is absolutely a genius, and I'm afraid this is giving her a lot of work - but it's so much fun.
DeleteMaybe we can all nominate Charlotte for one of those blog awards. I'm serious.
DeleteJulia, do you know anything about that kind of stuff?
Wow! What a very fun idea! I will come back with mine when I've thuroughly thought it through! (Haha, that was a lot of th-ou-gh-ing xD)
ReplyDeleteAlso, I very much look forward to the "Kate Loves" post! And I wanna thank you for having taken your time to deal with this bunch over here when on your honeymoon! That's dedication!!
Yes, thank you Charlotte. :)
ReplyDeleteBling, bling, bling and more bling Kate. It is there. Enjoy it. :)
ReplyDeleteWOW
ReplyDeleteThose gowns are superlative. I like them SO much better than any she has worn to date. I hope she reads this blog. She definitely needs us. :)
Thanks Julia for the brilliant Idea and thank you Charlotte for following through.
I want those gowns. :)
Yes, wonderful idea Charlotte and Julia!!!
DeleteOh man, I want to do this every day. I love fashion, and if I can't be a Duchess, then I'd love to dress one, especially Kate!
ReplyDeleteFor option #1, I chose a Carolina Herrera evening gown. Not only would Kate's slim figure wear this incredibly well, but the dreamy colors would work beautifully with her skin tone and hair color: http://www.bergdorfgoodman.com/Carolina-Herrera-Strapless-Lace-Underlay-Embellished-Gown-Blue-Silver/prod111210174_cat285305__/p.prod?icid=&searchType=EndecaDrivenCat&rte=%252Fcategory.service%253FitemId%253Dcat285305%2526pageSize%253D30%2526No%253D0%2526Ns%253DPCS_SORT%2526refinements%253D732%252C721&eItemId=prod111210174&cmCat=product
I chose these Roger Vivier heels to compliment: http://www.bergdorfgoodman.com/Roger-Vivier-Satin-Bow-d-Orsay-Crystal-Sphere-Pump/prod110930005_cat207102__/p.prod?icid=&searchType=EndecaDrivenCat&rte=%252Fcategory.service%253FitemId%253Dcat207102%2526pageSize%253D30%2526No%253D0%2526Ns%253DPCS_SORT%2526refinements%253D&eItemId=prod110930005&cmCat=product
This is a very fun idea, thank you!!
London Lady,
ReplyDeleteI also like the little gold band around the heels. nice.
Julia, The Chooser of The Royal Bling
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU, :)
Oh fun, I will be working on it!
ReplyDeleteAs noted in the last post I did a "Julia" custom couture gown. I submit it again here. I've added a link to a Temperley gown that could be adjusted to the purpose.
ReplyDeleteMy own choice is quite indulgent.
I chose Queen Adelaide's Brooch; the Queen Victoria's Fringe; the Diamond Cockade (Associated with and altered by Queen Alexandra) the Cullinan V (associated with Queen Mary) and the Queen Mother's palm leaf, along with the Jardine Star (A Favourite of the queen and Julia) -
Thus linking Kate with great queens of the past back to Queen Adelaide and adding a lovely bit of theatre.
I imagined this fantasy dress worn at a fantasy exhibit at the National Portrait Gallery of queens of the past including all of those listed above. Kate, of course is patron of the gallery.
Here's a link to the brooches http://queensjewelvault.blogspot.com/p/brooches.html and the site here for Kate in New Zealand http://hrhduchesskate.blogspot.com/search?q=new+zealand. Alas, I have no talent for photoshopping and as a very tied and grumpy Mr Leo just informed me - we don't even have photoshop.
A dress that could be adjusted to my intent as is follows: https://www.google.com/search?q=black+velvet+evening+gown+british+designer&biw=1025&bih=456&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAmoVChMI6Luw5YiYxwIVRDuICh1-nQFV#tbm=isch&q=black+velvet+evening+gown+temperley&imgdii=y8xVT-RhJp1dfM%3A%3By8xVT-RhJp1dfM%3A%3B6CyU0JYHMKHbWM%3A&imgrc=y8xVT-RhJp1dfM%3A
Another link: AmoVChMI6Luw5YiYxwIVRDuICh1-nQFV#tbm=isch&q=black+velvet+evening+gown+temperley&imgrc=y8xVT-RhJp1dfM%3A
I would make this gown a little more princess-line - although this is optional. I would make it all in black velvet and eliminate the lace. (Although sheer black illusion could be used in place of the lace.
I would then add the diamante trim as described above. The specific links to the brooches I chose are: http://queensjewelvault.blogspot.com/2012/07/queen-adelaides-brooch.html http://queensjewelvault.blogspot.com/2013/11/the-diamond-cockade-brooch.html

Thank you Julia for this excellent idea :)
DeleteI am absolutely loving all of your suggestions. We have quite a few budding stylists on here :)
Charlotte, you are right, there are some budding stylists here, I am in AWE!
DeleteYou're good, Julia. You too, Charlotte.
DeleteYou three, everyone else. Love the looks up there.
Since my instructions are rather overwhelming for you Charlotte - I sugges this vintage Catherine Walker - as noted above - for the same event at the National Portrait Galley. I think it is a timeless and wonderful design for Kate

Love the choices so far submitted - Kate would look fabulous in any of them. Charlotte - your choices are amazing. And anonymous - appreciate your brooch suggestions - they would be great for my design too.
Julia let me know if I used the correct Catherine Walker gown, thank you :)
DeleteActually, it wasn't the one I intended (the link may have been no good) and the only thing that worries me is that the one posted may be one of Diana's gowns that was auctioned - I'm not sure.
DeleteHere's another link to Catherine Walker's site and a slightly more sedate gown than I chose but one that shows the Tromp l'oeil look I was trying to descibe. It's in the third row centre and has a diamante collar and cap sleeves - I would replace the diamante collar with my brooch design. http://www.catherinewalker.com/archive-carousel/#
Here's a link to the first very daring gown with tromp l'oeil and a daring back. Hopefully a better link. https://duccnguyen.wordpress.com/tag/evening-dress/
I'm amazed at the gorgeous choices people have chosen - a huge treat! And so much appreciate your effort Charlotte. I love that Oscar de la Renta in Mikado and Guipure - fabulous fabrics and perfect for Kate with her long waist. All the gowns are amazing - Kate would look wonderful in any of them. I love your choice and also the Ted Baker - a bare back is something a royal lady can wear - and an interesting back is great for those who see her from behind.
I'm excited to learn about Needle and Thread - with the charitable connection it seems meant for Kate and is such a lovely gown - and Oscar de la Renta does seem like a designer who would be great for Kate now she has branced into American designs. And that Herrera would be so daring - it would really be a great step for her - love the soft pink of the day outfits and am looking forward to seeing more!
Thanks for doing this so beautifully Charlotte and right at the end of your honeymoon - having the shoes and bags adds a lot.
Also just noticed that on the second page of Catherine Walker is the other dress I referred to..http://www.catherinewalker.com/archive-carousel/# Top row, far right. There are some other wonderful gowns there too - they do the fabulous diamante embroidery I was thinking of.
DeleteThank you. I wasn't sure which one it was. I'll update now, it's a gorgeous dress :)
DeleteThis is like playing a grown-up version of paper dolls! How fun! :) I like what people have been choosing, a lot. I do feel that if the HRH is ever going to take a more risqué, daring approach fashion (i.e. backless or strapless dresses), the time to do it is NOW, in her 30s. Not that a woman in her 40ss can't carry that style, but in a royal context it might be harder to pull off. That's my only wish–a bit more vavavoom and some more sparkle (BLING BLING) at evening events (like that strapless black dress/breathtaking diamond/ruby set she wore a few years back). Silvia
ReplyDeleteYeah, this is really fun! It could be a fun thing to come back to in "slower" times. Having everyone make a look for a certain event :)
DeleteAlso, I agree that this is the time. And she does it, just not all the time :) Remember the baby blue Jenny Packham!
What a fun project! I would love to see this coat on Kate: https://www.hobbs.co.uk/product/display?productID=0115-3246-9111L00&productvarid=0115-3246-9111L00-WHITE%20MULTI-10&refpage=coats-jackets
ReplyDeleteI would pair it with her Sledge pumps and the Jane Taylor hat she wore in Belgium. I think this outfit would be gorgeous for a wedding OR royal engagement.

ReplyDeleteI have a board on Pinterest called 'Dressing the Royals'. I have a lot of fun with it although not many people visit it. I think you should create a board based on your idea here. I would certainly follow it!
ReplyDeleteThat is a splendid idea Angela. Feel free to share a link to your board :)
DeleteI'm so happy to hear that I'm not the only one with a board to dress the royal family though my board is specific to the Duchess.
DeleteFor the #1 formal option: 'Needle and Thread', a brand she has yet to wear, would be PERFECT for Kate! It's a UK brand, but it works with artisans in India to create hand-embroidered gowns, which are mostly less than 500 pounds. This one has lovely colouring and incredible movement, but is still very classic and formal.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.net-a-porter.com/us/en/product/570537#
Some trendy Aquazzura shoes, but in a soft coordinating colour, sort of an updated version of the pink bow shoes she wore with her original blush jenny packham. Made in Florence....perhaps a nice nod to her gap yah? Gorgeous!
https://www.net-a-porter.com/us/en/product/526036
Would add a pop of colour to an otherwise monochromatic look, this rocio clutch! (I loved to recreate the colour combo of when Kate wore the light blue/minty Jenny packham with the blush bow shoes...) Also she's the duchess of CAMBRIDGE...the university's eponymous colour is the exact shade of this pretty clutch!

I'm not much of a stylist so I won't venture an entry but curious to see everyone's looks. Charlotte, I love the Catherine Deane dress you picked above. Kate would look stunning in it.
ReplyDeleteAlthough, I can't be the only one dying to see Kate in a leather mindress now?!
Now a leather minidress would generate some interesting debate :)
DeleteI remember it being a bit of a discussion around Letizia wearing a leather dress recently! So it isn't without precedense! :P (I myself am not a fan.. Not because it's leather but because it doesn't look good)

Actually, I would love a leather mini on the right occasion - such as a sporting event - it would say, I'm young, I'm bold, I'm not afraid to kick up my heels when the time is right.

DeleteGala Look #1:
ReplyDeleteDress: Zuhair Murad is a designer Catherine hasn't showcased before but one that would work beautifully on her. The dress is a cranberry color, similar to the Seraphine coat dress from NYC, and has a fuller skirt than she usually favors. It would obviously need to be lined more fully but it is modest enough for official functions. She looks so regal when she wears her hair in an upcoming and anchoring a tiara is easier. The color of the necklace and earrings she wore to the Sun Trust Awards, with the black velvet gown, would be stunning with this gown. It would be even more amazing if the necklace had a tiara frame and she anchored it in an updo similar to the pictures. I included a picture of one of her most successful updos and a picture of Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden with beautiful tiara hair that would be beautiful on Catherine. She could wear a "simple" collet necklace to finish the jewelry off.

Oh, that dress! It's glorious! Nice choices.
DeleteI love that dress - the perfect colour for Kate!
DeleteI LOVE all the outfits, a lot.
DeleteThis gown leaves NO doubt who the princess is.
Kate would rock that color.
I love the blue dress and pearls too. yum
DeleteBecca,
DeleteVa va va voom. I love that dress and shoes.
I love all the gowns and this is one of my favorites. Caroline Herrera knows how to spice up formal in a classy way. Kate needs to let William know she left her mom duds at home. :)

She already has the earrings which are BEAUTIFUL and with this dress and the earrings, I would avoid a necklace and go for a statement bracelet of which I've selected 2 options.
This is fun....I'm loving everyone's selections!
LAINA,
DeleteThat Gown is so beautifully unusual and so sophisticated. I have seen a lot of gowns and this is truly different. I love it and would buy it in a minute IF I had somewhere to where it. I love the shoes, everything. That would look so good on Kate with a bumped ponytail, ya think? :)
It would really work with most styles, I would most certainly say an updo as not to take away from the neckline.
DeleteCharlotte YOU ARE A GENIUS!!!
ReplyDeleteYou girls are goooood. :) Do we know "our" Kate or what?
ReplyDeleteAs hard as it is, I'm going to not style Kate in a gown. I am a fan of Oscar de la Renta and came across this beautiful dress that she could wear to a friend's wedding or an engagement http://www.bergdorfgoodman.com/Oscar-de-la-Renta-Floral-Print-Long-Sleeve-Dress-Soft-Pink/prod110110011_cat330127__/p.prod?icid=&searchType=EndecaDrivenCat&rte=%252Fcategory.service%253FitemId%253Dcat330127%2526pageSize%253D30%2526No%253D0%2526refinements%253D&eItemId=prod110110011&cmCat=product and while Kate would pair with a conservative shoes, I'd like her to wear some heeled sandals every now an then like these Jimmy Choo http://www.cp-d.co.uk/uk-jimmy-choo-patent-leather-strappy-sandals-royalblue-p-46.html and then her black clutch with the bow (staying feminine). And eventually Kate needs a pant suit. I couldn't find one more perfect than this Carolina Herrara suit http://www.bergdorfgoodman.com/Carolina-Herrera-Peaked-Sleeve-One-Button-Blazer-Cowl-Neck-Peplum-Top-Double-Face-Wool-Skinny-Pants/prod112020041_cat243303__/p.prod?icid=&searchType=EndecaDrivenCat&rte=%252Fcategory.service%253FitemId%253Dcat243303%2526pageSize%253D30%2526No%253D0%2526refinements%253D&eItemId=prod112020041&cmCat=product The black and white is classic and so why not pair it with these red suede Prada heels and her DVF leopard clutch https://www.italist.com/en/woman/shoes/scarpe-prada-camoscio-1/249055/291621?sembox_source=PolyvoreUS&utm_source=PolyvoreUS&utm_medium=cpc&sembox_content=Feed&utm_content=Feed With a sleek ponytail. The perfect outfit as the Patron of an organization she is meeting with regarding business.
ReplyDeleteThat's my selection - Linda from California
Wedding:
ReplyDeleteI have loved this coat since the first time I laid eyes on it. It is by Fadi El Khoury and it is a cream-ish sort of color. I love it with the gloves as well. Catherine has the right body type and coloring for the coat.
https://www.pinterest.com/pin/168181367306898612/
https://www.pinterest.com/pin/172755335679769571/
With this beautiful coat I would love to see her pair it with something feminine and frothy. This light blue dress from Hobbs would give it a classic feel that Catherine leans toward. The look would work for a wedding and also for certain engagements. Adding gloves like in the one picture of the coat would kick it up another notch. She could pair it with a simple pearl necklace and her Anoushka earrings. A simple updo would turn it from classy to regal.
https://www.hobbs.co.uk/product/display?productID=0115-5411-9094L00&productvarid=0115-5411-9094L00-MID%20BLUE%20MEL-8&refpage=dresses
As far as shoes go I would love to see it with something kicky that has loads of personality. She tends to be very safe with her footwear choices and would probably lean towards a court shoe similar to these shoes from Hobbs. It wouldn't be a horrible choice but not exciting either.

I am going to admit to all of you: I am a HORRIBLE dresser. So while I could pick something for Kate to wear, the poor thing would get more criticism than she did last post. SO, I'm first going to say that all of you ladies have beautiful taste, and I truly mean that from the heart. I wonder if any of you would want to dress me ;)
ReplyDeleteSecond; I'm just going to take the above outifits (at the time of my post) and say which one I'd like to see her in.
For a fundraiser/gala/hosting dignitaries:
I'd like to see her in Eliza's pick for dress with Becca's shoe choice, but in nude. I absolutely love the Chandelier earrings (and I know she has worn those a few times but I love them) Kate has borrowed from the Queen and would love to see those again or something similar.
For a wedding or trip abroad I'd love to see her in Gertrude's outfit.
You know, I never thought much about her clothes, as in, I was perfectly happy with her choices (although variety from her "uniform" for me would be nice too) but I see what you ladies were talking about. You have picked such lovely things for her. I'm a bit of a tomboy and my "go to outfit" is a pair of Jack Purcell Converse, jeans or a cargo type of pant and a white t-shirt, so you could imagine why I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to Kate's clothing choices. You all did such a fabulous job! Even if I didn't mention that I would like to see her in one of the above outifits, I still loved what you picked!! Great work ladies, I can't say it enough, I'm so impressed !!!!!!!
I am very impressed also Tammy. Would that Kate could see all these beautiful options.
DeleteGive it a try, Tammy, if you like. The nice thing is there is nothing to lose!
DeleteI think you will be better at it than you think Tammy. The beautiful choices are already out there. You just have to put the looks together.
DeleteYou have to start somewhere. :)
You are all very sweet to encourage me 😘
DeleteThe little blips that didn't come thru are supposed to be one missy face
DeleteJust a quick note to thank you all for your wonderful submissions. They are beautiful, you all have a great eye!
ReplyDeleteI'll be updating the post later today with any suggestions I haven't added yet, so do check back :)
Need help with computer literacy. How do I create the link from the designer website to insert it into my submission. Thanks
DeleteHello Barbara,
DeleteWhen you're on the retailers site click right click in the address bar and click "copy" then select "paste" when adding the piece here.
Thanks Charlotte,
DeleteI needed to know how to do that also. Yay, let the designing begin. :)
I have created a gala look (number 1)
ReplyDeleteI would love to see Kate wear this ball gown (it reminds me a bit of the light yellow dress she designed herself and wore to the zoo in Australia) even though it's a prom dress... I would have loved to wear this to my prom this year, however, I'm not tanned at all, my skin is way too pale for such a colour (and my hait is too light), but it would look goregous on sun-tanned brunette Kate!

This was a great idea and so much fun!
For the first formal option: I would like to see Kate in this outfit. I really like when she wear light colours.

And a gold clutch from Kotur: http://www.net-a-porter.com/us/en/product/615043
I would LOVE to see Kate in this Burberry Prorsum lace trench coat (http://www.style.com/slideshows/fashion-shows/resort-2016/burberry-prorsum/collection/27) paired with these Valentino pumps (http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/valentino-couture-bow-platform-pump-women/3139049?origin=category&BaseUrl=Pumps). It would be a great look for a wedding or a fancier day engagement. Another great wedding or cocktail party choice would be this gorgeous Badgley Mischka (http://www.neimanmarcus.com/Badgley-Mischka-3-4-Sleeve-Metallic-Houndstooth-Blouson-Dress/prod181370189_cat30870735__/p.prod?icid=&searchType=EndecaDrivenCat&rte=%252Fcategory.service%253FitemId%253Dcat30870735%2526pageSize%253D30%2526No%253D60%2526refinements%253D&eItemId=prod181370189&cmCat=product) with which I would pair these Jimmy Choo d'Orsay pumps (http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/jimmy-choo-addison-dorsay-pump-women/3971292?origin=category&BaseUrl=Pumps) in black.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun game! Thanks for all your hard work on the blog!
Best,
Anna
I absolutely love these!! It's great to have something from Burberry that really looks like Kate could wear it.
DeleteBut WATCH OUT CHARLOTTE, EVERYONE. If you click on the bracket things, the links don't work. You have to click inside. Most of you computer sophisticates probably know this but it stumped me and this coat and dress are too good and Kate-like to miss.
I am not aware of any time that Kate has worn Boden, but others looks from them that I believe would be perfect for her are their Betty Ottoman Dress and I can see her in either the Heather or the Veridian: http://www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Womens-Dresses/Work-Dresses/WH773/Womens-Betty-Ottoman-Dress.html. And in addition to a bootleg jean I would love to see her wear more trousers and this look is so Kate and aptly named too: the Charlotte cape: http://www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Womens-Coats-Jackets/Coats/WE508/Womens-Charlotte-Cape.html?searchtype=STYLE_JUMP. Worn with the Arianna pant (I think the Check print would be particularly chic):http://www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Womens-Trousers-Jeans/Trousers/WM392/Womens-Arianna-Pant.html (as shown in the print version of the Boden catalog.
ReplyDeletePam, I'm having trouble with your link, not sure why.
DeletePam- I love what you picked for Kate..... For ME! I'm going to put my order in for the cape for sure! It's expensive but I'll have it for a long time!!!! That dress is very Audrey Hepburn and I love it!
DeleteI absolutely adore the cape look! It's different, but so retro chic. And I agree that Boden would be a fantastic source for Kate.
DeleteFor a sophisticated look suitable for a daytime engagement, I would put her in the Erdem Reese dress:

She could also wear her sapphire and diamond drop earrings (the ones inherited from Princess Diana), black satin Prada pumps, and an black clutch.
It's not a shy look, but I would love to see her in bolder prints.
This post is a great idea. I do a similar category on my blog called "Choice Selections for Kate" (if anyone likes that sort of thing).
Love the idea! Just had to come out of the woodwork for this one :)
ReplyDeleteFor evening gown, I am torn between the following options:
Ralph & Russo floral gown: (lined, of course) http://www.ralphandrusso.com/media/Ralph%20%26%20Russo%20AW15%20Look-40%20Web%20%281%29.jpg
Zuhair Murad (with modified bodice): http://www.zuhairmurad.com/corporate3/images/9312/zuhairmurad-couture-fw15-16_33.jpg?width=1390
Zuhair Murad star gown: http://www.zuhairmurad.com/corporate3/images/8381/zuhairmurad-couture-fw15-16_32.jpg?width=1390
Hmm. Might make this one my final pick.
Daytime engagement:
Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress: http://www.dvf.com/dvf-rosie-leather-detail-wrap-dress/D659401U15_WRAP.html
A wedding:
Dolce & Gabbana dress:http://dgfashion.dunebuggysrl.netdna-cdn.com/dg-images-store/Winter_2016_women_collection_apparel/full/dolce-and-gabbana-winter-2016-woman-collection-79-zoom.jpg
For casual wear, I'd just like to see her in straight (not skinny) jeans, and a variety of blouses, shirts, and tops, with a few cardis and jackets.
I especially like the Dolce and Galbana dress. She would look fabulous in it.
DeleteEveryone's ideas are beautiful!!!! So hard to pick a favorite. I love your ideas Charlotte. If I were to pick, it would be along those lines. I wish I could play but my oldest daughter has broke her foot, so playing nursemaid for now but if I find the time, I will submit an idea or two. I hope Kate or someone in her camp sees this post, so she can realize that fashion can be fun.
ReplyDeleteJulia, this was a fantastic idea!! Great example of how to turn acrimonious discussion into a more positive one. We should do this more often.
Oh, I'm sorry to hear about your daughter! Warm wishes and hope you all can feel good :)
DeleteHope your daughter mends quickly. :)
DeleteI'm sorry to hear about your daughter and hope she's better quickly. I really appreciated your comments in the last posting - you really tried to analysis why we see things in different ways - which I think is very important.
DeleteThanks everybody! This is such a nice community!
DeleteWishing your daughter a very speedy recovery Erika.
DeleteThank you Charlotte:-)
DeleteHave your daughter help you pick something out Erika. That way you occupy her AND you both have fun!
DeleteThat's exactly what I ended up doing bluhare:-) She didn't like my selection however. She thought I should have chosen a gown with "lots of beads and feathers" ..... and of course a tiara :-)
DeleteFor a day look. We hardly ever see her in separates. I love this pale blue skirt and crisp white blouse. I'd pair it with trusty nude neutrals. Her favorite lk Bennett pumps, pearls, and maybe a half up hair style.

Comment: This is a smart daytime look and the designer is British. The trousers are so different from the usual skinny, they are wonderful and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark use a lot that cut.

ReplyDeleteI know Kate usually goes for more well known designs but I think this green dress is just beautiful and would go so lovely with her eyes
Hi Charlotte,
ReplyDeleteI always follow your blog because I think it's amazing! You do a very great job here! I've never commented before but I love the project you've started so I've decided to take part :)
My dream look for Kate it's perfect for a gala with Prince William

Oh, this is such a lovely idea, almost like playing with paper dolls :)
ReplyDeleteMy ideal outfit for a daytime engagement would be the 'Aprha' coat by Hobbs https://www.hobbs.co.uk/product/display?productID=0215-3278-1049L00&productvarid=0215-3278-1049L00-CAMEO-GREEN-8&refpage=coats-jackets
'Spellbound' top by Mary Katrantzou (Kate looks absolutely amazing in prints, I'd love to see her wear them more often) https://www.marykatrantzou.com/shop/blouses-and-tops/spellbound-top-calligraphy-lake?search=true
LK Bennett 'Clarie' wrap skirt http://www.lkbennett.com/Collections/Clothing/Skirts/Clarie-Wrap-Skirt/p/SKCLARIEPOLYESTERBlackBlack?show=All
The 'Olivia' courts in midnight suede by Emmy London (a shorter heel/different toe shape for a change!)http://www.emmyshoes.co.uk/collections/occasion/products/olivia-midnight-pointed-court-shoe#.VcY0XCVH6Uk
The 'Edith' cltuch in Inkwell by Wilbur & Gussie http://www.wilburandgussie.com/collections/edith/products/edith-inkwell
Then I'd LOVE to see her raiding the royal jewellery box and appear in some serious bling for once - I think the Brazilian aquamarine and diamond earrings would look great with this look, but the Bahrain pearl drops would be great as well, I'm not picky :)
Oh, it was such fun to do this, thanks for letting us play!
New commenter here! Charlotte, I have loved your blog for many years - and this is such a fun idea for a post. I have to say that it made me appreciate all of the thought that Kate must put into her clothing choices. Even with an unlimited budget, so much of what I saw was overly trendy and not suitable for a royal. Now I can see why Kate is so drawn to Jenny Packham for evening gowns - they are timeless, elegant and completely feminine. I would pick this gown for a formal event:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.jennypackham.com/pages/ss15-cruise#carousel_holder (I don't know how to select a specific dress to link, but it's the one with the white beaded top and the bright blue bottom). I would pair this with her Jimmy Choo Vamp heels!
I also realized how much I love Really Wild Clothing. I think Kate would look gorgeous in these options:
http://www.reallywildclothing.co.uk/product/sumner-jacket-in-fawn-rose I've never seen Kate wear this color, but I think it would be absolutely beautiful. I'd wear this jacket, the matching skirt, and the liberty top for a day of engagements in the early fall - probably with her nude LK Bennett heels.
http://www.reallywildclothing.co.uk/product/osborne-pink-collarless-v-neck-jacket I love the tailored, Parisian look of this outfit. Just like the pictures show, you could dress the blazer up or down - perhaps Kate could even wear this with some slacks for a more casual day of engagements, too.
Thank you for your wonderful blog, Charlotte!
I couldn't resist chiming in, after all...Silvia

ReplyDeleteOkay, I went a little nutty with this! I put together a small collection of casual wear for Kate to replace her "uniform" of jeans and stripes. I selected items that are mix and match including tops, actual slacks, a gorgeous vest, casual dresses plus a couple of cardigans and a jacket. While I've never seen her in slacks and only rarely a cardigan, I tried to combine items that I could imaging Kate wearing while playing with George, meeting with the scouts, shopping, at a polo field or even sailing. For example, my favorite is the shirtdress with the vest, or the dress can be worn with a jacket or sweater and the vest could be worn with almost everything here. As far as the accessories, I'll leave that up to Kate!

Some of the colors didn't save correctly: The Three Dots cardigan is in vapor, the Zara trousers in camel, and the Tory Burch cardigan in Harvest Melange.
DeleteAnd let me apologize for not paying strict attention to the rules!
This could be a beautiful formal look for Kate, perhaps with the tulle toned down a bit so it doesn't look so bridal. I love the cream, but it could be dyed a different color as well, like she how she does with Jenny Packham gowns.

Ok, it's my time to share my outfit. I've tried to take into account Kate's style and protocol but also things like pantyhose (Which she almost always wear at day-events) and keeping it at an appropriate level of new and reused stuff. So this is not a "dream outfit" in the barbie-doll sense so much as it is what I would realisticly style her in.
ReplyDeleteMy outfit is planned to work in a full day of engagements since Kate usually "bunch together" her engagement. First a event with the Irish guards (not the Shamrock event) and then an inside event where she removes her coat and hat. Let's start with my choices!
A bespoke Katherine Hooker coat in navy. The clasp is changed to gold instead of silver and the sleeves are made full leangth:
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_HUgT4qfGI8U/TK0adoKAM7I/AAAAAAAAGlc/qkIgoDlY_D4/s1600/KatherineHooker2.png
Under the coat I would have her reuse her red Whistles dress that she wore in her early pregnancy with George:
http://www.katesclothes.com/dress/sophie-rae-burgundy-dress/
Around her waist over the dress I would accessorize with this Tory Burch navy belt:
http://www.neimanmarcus.com/Tory-Burch-Robinson-Reversible-Logo-Leather-Belt-Blue-Red/prod179260094/p.prod?ecid=NMALRHy3bqNL2jtQ&CS_003=5630585
On her coat I would put the (mandatory) shamrock brooch:
http://www.katesclothes.com/brooch/cartier-gold-shamrock-brooch/
I would also have her design a ring that can be worn at those events since she will have many occations to wear it. Here is my (rather crude) interpertation of how it could look:
https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/d5/f9/d3/d5f9d3a7c87cbc46d5e829b592db11f7.jpg
The other jewellry I would have her wear is her Tiffany earrings worn at the engagement:
http://www.katesclothes.com/earring/cabochon-by-the-yard-earrings/
And her Kristin M London acorn pendant that we've seen on her when she watched tennis with Pippa.
http://kristinm.co.uk/products-page/nature/acorn/gold-plated-acorn/
As her other accessories I would have her repeat her Anya Hindmarch navy clutch:
http://www.katesclothes.com/purse/marano-box-clutch/
And also her blue satin Prada pumps:
http://www.katesclothes.com/shoe/blue-suede-prada-pumps/
I would have her hair styled in this side ponytail/half updo:
http://www.sheplanet.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/Side-Ponytail-Hairstyles-Trend-for-2012-520x780.jpg
And have her wear a bespoke hat at the Irish Guards event. I imagine something like this Sarah Cant hat:
http://sarah-cant-couture-millinery.myshopify.com/collections/spring-summer-hats/products/classic-pillbox
But in Navy (I made a quick photoshop of how it could look). It's a straw base and a satin bow:
https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/12/83/ee/1283ee4b2e8f1857552c12b6079777ed.jpg
I imagine her wearing the hat, coat and brooch at the Irish Guard event but removing them to showcase the dress at the later engagement.
One thing I noticed when doing this is how much time it actually took to put together an outfit like this, factoring in the stuff I wrote above plus (imagined) weather, type of engagement etc. I think it actually took about 7 hours of active searching time to put together a "full outfit" like this. Quite a bit more than my own "choosing the outfit the night before" time! Just a thought that hit me. (That only counts choosing thime, not fittings and such).
I love Katherine Hooker and would like to see Kate wear her things more often. That grey coat she wore to the garter ceremony the first year was one of my favourites - and a great hat choice.
DeleteThe coat is stunning and pairing it with the blue dress is perfect!
DeleteRebecca! How creative! A ring made... Love the idea!!!!
DeleteI thought it would be sad if there is no more symbolic jewellry. Since brooches are not a big thing anymore they only get worn when they "have" to so I think a ring could be a good compliment. Maybe though when she gets a military position of her.:)
DeleteI had a thought on a spin off of this post. Maybe we could take a vote later on the top looks in the 4 categories? In a fun, non competive way of course. It would be very fun to see what everyone thinks :)
ReplyDeleteI think that would be wonderful. I've seen so many dresses I love here - I would love to know which one would be the winner - although they are all great.
DeleteI agree. And if spread out nicely it can give up to 5 posts :P Which can be good in this "draught". (Not that I don't think that Charlotte will be able to fill it with nice posts. She always does!)
DeleteI like that idea too!
DeleteThat is such a great idea! I'm not particularly great with fashion myself so I'm not taking part with my suggestions - but I have to say that some of the outfits on here are stunning! You ladies could make a career change if you were so inclined, such great taste and enthusiasm to boot.
DeleteGreat idea for a blog and very well executed :)
And congratulations Charlotte on your marriage, it's such a beautiful thing to find the one that you want to marry xxx
Louise, Bath UK
What a fantastic idea!
DeleteI love polls on kate's outfits. But this means a lot of work for charlotte who should be enjoying her summer at the moment - so maybe next week so that in the meantime, she can relax a bit and there will be some more looks?
This would be so much fun (just like designing these outfits) <3
There are so many beautiful looks here :)
Love the idea! Louisedraws- I completely agree with you! Everyone has such great "stylist" eyes! I'm just in complete AWE of everyone!
DeleteFor an evening dress I'd love to see her in something with a bit more edge like this Peter Pilotto, although still very ladylike: http://www.selfridges.com/GB/en/cat/peter-pilotto-atom-jacquard-gown_238-2001592-DR04PF15/?previewAttribute=Emerald
ReplyDeleteFor a day look I love this Vivienne Westwood wrap dress: http://www.matchesfashion.com/products/1011785?qxjkl=tsid:30065%7Ccgn:0RpXOIXA500&c3ch=LinkShare&c3nid=0RpXOIXA500&utm_source=RAN_UK&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=0RpXOIXA500

A great choice - I would love to see her in Westwood - and in Kate's favourite blue.
DeleteTHESE OUTFITS ARE AMAZING. :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful idea Charlotte and Julia. Since we can only do one look, I’m choosing gala for my pick.
ReplyDeleteThis dress by Elie Saab:

And, of course an updo to show of the necklace.
Another stunning dress! Elie Saab is amazing.
DeleteThis is fun!! We have so many talented people here!!
ReplyDeleteTRULY, :)
DeleteI'm looking to replace the "uniform" for a sporting event. And Tory Burch is going to help!
ReplyDeleteThis top, in navy, screams sailing to me. http://www.toryburch.co.uk/ribbed-cotton-polo/11153654.html?cgid=clothing-tops&dwvar_11153654_color=715&start=43

And maybe a new kind of shoe for Kate. http://www.toryburch.co.uk/iggy-lace-up-sneaker/31158209.html?cgid=shoes-sneakers&dwvar_31158209_color=282&start=1
Hair up in a messy bun on top of her head, and some diamond studs, along with her Cartier watch will complete the look.
Haven't seen the outfit yet but love the idea of a messy bun, diamond studs (yay), and the Cartier watch.
DeleteFor a daytime engagement ( or maybe a late afternoon/night event that doesn't require a gown ? )
ReplyDeleteI think this dress and blazer combo is classic but the accessories add a little spin ! I would love Kate to be a little more bold with her shoes and clutches, choosing more colorful one that could make her outfits look more youthful!

Thanks for this, it's such a good idea and I really like all the looks that were proposed ! This is so much fun and your readers are clearly very talented ! I hope it's okay that I proposed two outfits !
The Godman necklace is beyond superlatives.
ReplyDeleteThat would look SO beautiful on Kate.
Thank you very much for all the hard work Charlotte.
ReplyDeleteCharlotte,
ReplyDeleteGive your hubby a BIG hug from all of us for sharing you with this amazing blog. :)
That is terribly kind of you :)
DeleteI agree! I'll join in on that hug! Thank him for sharing you so kindly with us!
DeleteRoyal Fan, Bluhare, Moxie, Maggie, any sparks of inspiration yet?
ReplyDeleteI am thinking. My problem is I get something in my mind's eye and then I can't find it. I've got something in mind and if I can find something that looks like it, I'll post. This is one of those things where I get much too literal!
DeletePeople are really good, though. Love that turquoise bag with the beige gown.
Haha, i'm the same Bluhare. I looked for that navy belt with gold clasp that I knew I wanted for this outfit, for hours :P Good thing I could fix some of the stuff in photoshop to show off how a bespoke version could look :P
DeleteI had in mind vintage couture, and I spent a lovely hour poking around a page with pieces from the Savage Beauty Alexander McQueen exhibit at the V&A. He did some truly spectacular pieces -- a lot of which are unwearable by most people -- but the theatricality of them is breathtaking. Then I spent some time looking at some fabulous Vivienne Westwood gowns -- that woman can tailor a gown to within an inch of its life. I love the full ballgown someone did (the burgundy one) and Westwood gowns look a lot like that.
DeleteI was looking for something regal looking, and Alexander McQueen has several pieces but I think they're too avant garde for Kate.
I still don't have anything, but I just spent another fabulous half hour! Google "House of Worth dresses" if you like antique gowns.
DeleteI was looking for a daytime outfit as I see most people are having fun with the gowns and, being me, wanted to be a bit different. So I went looking and I'm not finding what I had in mind. But as I was looking through the Worth gowns I kept coming back to the one in the link below. It's over 100 years old so Kate can't get it, but it's magnificent I think. It's regal, and it's got sweep and drape but it's not overwhelming.
http://labelleotero.tumblr.com/post/95113880756/fripperiesandfobs-worth-evening-dress-late
That dress is divine bluhare. Shall I use it for your pick or are you still looking? :)
DeleteIf I did I'd have to accessorize it Charlotte! I am not a great accessorizer, and in this case I think the dress is so beautiful that accessories should be a minimum. A small minaudiere type bag, or mesh reticule, and simple slippers. Hair up with either fabulous earrings OR a fabulous necklace, but not both.
DeleteI could not believe it was made between 1900-1910. I'd wear it today if I could. And if Kate were to get hold of it, I'd tell her to wear it at her first state opening of parliament, unless she'd freeze to death. I think its that regal looking.
Well, since you asked, lol.... And I may or may not be following the "rules" of this post, but here goes! :)))
DeleteI would love to see Kate in cocktail dresses (the first is my favorite):

http://www.neimanmarcus.com/Monique-Lhuillier-Sequin-Embroidered-Sheer-Inset-Sheath-Dress/prod178950384/p.prod
I would like to see more suits for daytime engagements; I believe they are younger looking than coat dresses, and can be more sophisticated and professional than some dresses:

Wow, what a dress bluhare!! Really cool, and though it look dated it looks surprisingly modern.
DeleteAnd when you wrote slippers... I see the ones you use with a nightgown. And to add more hillariousness the picture my mind decided it should be was one of those fluffy, pink pairs :P
Haha, Rebecca. With bunny ears! No I was thinking of the old style evening shoes; they called them slippers then, but they have a low heel and are actually fairly unattractive by today's standard. Agree about the dress, too. Dated yet surprisingly not. :) It was the sweep that got me. I just think that's fab. I wish there was a photo of the back.
DeleteI'm still looking for the daytime outfit. I'm just not feeling it at all, and then I got distracted by all the Worth gowns.
Sister gets a pass from me with regards to jeans and shoes. Those two things are notorious for being uncomfortable when you can't find the right ones for you and your body.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see her in more button downs. They work well with ponytails and long soft curls, her favorite hair styles and she can vary with colors and prints. She might layer with a cardigan or a blazer, depending the event's casual nature.
I apologize that I'm adding from US, this is what google brings me as I am in the states. I will use primarily jcrew since she has worn their items in the past.
JCREW perfect shirt in a blue stripe (not far from her current comfort zone) https://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/shirtsandtops/classicshirts/PRD~44175/44175.jsp?Nbrd=J&Nloc=en_US&Nrpp=48&Npge=1&Ntrm=perfect+shirt&isSaleItem=false&color_name=BLACK&isFromSearch=true&isNewSearch=true&hash=row1

Linda,
ReplyDeleteI love both of those outfits. Thanks
Thanks so much! I can really see her wearing both of them. Isn't it fun to spend someone else's money? I sure wish that I had picked some jewelry as well. Rubies to go with the pantsuit and some beautiful lapis and diamond chandelier earrings to go with the dress.
DeleteI want Pippa to get married next spring, ask Kate to be her matron of honor, and allow her sister to practically steal the show as Pippa almost did in 2011. This dress might do the trick!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.jennypackham.com/pages/2016-bridal-campaign
I'm looking at the "Lilya" on the carousel, but I also quite like the "Portia" and the "Venetia" gowns too. I'm just no good at accessories; I'll let others who are capable take over those choices! But of course her hair must be either half up or all up.
Oh that would be a lovely idea!!Here's my pick for Kate, at Pippa's wedding for the church ceremony.

And on a side note.. a totally unrelated(not pippa related) choice for day wear would be
http://world.dvf.com/dvf-layla-chiffon-tunic-dress/D911903U15W_PRINT%2B.html#cgid=printed
This dress has a boho-chic feel and I don't recall Kate wearing something like this for shopping/day outings.
Charlotte, this was a fun n hard project-there was so much to choose from!!Thanks chica!xoxo
OMG I love doing this kind of thing! I'm so happy you came up with such a fun idea!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to style some pretend Gala looks because its been a really long time since we've seen Kate dressed up to the nines like that and I am in serious gown withdrawal...
1-Kate has great arms! I want to see her in something a bit edgier and I think the halter on this dress is different from most evening gowns we see her in but the lace and color aren't completely out of the norm for her. I see here wearing it with her hair up, her Links of London Bubble Stiletto earrings and a very simple black clutch and strappy sandals.
http://www.saksfifthavenue.com/main/ProductDetail.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374306422140&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524446839601&R=400873727392&P_name=J+Mendel&N=306422140&bmUID=kYk5RLd
2-We never get to see her in purple and with her lovely shade of golden brown hair I think it would looks smashing on her. The neckline is a bit much but that's an easy fix. I see this with her hair down, classic Kate blowout and gold accessories like her gold Double leaf earrings.
https://www.net-a-porter.com/ca/en/product/570785
I did my choices as a Pinterest board. Check them out here: https://www.pinterest.com/shoeshoppinggir/hrh-dream-looks/
ReplyDeleteThe numbers correspond to the list in Charlotte's post above.
Edythe,
ReplyDeleteThose gowns are so pretty. The middle one is my favorite of the three but might have to be lined for Kate.
Pretty much every single couture dress has to be lined these days. I'm so over the sheer trend.
DeleteWow - this is fun :) Ok, here goes (I hope), the Gala outfit:
ReplyDeletedress: Dolce & Gabbana - Ruched floral-print silk-chiffon gown shown at net-a-porter (https://www.net-a-porter.com/us/en/product/567101)
and some sparklies to go with it:
- for the hair made up in a bun or a half bun: a damsel fly (http://www.newfashioncorner.com/new-diamond-jewelry-collection-by-graff-2013/new-diamond-jewelry-collection-by-graff-2013-12/)
- for the ears: Beverly Hills Earrings (http://alanfriedmanjewelry.blogspot.com/2012/02/stunning-yellow-diamond-earrings-from.html)
- and for the neck: a Natural Yellow Diamond Necklace (https://www.1stdibs.com/jewelry/necklaces/more-necklaces/natural-yellow-diamond-necklace/id-j_102154/)
That's all I have for now (I know, I know. Where are the shoes? What about the clutch? Patience - I'll need some sleep and then I'll get to those ...)
For now, wonderful blog and great fun idea, Best to all,
Miol Mor :D
... aaand - finally I've found shoes and a clutch to go with last night's dress and jewels:
Delete- shoes: Jimmy Choo's Nude Lace Pointy Toe Pumps (http://us.jimmychoo.com/en/women/shoes/anouk/nude-lace-pointy-toe-pumps-ANOUKLAC120008.html?cgid=women-shoes&dwvar_ANOUKLAC120008_color=NUDE)
- clutch: Jimmy Choo's Nude Lace on Leather Mini Cross Body Bag (http://us.jimmychoo.com/en/women/bags/ruby/nude-lace-on-leather-mini-cross-body-bag-RUBYLXL120008.html?dwvar_RUBYLXL120008_color=NUDE#from=perfectpairing)
From the screen it's iffy to judge whether the colors match, but that's where -in case of doubt- the imagination just has to help out. :P
Thanks again for this fun and entertaining post/quest
Best to all,
Miol Mor
This is an incredibly enjoyable post. I've come to two conclusions while linking to the numerous suggestions.
ReplyDelete1. There are an amazing number of talented stylists reading this blog. Amateur or pro, it makes no difference.
2. Even though I understand the various reasons to resist the idea, Catherine would benefit from engaging a stylist.
Oh, and there's one more conclusion that just popped to mind.
3. There are very few pieces in the suggestions put forward that don't get a resounding YES when I see them. Some are utterly amazing.
Right! There is not a single suggestion that I don't find absolutely gorgeous.
DeleteI agree with everything you've said Philly!
DeleteYes! I'm so impressed! I really hope we end up seeing her in some of these :-)
DeleteI agree Catherine could do with a stylist. Her life would be easier. Some great ideas have been presented. Frankly if you have a life at all, styling oneself is tedious. You need someone for whom that is the job:):).
ReplyDeleteI agree Anon, although she seems to be similar to William. In the interview after George's birth he talked about driving them away himself aand said something along the lines of "If I can do it myself, I like to. It's simpler and I don't like fuss". We have to remember that this is the woman who did her own wedding makeup! And I kind of think it is refreshing. Imagine also the uroar if she paid for a stylist. People would comment stuff like "what does she need that for? she doesn't do anything!"
DeleteThis dress would be perfect for a daytime engagement while on tour somewhere - https://www.pinterest.com/pin/288371182366016503/ (I cannot find who the dress is by, a reverse image search got me nothing). I would pair this dress with Kate's Russell & Bromley Park Ave Court shoes and 5th Ave clutch. For her jewelry I would put her Links of London Hope Egg earrings and Asprey Button Pendant. And her engagement ring of course :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to see Kate use her shoes designed by Rebecca Hunt. To go with them I choose Alexander McQueen royal blue cropped pants (it could be even better in white), a beautiful white/blue striped blose, yellow zara clutch bag and Kate's favorite pearl earrings. The links are:

ReplyDeleteRegarding the Rebecca Hunt - shoe outfit. The outfit with the striped blouse and shoes and yellow bag will go better with white pants I think and the same outfit with the royal blue pants would perhaps do better with yellow shoes matching the bag. Mmm I would love to see Kate in both!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, Philly, and I am also impressed with just how appropriate the outfits I've seen so far are for Kate and for her position. They are both young and at the same time sophisticated, elegant, and classic. I am sure Kate's advisers will have a good look at all of these ideas. Such great talent we have here!
ReplyDeleteMy DREAM evening look For the Duchess would be this sleek and simple blue gown-- http://www.beulahlondon.com/shop/online-shop/view-all/porcelain
ReplyDeleteI would pair it with shoes from Jimmy Choo--http://www.jimmychoo.com/en/collections/womens-collections/24%3A7-icons/match/white-lace-almond-toe-pumps-MATCHLAC100.html?cgid=collection-247icons&dwvar_MATCHLAC100_color=WHITE#start=2

Those are my suggestions for a pair of outfit in trousers and a great gown in a very beautiful color and printed flowers.

I couldn't resist designing another look, a casual one, after the stir/discussion that her last choice caused.
ReplyDeleteA nice sporty dress would look good, maybe with a white bolero over it because it's sleeveless. White converse shoes would make the look more casual. I would sweep Kate's hair up in a ponytail and finish the outfit with her Cartier ballon bleu watch.

PS - I'm new to this. Sorry, I hope I'm not posting this twice.
I have found a lull in my chaos so here's what I would dress Kate in for a day engagement. Im going the Rebecca from Sweden route, so this is mire of a realistic ensemble than a dream one. Like many of you I would love to see her in trousers. I really like the cut and the line of the LK Bennett Elodie tapered pants with the detail of the back vent at the ankle so I'm choosing those with the matching Elodie single breasted jacket. http://www.lkbennett.com/Collections/Clothing/Elodie-Double-Breasted-Jacket/p/JKELODIEPinkPowder?source=136348&utm_medium=affiliate&network=affiliatewindow&affiliate_id=136348&awc=2246_1439132807_441aa38897fd1977df3d58f1b2d3829c
ReplyDeleteFor shoes I choose the LK Bennett's Florita Printed Slingback because we are always complaining about her plain court pumps and habe iften discussed how a floral shoe could amp up her monotone looks.
For her purse, I pick LK Bennett's Bella Suade Buckle Clutch which adds a punch of color and coordinates well with the slingbacks.
The LK Bennett website styles the Elodie separates with these accessories and I thought it was just the look I wanted for Kate and could not have done better myself.
To finish off the look, Kate would have her hair in a high pony and wear her Kiki pink morganite cushion cut earrings, and last but not least a bright pink lip for some color on her face.
Oops! The jacket is double breasted actually.
DeleteSo much fun! Thanks for this post!

I like all of the above. I think a lot of them are elegant and timeless pieces but most of all they are youthful but not over the top and that is why she needs a stylist to work with. I doubt if she would wear any of these things. She will continue to dress like an old lady.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this wonderful post and all the interesting ideas!
ReplyDeleteI am very happy with what Catherine chooses to wear so far. If she’d wear even more fair /ethical /organic /eco-friendly clothes than she currently does, I would appreciate. My suggestions reflect this.
For an Africa/ Ghana? related daytime engagement (in the UK/ Ghana?):
Sika X ASOS Ballet Dress, €165.90, Handmade in Africa , 100% Cotton
http://www.asos.com/Sika/Sika-X-ASOS-Ballet-Dress/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=5114972&WT.ac=rec_viewed&CTAref=Recently+Viewed
For a daytime engagement in the UK/ India?:
Fiona Flared Dress in Navy was £85.00, NOW £42.00
(the dark blue dress) with palm print in certified 100% organic cotton. Made by Creative Handicrafts, a social enterprise working to empower disadvantaged women of the slum communities of Mumbai, India.

For an Africa / Ghana? related evening engagement:
Sika X ASOS Strapless Full Prom Dress, €207.38, Handmade in Africa, 100% Cotton
(probably even more beautiful in full length and with corresponding footwear, accessories, hairstyle)
ABOUT SIKA X ASOS: exclusive prints and traditional fabrics, in tie dyes, batiks and wax prints that are carefully selected in local Ghanaian markets and handmade using natural methods.

In case, Catherine should ever choose to wear vintage in public, I would like a dress to be something like this:
1960’s Maroon day dress, £28.00, Bold pattern in a muted range of orangey – maroon colours.

My thoughts exactly, Rebecca, and one of the reasons I considered when making my point number 2 above. It also made me smile to read another poster who'd spent 7 hours putting her post together for one look (never mind an entire tour or fittings). So then the question is whether that's work. (Though I really hesitate to say that on such a happy thread. Maybe tucked in among the rest, it will be missed and won't raise a bunch of hackles.) Seems to me that it is work since professional stylists are needed for it. If she's doing it all or mostly herself, that has to be considered as part of Catherine's "job" and a very time consuming part at that.
ReplyDeleteI also think that advice Catherine has received from the Queen's designer/advisor (I forget the name) has not been age appropriate for Catherine. When I see the splendid looks & accessories chosen for her by readers of this post I hope that someone brings it to Catherine's attention. I hope she reads it and is inspired to go--or send someone--shopping. If I were her I couldn't wait to get myself into some of the fabulous looks created for her. It would be a shame if all this wonderful sartorial energy were to end here.
Some flaws in your logic Philly,
DeleteYou assume time = work. That person didn't "work" for 7 hours while looking at clothes, that person enjoyed themselves for 7 hours and picked one outfit to share on a blog.
Since you bring up the Queen - do you also consider it a part of the Queen's job to get herself dressed? Why is it "special" for Kate to have to dress herself - but not considered a part of any other person's "work" life to choose clothing, put on the clothes and leave the house? The reality is Kate DOES spend time picking out the outfit she wears and doing her hair and makeup. Her efforts/choices are just disappointing folks - to the point where they are enjoying themselves imagining her being different and making different choices. I hope they enjoy spending time on their own looks as well. I know most folks don't have the nanny, cook, housekeeper and gardener doing the chores so they are free to spend time on this part of their life.
I think the reason Kate doesn't officially employ a stylist is because there is no need for a stylist, if one is not going to be doing many public appearances - which is what we've discovered these past few years. Perhaps when William inherits the Duchy of Cornwall - she'll be more visible and they'll use funds to employ someone, perhaps not.
One thing I did learn from this exercise is that folks here really have an eye for clothing and fashion and it demonstrated how uninspiring Kate's presentation is; now that we've seen what she could be wearing, and what she chooses to wear. Picking out clothes for other women to wear is not my gift to the world - but there is some wonderful talent on this blog, not to forget the designers themselves.
I don't really have time to put together an outfit right now, but all of these suggestions are amazing!! My general wish for Kate is that she wears more pants for non-sporting occasions. I'd like for her to look a little more professional during her non-formal engagements. I think that'd be a great way to look chic and put-together but also send the message that it isn't about the clothes, but rather, the issues at hand. My second wish is that she gives up the skyscraper heels for those engagements and wears short, professional heels, or flats. I just don't see 5-inch heels as something most women wear to work. But really, all I'd like is for a little more variety. I'm not just talking about the sporting event repeats, but her style in general, - i.e. I wouldn't complain if she didn't buy/wear any more white coats for a while :P
ReplyDeleteLastly, thank you, Charlotte, for putting this together during your honeymoon. You are awesome!
Another gala ensemble. The first look I did would be more for a white tie/state dinner whilst this look would be more suited to a black tie movie premiere or awards show. This look is a !million miles away from the Burgundy Murad gown. The gown would obviously need some changes to make sure it needs modesty standards and also because it is from a bridal collection.
ReplyDeleteDesigner: Claire Pettibone and the design is Eloquence. The designer describes it as "Gold eyelash scalloped lace, platinum sheath with cap sleeves and sheer back." The craftsmanship of the lace is simply exquisite.

With this kind of hair style.

Shoes: two different shoe options each with a jewelry option.
To give it a punch of color these in real would be really fun and with these I would love to see the beautiful earrings and bracelet she wore in NYC to the St Andrews gala.

Shoe option #2: these gold heels would blend in beautifully with the gown if she wants to keep it low key along with the diamond earrings and bracelet she has worn a couple times before.

Or she could minimize the going even more, which she tends to do, and go with her pink morganite earrings.

Here's a look for a daytime visit to one of kate's charities:
ReplyDeleteThis look is a bit autumnal - perfect for Kate when she returns to her duties in September :)
The dress is so beautiful and very 'kate', and I love it when Kate wears red coats over black dresses. (But she should wear the coat open so that the dress is visible!) As she prefers to wear opaque black tights as soon as it gets colder, I would pair them with very pretty boots and complete the look with her goregous Natalie clutch by L.K. Benett.

I agree Philly,
ReplyDeleteAll these beautiful outfits would be such a shame to waste. Surely someone on her team reviews the Duchess Kate blogs. I think it would be fun for Kate to wear some outfits put together for her by her fans. How sweet would that be. :)
Pants - any pants but the over-done skinny jeans.
