The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the wedding of friends Tom Eaves and Libby Keir over the weekend. Several photos can be viewed in their entirety at the Express.
More from the Express story:
'The royal couple were flanked by seven metropolitan officers as they made their way to a waiting car. It was a weekend off from royal duties for Kate and William, who returned home after taking New York by storm during a three-day visit last week.'
The wedding took place at Chelsea Old Church - located on the same road where Kate previously lived at the former Middleton home in West London.

The dress code for the wedding was obviously black tie and Kate looked effortlessly stylish in her Diane von Furstenberg Zarita Gown. The Duchess debuted the stunning dress for the Royal Variety Performance last month.
The delicate gown, crafted from sheer lace features a v-back and is fitted with a slim band around the waist that flatters the silhouette. It is still available in limited sizes on the DVF website and in navy at Matches.

Many readers have asked when we'll see the Duchess next. It turns out it's much sooner than we expected. Tomorrow, the Duchess of Cambridge will attend a meeting of the newly established 23rd Poplar Beaver Scout Colony in Bow, London. Kate will meet volunteers, leaders and help with activities before awarding badges to the Beavers.

Kate has been volunteering publicly and privately with the scouts for some time now and it's nice to see the relationship continue.

What else has the Duchess been getting up to? Like most of us, Christmas preparations are more than likely demanding plenty of attention before the festivities get underway. Kate treated Prince George to a seasonal day out last Friday at London's Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park where the two enjoyed a spin on the traditional teacup amusement ride.

More from People's story:
'George was smiling and laughing as they went 'round and round together' an onlooker tells People. "He was really enjoying the ride with his mom. You could see it in his little face - he looked so happy."'
The annual fair is a firm favourite on the festive calendar for families in London. It features a skating rink, Santa's workshop, a number of fairground rides and a Christmas market. It's very conveniently located within close proximity of Kensington Palace.

It's great to hear they were able to enjoy a family outing privately and it sounds like they had a splendid time.
The Duchess was also spotted Christmas shopping at Peter Jones in Sloane Square yesterday.

Moving on to fashion updates concerning one of Kate's looks from New York.
The wonderful Anna from My Small Obsessions has identified Kate's gorgeous earrings as the Kenneth Jay Lane Silvertone Crystal Earrings. The striking earrings originally retailed for €262 before going on sale for €52 at The Outnet. It's interesting to see the Duchess selected another American designer for the tour, and what a superb choice they were.

Several readers got in touch with queries about Kate's Beulah London Amara Dress. I spoke with the lovely ladies at Beulah yesterday and they said a white version of the lace dress will be released in the summer, however, if anyone wishes to place a special order that can also be arranged. The black version of the dress can now be ordered with a 4-6 week delivery period.

We'll see you tomorrow! :)
Charlotte you are so fast and informative with new Kate news!
ReplyDeleteYay for a engagement so soon! I like the fact that it's a scout event because its a little more casual. I also like the fact she is making the rounds of her patronages before her winter break.
Charlotte, a while back you talked of having an App. Do you think your going to ever get one?
Hello Emily,
DeleteThank you so much for your interest! I'm considering it for next year. I want to be sure I can devote enough time first though as next year will be very busy :)
I would download it if you made it and I'm sure a lot of other readers would also! And I bet you have more control over things that blogspot doesn't allow.
DeleteI understand the timing could be hard, we know that you busy with school
Your wedding in the offing, Charlotte? We hope you cover it for us!. :) Happy Christmas!
DeleteIt is indeed among other things. Thank you so much and Happy Christmas :)
DeleteOh boy! This is such a sweet surprise. Thanks Charlotte for the update. I love the tartan wrap with the black lace dress!
ReplyDeleteI can just imagine Prince George's face as they spun in the teacups. He would love Disneyland! All the fun at Winter Wonderland Park and more times 10!
I am looking forward to the Duchess' next engagement, can't wait.
Great post, Charlotte. Thank you.
I lovr the wrap with the dress too. Kind of bohemian :-)
DeleteLove the scarf.....I don't see that color available. Dang the one thing I actually could have afforded.
ReplyDeleteLove, love the lace black dress.
Love the Scouts! Going Christmas Caroling with the Girl Scouts on Friday at the care home.
Love George's vest but, alas it's sold out too..
Charlotte, you know how I love coats there is a rose colored one on the flash sale that is beautiful. I can't open it now but saw it when u posted on FB. It's yummy!
Thank you my dear, your a sweetheart!
I'm glad Kate and George enjoyed a fun holiday outing. (I guess we'll see just how private it was as the weeks go by...)
ReplyDeleteAs for the recycled gown....very thoughtful, and typical, of Kate to keep the focus on the bride (as much as she can that is).
Love the variety in this post! Thanks for keeping us "busy" while we wait for tomorrow :-)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that Claret Tartan wrap from Christmas morning! I love it so much I'm tempted to buy it...
I was just looking at the Really Wild site some more, and noticed they are from Berkshire...so it's like Kate supporting "local" (where she's from). Also, looking at the clothing it looks a lot like the style of clothing she had modeled that one time, and would be seen wearing in pre-engagement days. That's my guess.
DeleteI agree! I remember that wrap with the white coat and Kate standing by the Queen last Christmas - it was a perfect Christmas outfit. I'd like to treat myself to one of those too - but I see they are out of the claret color... :(
DeleteAlso - really glad to hear they were able to get out and enjoy a public event without any pictures being taken.
Sounds like Kate is feeling well considering all the Kate sightings! This should be a very special Christmas with George. He will be a blast at this age!
ReplyDeleteI thought the Tatan wrap looked a little heavy for the lace dress, but very warm. It did add a nice flash of color.
I was so surprised to see another post today. I love surprises! Thank you for the post and I am looking forward to tomorrow's post.
Oh I forgot to mention how much I love the Christmas themed heading! Tell your fiance ,"Good job!" He should work for Google!
ReplyDeleteLove the plaid wrap from last Christmas--claret color is so pretty this time of year. What, I wonder, is "crimbo shopping?"
ReplyDeleteI was hoping someone else would ask what "crimbo" is!
DeleteIt's slang for Christmas shopping :)
DeleteCamilla
Haha, what a funny word. You learn something new every day! :)
DeleteI suppose 'cri' stands for Christmas, but what does 'mbo' mean?
DeleteThanks for the post, I hadn't seen the news about Kate and William's attendance at the wedding or news that she has an engagement with the Beavers in Bow tomorrow. I note that the Chelsea apartment is stated as being the 'former Middleton residence'. I did not know that the Middleton family no longer own the apartment (?)
ReplyDeleteGreat post with so many quick Kate updates. I always come here to find out what Kate has been up too!! :) You are awesome!!
ReplyDeleteHaving said that, it looks like I am the only one who doesn't like the tartan with this dress. It looks like she is carrying a blanket with a fancy dress. I just don't think they go at all, sorry:(.
I do find it interesting that she wears nylons with a long dress. Maybe for warmth? Just something I noticed. She also wore nylons under her jeans at the basketball game in NY. Maybe they are pregnancy compression tights...which I totally understand
I agree with you! I'm not a fan of this wrap with this dress. It looked strange to me.
DeleteNormally I love her style, but this combo didn't work for me
Nylons with formal attire are the ladylike choice. See photos of Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and, usually, Crown Princess Mary of Denmark. My view is that sandals and bare toes belong on the beach. :)
DeleteOh something I forgot to add, why does she always turn her ring around, as seen in the photos from the wedding? That big sapphire cannot be comfortable on her palm. I believe she does it on purpose. When she is shopping or doing daily activities, I understand she probably does it not to draw attention to who she is. But when she goes to a wedding with William, it is pretty obvious who she is. So I am curious whey she turns it? I don't think it twists on it's own-the setting is so large it would not naturally slide between her fingers. She would have to put it there. I am just curious to any thoughts (I know we will never know for sure)??
ReplyDeleteI think it is a habit/nervous tic that she sits and turns on it. Just to keep her hands busy. And sometimes it ends up upside down. But that's just my guess. I've never noticed it on her before though.
DeleteI noticed in two of the NYC events where she didn't have a clutch in almost all of the pictures it looks likes she is twiddling her fingers, wrapping them ect like she doesn't know what to do with her hands. I've come to the conclusion the clutch is a way for her to hold onto something and not play with her fingers so much. I have a large stone (not nearly as large as hers) but it takes up most of my finger on the last knuckle and it spins all the time. You can't win, in winter it's always spinning and it summer it sticks to my skin due to swelling. I think she chooses to keep it the size it is because she is use to it spinning and any tighter would be uncomfortable. All my own guess though...
DeleteI have seen that too, Jessica.. Also at some engagements she has been twiddling with her ring. One of my teachers did that all the time (even though he had a gold band). Many people do. Both just because but also sometimes because they feel safe/close to their spouse. I used to twiddle with my thumb on mine. Sometimes unconsciously do, even though I don't have a ring there anymore.... I highly doubt it's to hide her marital status :P
DeleteHey Rebecca, I wasn't saying it was to hide her marital status. I was saying it was to hide who she was. The ring makes it more obvious she is Kate, so I believe when she runs errands she hides it so she is less noticeable. But I was saying at this wedding she is with William so they are both to recognizable. When she is by herself, people may just think she looks like Kate, but doesn't have the ring so she must not be. That is my guess:)
DeleteIt very well could be that also. I know when I'm out shopping if a.) I get a weird feeling after someone has commented on my ring b.) I feel like I'm in a not safe environment (grocery parking lot at night) I will intentionally turn my ring so it is hidden. But I think I can count the number of times I've done that. My guess is like your, out shopping incognito ring but get turned on purpose if several people notice her. But when out and about it probably turns on its own or from nervous habit. A little of both!
DeleteNice to see her out and about love the tartan scarf.
ReplyDeleteDear Charlotte will you be updating the royal digest with info on Charlene and her twins?
Thanks! Happy Christmas
love the scraf and i always love how she recycle clothes the i think the duchess is freezing cold i love the she makes up for prince george oh my the way i do love the christmas theme charlotte
ReplyDeleteNice to see new photos. The tartan wrap looks like the one she wore over a cream coat for the early morning Communion service last Christmas---there was a photo of her greeting the Queen with a curtsey and a kiss.
ReplyDeleteGreat that she was able to take George out for a treat without too much fuss
Charlotte thank you for all the newsy posts. I got lucky tonight and had my grandmother to myself again for a bit. Usually there are lots of family but she shooed them out after a while so that she could catch up with your blog. She asked me to pass this on to you.
ReplyDelete‘It’s lovely to hear about the Duchess enjoying time with Prince George. The Queen was thrust into the role of monarch very unexpectedly when she was very young. She never had the opportunity or time to mother her children in the way we all take for granted. And of course it all unraveled in those years around the ‘annus horribilis’.
By all accounts the Queen is very close to Prince William and she may well want to give him the opportunity to have a family life with his children especially while he’s second in line to the throne. The very thing she never had. Like any grandparent she must also be overjoyed to see him so happy especially after all the drama of his young life.
Our generation worried a great deal about Prince William. After the very public war of words between his parents and then the death of his mother we wondered if he’d be capable of finding happiness or whether he’d be too damaged. So it’s a tremendous relief to see him revelling in his family. Prince George looks like a very happy and confident child.'
To Charlotte and everyone here ‘Merry Christmas’, ‘Buon Natale’, ‘Joyeux Noel’, ‘Feliz Navidad’, ‘Frohe Weihnachten’ and for Rebecca ‘God Jul’
I always cherish your grandmothers words! Such a wise woman!!
DeleteGod Jul!!! Thank you for finding the Swedish version. Made me smile :D
I would join with Boldog karácsonyt!:) in case sone understands;)
DeleteI so enjoy your grandmother's insights!
DeleteMerry Christmas to you both!! :)
Also, wish your grandmother a Merry Christmas from us. And tell her that I read her "posts" aloud to my mother and tell my family about that clever grandmothers insights we get on this blog. :)
DeleteAmen. Very wise and thoughtful words, blue wren. Thank you so much for sharing that with us.
DeleteMerry Christmas to you, and your grandmother. :))
She must have had tons of fun with George in Winter wonderland.:) as for the jewellery I thought it was worth a fortune.;)
ReplyDeleteAppreciate CuriouKat's opinion but I like the contrast of textures between the tartan and the lace. Not sure why Kate would turn her ring around -- maybe she is afraid of knocking it. Diana rarely wore it when not on official engagements but not sure if that was the size or the state of her marriage.
ReplyDeleteWonderful post Charlotte! I wish you all a Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteO by the way, did you know that Prince William unveiled Christmas truce memorial on December 12th? Here is the link:

Joyeux Noël!
Monica, France
I saw that. Lovely that the design was made of a kid :)
DeleteBe strong Duchess Kate!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like that beautiful scarf/shawl in "claret" will be back in stock in February 2015. I think I might save up and treat myself!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if this will post or not...
ReplyDeleteBut lately it seems to me Kate is living like a single mom. Why is it when she takes George out to the park, for a walk in his stroller, and now to this Winter Wonderland, William is never there? Why don't we get reports of them doing things together? It's always just Kate and George. Prolly cuz William is too busy working...
My first time posting but I wanted to address this. I'm also a stay at home mom, and my daughter and I do a LOT just the two of us (she's a few months older than Prince George). We save certain firsts for time with husband, but I can't sit at home all week waiting for the two days that he doesn't work. So sometimes he just has to hear the story and see the photos I take.
DeleteW&K have so much access to private property (their homes, other royal properties, the Middleton's home, etc), that it is impossible to judge William's involvement as a father by the few sightings that we have been privy to.
DeleteProbably William prefers staying with George at cosy and safe home (he doesn't feel comfortable in crowds) while Kate goes shopping.
DeleteSo glad that Kate and George had the opportunity to visit Winter Wonderland together; too bad William hadn't joined them. He seems to be missing out on a lot of *George firsts*--first beach vacation, first introduction to that farm park in Bucklebury, first Xmas amusement park. Hope it is not because he thinks these matters are best left to the little woman, an unfortunate precedent set by his own parents, and simply because he can't find the time.
ReplyDeleteIt must be a hard call for Kate, at times. Having herself been raised in freedom, she would naturally want the same for her own children; on the other hand, she has to consider the paparazzi, the cell-phone crowd, not to mention their PPOs and even Staff, some of whom may one day write a book, based on their observations. Still, given the choice between giving George a bit of freedom, albeit not without risk, and keeping him within palace walls and gardens, I would choose the first option. It just seems to me that the more George and his sibling/s are permitted to mix and mingle with all classes of people the more capable they will become as representatives for those people and hence for the monarchy itself. (And I think it is important to note that, on this latest adventure, no one tipped off the press, or if anyone did, the tip was apparently ignored. The difficulty lies with the paps and equally with the public, some of whom think nothing of invading anyones personal space.)
JC
You never know what they are able to do without being spotted. Also, as a stay at home mom, I have to defend them and say that you can't save every first for when daddy is available. We have to pick and choose, because we only have two days a week that my husband doesn't work. Something like the buckleberry farm isn't necessarily something I would wait for my husband to do if he was working a lot (I don't know williams schedule). I have 5 days a week with just my toddler and I and have to fill the time somehow :)
DeleteCharles did lots of things with his sons. He just didn't feel the need to turn them all into photo ops.
DeleteHi, Charlotte,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great post! What an unexpected treat.
When I saw Kate's outfit for the wedding, it reminded me of the ladies in the Scottish wedding in the movie, "Four Weddings and a Funeral"-same sort of formal/tartan vibe. SPOILER for the movie-That wedding wasn't a very happy occasion so I hope the Cambridges' friends have better luck.
I'm loving the idea of Gorgeous George on the teacup ride! I'm so glad Kate ventures out to do things like that with him. It's the very essence of parenting to create a sense of fun and togetherness with your child if you can. He is a lovely little boy!
Looking forward to the Scouts event.
Best of the Holiday Season to one and all!
Yes! I could see Kate's outfit in that movie setting. :)
DeleteThank you for the post. She looks great and seems to love helping. Good for her. Loved Prince Georges photos! I liked her outfit, the hoodie was a great tribute and suspect she has limited pants to wear at this point of her pregnancy :)
DeleteThe event could not have gone more smoothly, and from my perspective, less stressfully. I was able to relax, let my hair down, and totally enjoy the party, and felt totally pampered and cared for by their manager. The food at the Banquet Halls was excellent, and the floral were gorgeous and reasonably priced.
