It was certainly a star-studded event with Hollywood's finest including Dame Angela Lansbury, Ralph Fiennes, Joan Collins, Roger Moore, Jude Law, Uma Thurman, Sir David Attenborough, David Tennant, Dame Helen Mirren and Downton Abbey creator, Julian Fellowes on the guest list. Of course, it isn't the first time the royals have met many of the guests. Kate has joined naturalist Sir David at events for her patronage the Natural History Museum and she briefly met Mr. Cumberbatch at the War Horse première in 2011.

The Duchess looked regal in the red Alexander McQueen dress she wore to the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant in June 2012. It is also believed she wore it for The Queen's pre-Christmas luncheon in December.
The bespoke style incorporates several items from this Pre-Fall 2011 dress shown below. The wool crepe dress originally retailed for $2,000. The vivid red colour is a striking shade whilst the addition of long sleeves makes it an appropriate piece for a host of royal engagements. It's very much one of those items the Duchess can rely on time and time again. I thought it a stellar choice for the evening.

The £450 bespoke piece comes in an array of colours and can be personalised with initials. The interior can also be embossed with a hidden personal message. One could describe the clutch as a royal favourite; the late Princess Diana had one and affectionately called it her "cleavage bag" because she often used it to gracefully exit the car.

This evening's reception follows last night's BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) awards. Prince William was in attendance and presented one of tonight's reception guests, Dame Helen Mirren, with BAFTA Fellowship. The Prince said Dame Helen is a "remarkable actress" whom he should probably call "Granny". As you all know, Helen starred as Her Majesty in "The Queen", and her outstanding performance earned her a Best Actress Academy Award.

Until today that is. The folks at Merci Maman kindly let me know Kate wore their £89 Duchess Pendant. The piece was sent to Pippa Middleton, a customer of the brand and she was asked to give it to Kate as a gift to mark Prince George's birth. Pippa obviously loved it and decided to purchase it for her sister.

The cut and color of this McQueen dress is very flattering on Kate. And it's nice to see her wearing larger earrings. And the necklace is very sweet; perfect for her actually.
ReplyDeleteThis dress is one of her best in my opinion. And it's so much nicer than the look book photo shown above.
DeleteI wonder why the Queen looks so sour.
I had that impression too, bluhare.
DeleteSo nice to see those elusive earrings back! I love this dress on the Duchess. I think the cut is one of the most flattering on her frame. The peplum gives her slim hips just a little boost. And since we're all so critical of her hair, it looks great too! I still want her to give it a trim, but it was styled nicely tonight.
ReplyDeleteWow another great post. Kate looked beautiful again tonight. Love the fact that she like's to rewear her clothes. I know others would like her to wear new things but the fact is she does not like to waste money. And with the tour coming up in a few months. she will be spending alot of money on new clothes.
ReplyDeleteThanks again for this great blog and all your hard work.
For foreign tours the Foreign Office covers the cost of the clothes
DeleteDoes that still apply since they moved the method of payment for the royals?
DeleteI know it applied when the Government requested the visit, as in 2012 on the visits to Singapore and Malaysia ---requested by the government, whilst the Soloman Islands and Tuvalu were on behalf of the Queen.
The visit to Australia and New Zealand will also be on behalf of HM as she is Head of State.
I suspect payment for clothes will be the same as in the UK--namely the Prince of Wales--unless you know it is different.
I would like to see her hair up for once, but other than that I thought she looked great!
ReplyDeleteI agree her hair up would be stunning
DeleteFor the first time in forever I feel let down by the Duchess' appearance. Did Kate really wear that to meet a star studded crowd? i'm amazed her stylists did pick something ever a bit more hip which leads me to believe The Queen had the final say.
ReplyDeleteAlmost right...just how could you even tell what earrings she wore, with all the hair in the way. Dahlinks, I love you, but find a new stylist!
ReplyDeleteher hair is still bad...it looks like she maybe just brushed it without even styling it and was like im ready!
ReplyDeleteI miss her nice hair, seriously kate please try harder
and do more engagements
and wear that dress you wore with the tiara...heck wear it with the tiara!
Sarah
Haha, excellent comment! Kate at least could have had her hair half up so the earrings could stand out more. Definitely want to see that tiara again!
DeleteApparently, Camilla agrees. :)
Deletehttp://www.express.co.uk/news/royal/460243/Duchess-of-Cornwall-urges-Kate-Middleton-to-chop-off-her-bedraggled-hair
In all seriousness, what is going on with coverage of the royals lately? It really seems to be slanting negatively.
OMG bluhare, now I've read it all. Lol. Camilla giving advice on grooming! There simply isn't enough salt in the sea to cover that scenario.
DeleteCome on, royalfan. Camilla might be a lot of things, but her grooming hasn't ever been an issue. She might not meet everyone's standards of beauty but she's always put together. I think she's entitled to an opinion about Kate's hair; however, I was quite surprised to see it in The Express!
DeleteBluhare, I saw the Mirror story too. That follows a Daily Mail story that pleads with Kate to get some inches cut off her hair and calls it "lank." That story has now gone viral and appeared in, it seems, about every news outlet in the UK.
DeleteI'd guess the negative coverage is the culmination of a few things - Charles's move to control all the press for his family and "spin" things how he wants; William and Harry's snotty attitude and rude comments and their ongoing public loathing of and terrible, childish attitude toward the media - except when they want a pet cause covered - and the noticeable lack of public engagements and events from William and Kate and the reclusiveness of William and Kate for the last nine months.
As they say, something's gotta give and when you are a public figure and treat the media as William and Harry (and Charles) treat the media, you can't expect there not to be consequences.
They weren't going to stay the darlings of the media forever.
But it will be very interesting to see how the negative PR gets handled by the Palace. And it will be interesting to see how Kate reacts to the very public comments about her hair now.
I'm not a particular fan of Camilla, although I do think she is one of the harder-working members of the royal family AND dealing with Charles on a daily basis can't be a walk in the park, but she does have a point about Kate's hair looking less than professional. Even if she wanted to keep the hair long, getting a skillful stylist to cut a few layers into it just to lighten the look would be helpful.
LOL, maybe Kate follows a royal hairstyle tradition: The Queen is stuck in the 1950s, Princess Ann in the 60s, Camilla in the 70s and Kate in the 00s. Why not.
DeleteTo clarify, bluhare, my comment wasn't based on looks as in beauty or age. I am referring to Camilla pre-Campaign and now. Given a choice, she couldn't be bothered. Kate, on the other hand, looked like a class act even when she watched William play polo in her early twenties.
DeleteIt's true Camilla hasn't ever been what we'd all call a fashion plate, royalfan, no disputes there. As far as Camilla's looks, I think the biggest change is her hair color and teeth. She's had the smoker's teeth fixed up I think. But I always thought the campaign was more to do with her doing good works and trying to get the rust off her halo more than appearance. Am I wrong on that?
DeleteAlso, you guys, if the big critique of Kate's hair is that it gets in her face I don't see how a shorter layered cut would help with that. MIght even make it worse. Maybe Cressida can loan Kate some scrunchies if she and Harry ever get engaged!
PS Anna, I like your thought!!!
Delete*Warning: read with caution* But I think Camilla's style is better than Anne's (a very harsh look on her).
DeleteRegarding the campaign, bluhare, there were two parts to it...doing good works *and* giving her a softer look overall (physical appearance and wardrobe). I base this on pictures more than anything else because they certainly do tell a story if you look back. Charles paid for more than Colgate.
Oh my goodness Bluhare, I am ROLLING at the Cressida loaning Kate scrunchies comment! That's hilarious!
DeleteI love Kate's hair...love, but it just doesn't seem as well styled now with the new hairdresser. I thought it always looked fresh and youthful when James Pryce styled it. I miss seeing her shiny, bouncing curls. REALLY hoping she finds a new stylist for the upcoming tour.
royalfan, I am going to go to hell for saying this, I know I will, but I just saw a photo of Princess Anne and I couldn't figure out who her hair reminded me of. And then it came to me. Kim Jong Il of North Korea. Not the current Kim, but his dad.
Deletebluhare, this is a first.............I don't have a comeback for that one. LOL.
DeleteIn my defense, here's the link to the article where I saw Anne's photo. Her hair is so artificially dyed and looks like a helmet on her head. That's why I came up with the Kim Jong Il comparison.
DeleteOops. Here's the link!
Deletehttp://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/theroyalfamily/10644475/Duchess-of-Cambridge-looks-a-little-overdone-at-times-says-royal-hairdresser.html
OMG yes, bluhare....especially in that photo. :)
DeleteKate looks very smart. Silly me, I didn't recognise the dress until I read that it was the piece she had worn before (on the barge) halfway into your post: I didn't notice the distinctive 'flaps' on the garment which easily identify it. The red's a good, striking colour. The shoes go with it nicely.
ReplyDeleteSurprised that she wore the gifted piece from 'Merci Maman' as the royals are known not to accept freebies.
ReplyDeleteThats what I was wondering.
DeletePippa bought it for her. The company is releasing the info to drive sales. Pippa probably won't use them again now that they leaked it.
DeleteI read that news and my first thought was "tacky." And how embarrassing for Kate now! Pippa should have politely refused the gift and sent it back.
DeleteFrom what I've read, the Middletons don't refuse gifts or discounts. I don't think Kate did either (I read she got tons of free clothes from Issa and got the royal discount on an Audi) until she got engaged, and then she had to turn things down. Although I think she gets discounts on some of her clothing.
DeleteMerci Maman's website has a picture of Kate wearing the necklace. I wonder if it will be seen again (in public)?
DeleteI suspect Merci Maman assumed (hoped?) the necklace would be identified without them saying anything and thus bringing them lots of great publicity. When that didm't happen, they may have felt the need to identify it, and apparently the giver too.
DeleteThey might have left the giver a mystery as happened with that ruby necklace but Kate may have been afraid such an intimate gift would look like it came from William. Pippa has been known to accept freebies. I hope she wasn't paid for giving this to Kate.
One would assume Kate was told by her sister that Pippa had been asked to give it to her. She can't be happy this has become public, especially as most of us assumed it was a gift from William. (Probably the eternity ring was instead.) If I were Kate, I would have a word with Pippa about such gifts in the future. Royals get plenty of gifts but it is always a bit of a delicate issue when it's used for advertising. Look what happened to Kate's hairdresser, and by extension (no pun intended) to Kate's hair.
Another jewel tone dress? Interesting. This cut and fit is very flattering; however, to my taste, the look is a bit "flight attendant". Her hair looks healthy and vibrant but I would not be surprised if we saw a few inches come off before too long. Overall it looked nice, like it has in the previous wearings. Also, I'd like to add that the "baby boy pendant" is adorable. Good job with the i.d., Charlotte.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much for this fast and lovely post!
ReplyDeleteI like Kate's outfit but that's pretty much it. To me it could be more extravagant. Obviously still within the royal guidelines but a statement necklace or anything like that would have added so much more liveliness and an interesting touch to that undeniably lovely dress!
I loved Williams at the BAFTAs last night! Is there a video of his speech anywhere?
Have a lovely evening!
Thought she has looked luvly on these last 2 appearances. Very groomed and professional. With reference to her hair that other posters r commenting on, it interests me we r all asking for updos. Yet I find the updos of other royals very boring and matronly. For example princess Anne and even sophie wessex whose quiff at the front always looks very odd. At least Kate's is styled differently if not always to r liking! And it does seem to be in fashion at the moment for long hair. Maybe we forget she is only young. Bella Wiltshire
ReplyDeleteShe is 31 years old, not a high schooler. Medium length hair or an updo doesn't have to be boring, and as a matter of fact, very short hair is currently uptrending. As for Anne, well, love her, despite the eternal hairstyle. The Queen hasn't changed her hairstyle in decades, either, love her, despite the eternal hairstyle.
DeleteNo other members haven't changed their styles so why should kate? Plus if u look at slit of the older stars Courtney cox jennifer Anniston they r in their 40's with long hair.
DeleteHi, I'm from Israel and I have to admit that I hate your blog!!! Each time i want to learn for exams (and i have a lot of exams the next two weeks), I turn on the computer and decide to "only have a glimpse to see what's new on Kate's blog". But than I begin to read the whole post and other previous posts, and suddenly I realize it's midnight!!! Your blog prevent me of learning well!!!
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't become any easier as you get older. :)
DeleteThe first step is admitting you have a problem . . . . .
DeleteMeetings are Tuesday's at 7:00pm. Last one in brings the dessert. :)
If I ask "what problem?", does that disqualify me from dessert? LOL.
Deletebluhare, good one :)
DeleteSeriously? It doesn't become easier???? Oh man, what am I going to do? And i can't even go to that meeting, it's too far!!! Would you mind having the meeting in a little more close place, like Paris or London?
Delete(Hope my english isn't too bad...)
"What problem?" gets you thrown back into Detox, royalfan. You know what that means. No internet access and nothing but magazine articles about Camilla.
DeleteSo much fun reading these comments! You all make it a great place for people to come and engage :)
DeleteEnough said, bluhare. Enough said! :)
DeleteAnonymous, your English is great. Thank you for your great post. I will also selflessly volunteer to lead any meetings in either London or Paris as long as someone pays my airfare and the five star hotel I will require upon arrival.
DeleteI think Kate will have to pay for the airfare and the hotel for all of us, since it's her fault we're all obssessed as she's too beautiful and well dressed! I think I'm write her a letter about that when i finish with all my exams!! I'll let you know her answer as soon as she answers me.
DeleteBluhare, thank you for your compliment about my English, I was sure it was a disaster and you were all laughing about my English...
DeleteAgreed! It's distracted me from many a conf call - on one right now! :)
DeleteYawn. Our girl is getting a bit boring. Thanks for the quick post though, Charlotte!
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking the same thing. Haven't been impressed by her lately. Oh well, hopefully she 'll wow us in Australia!
DeleteAgree - my fingers are crossed for Australia!!
DeleteI loved her style on the Canadian tour. So promising. She lost her way a long time ago.
DeleteI absolutely agree. She looks very boring.
DeleteI loved those earrings the first time she wore them. They are beautiful and such a youthful and unique accessory. Too bad they were hidden behind her hair.
She's not lost her way. I think something is up, I don't think we'll ever know what it is, but I think she'll get past it and be back to herself soon. I'm still not sure it isn't pressure from having George/depression/Her Majesty being a bit crotchety.
DeleteShe used to be more creative with her choices of wardrobe.. even when she "recycled" outfits, she would pair them up with something different. At this stage, I would say there was nothing interesting since July (even the dress at George's Christening was overly boring and blah... way too tone on tone). Was she not a Buyer before marrying William? Pippa beats her any day... and honestly, many other Royals (anybody following those from Denmark or Spain?? well worth it, in particular when you need a break from studying for exams..
DeleteMaybe it is the "Palace Effect" on Catherine. They are washing her up to be "appropriate" -very much like they tried (and succeeded for a while) with Diana. I don't want to say that there aren't proper customs to be observed, but if you look at "old" Catherine (before marrying William and early years after), there was so much more interesting detail and subtlety. Think of her Erdem dresses on the Canadian tour. And I couldn't agree more with the comment on the dress she chose for George's christening. Terrible choice - completely lacking any imagination, she looked washed out and a "carrier of the baby" rather than her won person. Personally, I had hopes for her to be not just another boring (albeit pretty) royal. I guess that won't happen. Oh well. Still have Mary and Letitia - as you point out!
DeleteLoved the dress the first time Catherine wore it and it looked even better tonight and her hair was great too.
ReplyDeleteI began to think there would be no photos of the Queen and Catherine--there were loads of some of the guests very early on.
Thanks for finding out about the pendant, Charlotte.
.
Beatiful Kate! She is a gorgeous woman and she looks splendid. Her hair looka very nice, although I prefer it when she wears it slightly shorter, her 2012 style. Thanks again Charlotte for the super-fast update and the interesting information about the pendant. I will soon have 2 more nieces in the family, and I find it a superb idea! I love when we see the Duchess smiling and shining at her best. I am sure some more pictures will arise soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks and greetings to everyone from Madrid, Spain,
Kate appears to have a band aid on her left thumb, cooking injury?
ReplyDeleteLooks like she cut her left thumb or something. Poor girl! Overall a great look, though I always prefer when she wears something new!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Do u think any videos of this event to be relesed? There seems not to many pics relesed of this event.
ReplyDeleteAlso, IMO Kate looks uncomfy or something w the Queen. Something looks off w her. I dont know.
Only in the "coming in" photos, the expression where they're sitting down for the performances seems to say something different.
DeleteHello,
DeleteThank you for all your comments. I will add a video once one emerges. Unfortunately photos are always scarce when it comes to Palace receptions!
Thank You!
DeleteOh BTW I just finished the 1st 3 seasons on Downton Abby. I am slightly obessed now!
Emily and Charlotte,
DeleteI have the first 3 seasons onDVD. I'm waiting for my hubby and son to go on a boys' weekend so that I can indulge! I can't wait!
Shantel
Minnesota, USA
Shantel, I powered watched the 3rd season. watched it in a day. I should have spaced it out but all of a sudden it was 1 in the morning and I'm on the Christmas episode.
DeleteKate looks lovely. I love the pictures of her and the Queen together :)
ReplyDeleteSlightly late for Valentine's Day, but a beautiful red dress! Kate looked lovely. The Queen, by the way, wore a favorite jewel, Queen Victoria's sapphire and diamond brooch, which was a wedding gift from Prince Albert. Someday Kate will probably wear it.
ReplyDeleteI thought of Valentine's Day too, and I can't help wondering whether the original plan was for Kate to wear the red dress to open the art room and the blue LK Bennett dress for the reception, but then she found out that the Queen would be wearing blue and had to switch them around. Probably just my mind running away with me, but I think the blue dress would have been slightly smarter for the reception and the red dress would have been perfect for Valentine's Day.
DeleteHaving said that, I do like this dress (loved the hat she wore it with last time too) and it's good to see it again. I'm also a great cheerleader of Kate wearing bright colours, so this is another hit for me.
Fingers crossed for some announcements soon for March engagements.
It's one of my favourite dresses of hers so it's great to see it back.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info on the pedant Charlotte, I've already order mine for my non identical twin boys!
I can't make up my mind as to whether the red McQueen dress was dressy enough for this occasion. I recognized it immediately, but the first time we saw it was for a daytime engagement, albeit a very important one.
ReplyDeleteIf you consider the Queen's dress, I think this was appropriate. Kate could not have dressed up more, and wearing something new would not have been the best move.
DeleteBeautiful woman, statuesque figure and unlimited access to clothes and accessories. Why does she choose to look as boring as possible? She either does it on purpose or she is lost without a stylist. I don't see any sense of style as all. Red dress, black shoes and clutch, earrings - done.
DeleteI always liked the dress and she could have elevated the outfit by using different accessories, hairstyle and evening makeup. For me, Kate's style in recent months has become less then inspiring. There may be many reasons for it ..... but it leaves me a bit sad and disappointed. I miss her sophisticated style.
Does anyone remember when she first attended the Epsom Derby in 2011 not long after the wedding. She looked absolutely divine and there was something very special about the look. Different to what we have seen from any other Royal before. That's when I first fell in love with her style. But maybe it wasn't her style after all but someone else signature.
I think it was appropriate, as well. It doesn't look like a formal affair at all. If the men behind her were in tuxedos, I would agree.
DeleteI think this look is very pretty, although it's not my favorite.. I love this dress but wish we could see more of the details. I would have liked to see her hair half up or completely up, but her hair still looks beautiful. I imagine it's been changing a lot since she had George and she probably has her reasons for wanting it down.
The queen does look quite subdued in these photos. Hope she and Phillip are in good health!!
ReplyDeleteDo wish Kate had worn something new for this occasion. It would be nice if she would remember England and not save all the wonderful new clothes for the tour. As she showed us the other day, the dress doesn't have to be expensive to look exciting. I think a cocktail dress (like her grandmother-in-law is wearing) would be more suitable. Her hair does look much better.
The last month has been very difficult weather wise in England and the news has so much sadness in it, I think that's why there has been a lot of negative press. The royal holidays and no engagements for a long time didn't help at all. Hope we will see some new engagements soon and not all bunched together like they are a duty Kate is trying to get through.
William seemed in tremendous spirits last night at the Bafta's and I loved that he didn't just sit up in the royal box but interacted with what was going on. His remark about Helen Mirran was very funny. It shows glimpses of the new type of royals William and Kate might be once they get going. Only wish Kate could have been along.
It's time for a joint appearance to banish talk of Jecca (probably a tempest in a teapot but so inappropriate even if innocent) and put paid rumours of separate lives. It won't hurt George if his parents have an occcasional joint engagements.
I would hope that William and Catherine are solid enough in their marriage that socializing with a pre-University crush/girlfriend wouldn't affect them. I personally think that's so silly. If my husband socialized with his girlfriend from high school I would not be threatened. We are about their age. It's such a completely different time between then and now, married with children.
DeleteWHY WAS BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH A NO-SHOW??????
ReplyDeleteGreat post btw charlotte thanks :)
Totally feel the same! His name alone is the best. :)
DeleteHas anyone noticed she's wearing an eternity ring, next to her wedding ring?
ReplyDeleteI think she's wearing an eternity ring, next to her wedding and engagement rings
ReplyDeleteWe talked about that in the last thread. I don't know if we had concensus why, but the thinking is a present from William.
DeleteKate looks gorgeous,,although I thought she would wear something more formal...Love the earrings,,they go very well with the dress,Good job on identifying the necklace pendant! Thanks chica!!!Is there a video to this event?xoxo
ReplyDeleteI don't have too much to comment because there wasn't a lot of information on tonight. All I know is she was supporting the queen and it had to do with dramatic arts.
ReplyDeleteBut I liked her outfit as usual and she looks extremely happy to be there.
Please put more information on the event itself rather than her looks. I know looks are huge on this blog but its overpowering her work and passions and things. It makes me feel bad for kate that ppl will talk about her hair being too long but not really notice what she doing and why she doing it. But its my opinion...
People are always focusing on her physical appearance. There is more to that in Kate. Can you imagine her with short hair? My goodness! I simply can't. If she reads this blog she must have the impression to be submitted to some kind of moral harassment.
DeleteTo be called 'boring' just because she recycles and has long hair. She might be a duchess but she is also a human being. She already experienced bullying as a student. Is that not enough?
There should be many more focus on her work with the associations she chose and the joy she brings to the people and young children she visits.
Down with fashion! It is this constant talk about futile fashion that is boring.
I believe the occasion was to celebrate the Queen's sixty years as Patron of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art---which makes me wonder if Catherine is being lined up to take over the patronage in due course.
DeleteAnon 08:52 I totally agree with you.
DeleteCarrie from the Rockies There is not much to say. Kate was there to support the Queen. This was not about Kate but about the 60 yrs. the Queen has been involved with the Academy of Dramatic Arts.
DeleteAnd Charlotte does a wonderful job on her blog. She puts in alot of time to bring this information to us.
Carrie/Anonymous 08:52,
DeleteI said this ages ago and it's true today. I WISH there was more to talk about with Kate other than what she wears or how she styles her hair. I wish she would go do an engagement, make a speech, embrace a cause . . . something!
Now that she has George, although I don't know why it couldn't have been done sooner, she could work with early childhood education, nutrition, or even spearhead an anti bullying campaign. I wish she would do something like this. That's what got me all excited when she married William . . . finally someone who actually knows how us regular people live in a position that she now holds. The potential! Going to a charity or an event for an hour is not the same thing as being involved. It brings attention, yes, but it doesn't necessarily engage us with the charity or event she is promoting.
And I agree with Pauline (that's twice now, Pauline) that Charlotte does do a great job here and provides a lot more information than just what clothes Kate wore.
Pauline, I totally agree that charlotte does a fantastic job on this blog. I just believe (IMO) that the more information Charlotte gives me on the events, the more interested I am in the events. And I think others would experience the same. I don't follow the 'what kate wore' blog because I care less about what she wears. I follow Charlotte because she gives more info on the event itself. And that's what I like to read. All the comments I read are only focused in the fashion. I would like to read comments focused on other things and I think if Charlotte could add a little more, maybe more people would be interested and talk about other things as well. I'm not against her looks, I just think there's more to kate than her long hair and nude high heels.
DeleteJean, what a great thought! Hopefully Kate will take over as patron one day. With her background in performance, it seems like a perfect match. I love that Kate has such a deep interest in and love of the arts. Makes me happy!
DeleteBluehare, I also agree with you. I wish kate was more involved in her charities so there was more to talk about other than her looks. Its just, to me, I'm obviously from america as you are. So a lot of stuff is different in the uk than in america. So I can't keep up with englands news. And with the queens events. So I would love to read more on the event; like background, history, what they do, the reception schedule, just anything else charlotte could find to get people talking about more than just her outfit. Don't get me wrong, I love kates fashion and always get excited to see what she's wearing. But I would love to read comments on more than what we like and don't like about her outfit and be able to converse about other stuff.
DeleteWe do not know what Kate behind the scene with her charities. It is just is "oh show up and look pretty." There is research and other stuff that goes along with being patron of charity.
DeleteSince I do alot of research I did a little regarding what it is to be a patron, and there is alot of work tht goes into it. So before we start on Kate for not being more involved I suggest you do some research on what it takes. You would be very surprised.
Pauline, Kate has 11 patronages, approximately half of which she took on upon her marriage. She's added the balance over the last three years. The Countess of Wessex has 74. I chose Sophie to compare as she has children (albeit not as young as George, but she's got 2 vs. Kate's 1). I got the number of patronages directly from the British Monarchy's website. So if Kate is very busy with 11, Sophie must be absolutely overwhelmed with 74. Granted she has been a member of the royal family for longer than Kate, but your point is about her workload, and I would argue that Sophie's is demonstrably larger than Kate's. Kate is a senior royal, being married to an heir to the throne, so one could argue that Kate should have the higher profile, and bigger workload, not Sophie.
DeleteHere is the link: http://www.royal.gov.uk/CharitiesandPatronages/Search%20Charities%20and%20Patronages.aspx
Here's a link from the same site talking about how they become patrons.
http://www.royal.gov.uk/CharitiesandPatronages/Royal%20involvement%20with%20charities/Royal%20involvement%20with%20charities.aspx
Bluehare, I can understand your point of view. But do you think Sophie (maybe even HM) has the oportunity/time to pay/give attention to all of her patronages equally? I was thinking, maybe the case here is more quality than quantity. I'm not sure where I read it, maybe in Diana's biography, but Diana kept only a few patronages after she was able to fly solo, and the reason was quantity vs. quality.
Deletebluhare, I'm not arguing the number of charities that Sophie is involved with, but we do have to consider her "time in" factor.
DeleteAlso, where Kate is concerned, we don't know how much of her life is being orchestrated by Charles.........or.........how much say William has had in not wanting his wife to be thrown in the deep end the way his mother was. Just something to consider............
Have to confess I'm more shattered that Benedict Cumberbatch was a no-show more than I'm excited about the royal presence at this event.
ReplyDeleteSo, again we see a longer hemline, a more subdued and professional look and the statement jewelry. I'm guessing those "rumors" of the queen's edicts for Kate to take the hemlines down, add some bling and present herself as a more adult, senior royal aren't too far from the truth. I can see the hand of a senior royal advisor at work in these most recent looks, namely Angela Kelly, the queen's dresser.
Love this dress and I've loved those earrings since I first saw them on her a few years back.
But I really wish she would just do something with the hair, even the look she wore in April 2012 at the Imperial War Museum reception, the last time she wore these earrings, would have been nice, a demi chignon.
The only part I would have subtracted is the clutch purse. It seemed rather useless. I would imagine that Rebecca Deacon, who attended the event as well, has everything Kate could possibly need in her tote bag. The clutch purse just looked - extra.
I think I spy HM's trusty black handbag. It's a Royal thing. I like to think The Queen has a Walther PPK gun or something in hers but it's really more prosaic stuff like a hanky and lipstick. Kate looks very nice and I thought her choice was entirely appropriate for an early evening reception.
DeleteI think HM has her trusty black handbag in hand, so if the clutch is useful or not, it seems to be part of the accepted costume. Very much like Kate in red and it would be very bad form for her to out-shine The Queen, so a re-cycled dress was just right. Dame Helen Mirren looks wonderful, how funny that William joked he should call her "Granny". I never believe the Daily Mail but would not be astonished to hear the airborne skirts and schoolgirl hemlines are not to HM's taste and are being discreetly discouraged, at last. She's not a wealthy party girl or Hollywood star, she's the future Queen Consort. She can look elegant and conservative without looking fuddy-duddy. And this was one of those occasions. Perfect.
DeleteIt is funny people get after Kate when she does not have a handbag because of the way she holds her hands. Now you are getting after her because "she has a hnagbag". This poor girl can't win.
DeleteI had a thought regarding DoC hair. I know when my son was an infant I would wear my hair in a ponytail constantly. Anytime I'd go out I'd want to to be down and let it fall (long). Maybe that's why she insists on keeping it down. Makes her feel pretty & not a security blanket.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone notice the band-aid on her thumb in some pictures (none featured here)?
ReplyDeleteEven the Duchess can cut herself or get a hang nail.
DeleteJust wait until George is a bit older and we see her in Popeye or Sesame Street plasters!
Deleteon the plus side: the dress color and style are great, and her hair looks really good.
ReplyDeleteon the minus side: the dress looks too "day" for an evening reception - she has so many other dresses which would have worked better for this event imo. or, if she just really wanted to wear this dress again (and goodness knows, there have been times i've decided what i'm going to wear out regardless of the event i'm attending ! :) ), dress it up with a necklace and evening-y shoes and purse.
I adore this dress always have! The duchess looks wonderful and so does HM
ReplyDeleteInteresting that Prince Michael was the male royal present. Maybe this engagement has something to do with one of his patronages. I suppose it might have looked too starstruck for William to appear two nights in a row where there are cinema stars and perhaps Phillip doesn't care for such things. It must have been a wonderful and entertaining evening.
ReplyDeleteFor those who want Kate to wear her hair up, look at Uma Thurman. She would look much better and younger with her hair down. Botth she and Kate could use a new hair stylist. Maybe they could make a girls' afternoon of it.
Poor Prince Michael. If not for a couple of photos, no one would have known he was there.
DeleteWell, I would have been very happy to sit to his right. ;)
DeleteCharlotte could not print my reponse to that one, royalfan.
Delete:)
DeleteI love this dress, and I thought Kate looked very classy. And I love the Queen's dress--is there any information about what she is wearing? Love your work, Charlotte!
ReplyDeleteOk, I hate to be a downer, but a couple of things are bugging me, but this is just personal preference:
ReplyDelete1. Her hair -- I think it's the long bangs that make it look sloppy. She needs to wear her hair up more. Somebody mentioned post-pregnancy hair loss/baby hairs growing in, but I don't think that applies to DoC because you can see in the ponytail picture, her hairline is fine.
2. The Prada pumps -- I just don't like the shape of the Prada shoe (personal preference). She's got a pink champagne pair too and they do nothing for me either. I would have liked to see the JC Cosmics instead.
As for the dress, I liked it before and I liked it now. I don't think it's too casual -- the Queen isn't wearing anything too fancy either and she shouldn't dress fancier than HM, so she had to walk a fine line. However, having said that, I think wearing her hair half up would have dressed up the overall look and maybe satisfied those who think the dress not appropriate for an evening event. Just my two cents.
The reception was from 6pm to 8pm---it was obvious that both the Queen and Catherine would be wearing day clothes.
DeleteAs far as I can remember, the only reception requiring evening gowns and tiaras is the one for the Diplomats.
Those aren't bangs, if you look at the coming in pics -that's hair falling in her face.
DeleteI like the dress, but I don't think it si appropriate for the event.. if she really wanted to recycle, she colud wear the black McQueen.. Or at least put on some sparkling jewellery...
ReplyDeleteHello, I thought I'd chime in on this topic as it's generated some debate.
DeleteThe dress code for the reception was lounge suit meaning cocktail dress / smart knee-length dresses for the ladies. There is no way Kate nor any other guest would turn up to such an event wearing a gown and jewels. We will only see that look for black-tie events and white-tie events (which call for a tiara).
The Palace receptions often call for this type of dress code, so in that sense Kate adhered perfectly to the aforementioned dress code. You'll note Her Majesty was wearing a smart blue dress and guests including Dame Helen Mirren and Uma Thurman were in knee-length dresses similarly to Kate.
I hope this is somewhat helpful, I shall include dress code info in future posts :)
She also had on nude colored with pantyhose as well as Uma Therman. Correct me of I'm wrong but aren't some kinda pantyhose/stockings required when attending engagements at Buckingham Palace?
DeleteThe queen is in a day dress and if Kate was fancier than that shed look gauche. I do wish people would lay offf her hair. Its her hair and nobody else's business. Some of these comments are way too personal and sound like mean high school girls.
DeleteSuch a good point!
DeleteWe all need to remember that the royals have protocols for everything and I am sure Kate is advised of the dress code, etc well in advance and works with people to ensure what she is wearing is appropriate for the occasion. Even though she doesn't have an official stylist, I am sure there are people who advise her accordingly.
This is great information :-)
DeleteI'm sure there is protocol to consider and I also believe that royal ladies do a "color check" in situations like this to make sure they don't clash.
DeleteAnd I don't see anything boring about wearing a red dress as you enter a reception next to the Queen. :)
Agree that a red dress is not exactly boring! I read somewhere today that the Queen might have looked a bit dodgy as Kate was walking in a bit ahead of her. I don't think that's Done.
DeleteBlair, you're right. Stockings are always required when meeting the Queen. I remember Tom Hanks' wife writing a piece for Vogue when she met HM and she was panicking as she had no hose!
DeleteCharlotte, I think adding dress code info would be great! You really are amazing with the amount of information you give us. Most grateful that it's honest and reliable journalism. Thank you! :)
Deletethe duchess Cambridge looks good with queen i love them to have more official engagement together love that she recycle her dress for second time
ReplyDeleteIt really looks like Kate doesn't have anything in that clutch.
ReplyDeleteI surely don´t assume that this is the effect intended by the DoC - but I personally recognized the dress immediately and was so disappointed that I quickly scrolled down this page and after reading the informational bit (well researched, Charlotte, so thanks so much for this!!) quickly changed to all of your comments - which seemed oh so much more interesting than seeing another "recycled" dress..... So, interest no longer on the Duchess´s appearance, but more on "more interesting" things... Wasn´t that what some people wanted? I´ve said it before, I respect her for not wanting to spend so much money on clothes (if that´s the intention), but one could achieve much more by buying new dresses for official events and putting the "old" ones up for auction, which would indeed make millions for all the charities she supports. So you could "hit two flies with one slap" as we say in Germany. You could prevent the "oh, BORING - effect" and at the same time do a lot of good.... Sounds like a good solution to me, but then, I´m no Duchess....;-)))) I loved the blue dress she wore on Valentine´s Day - it was really nice to see her wearing something new for a change, plus, she looked really happy and radiant on that day, as if she was having a really good time...
ReplyDeleteI liked her hairstyle very much the first time she wore that red McQueen dress. It would have been quite the perfect finishing touch on her style when she wore that ink-blue Jenny Packham dress, too. She used the same style on her wedding day and it looked "groomed" withouth being too harsh. Not to mention it certainly gives any lovely earrings (and Kate has a lot of those!) room to shine and sparkle....
Thanks for all your comments, my friends... It´s always so interesting to read them. As for "unwanted side-effects" regarding this blog..... well, I´m a trained therapist and I do counselling on-line, so if you want to found a "Charlotte´s blog addicts anonymous group" I´ll be glad to help.... I promise I´ll "stand up" first and admit "I´m Eve and I´m an HRHDuchesskate-blog addict...." ;-))))) Should make it easer for all of us, right? ;-))))) Lots of love, Eve from Germany
Oh Eve...you made me smile! :)

Eve, I am so glad I'm not alone. Not even therapists are safe!!! ; )
DeleteI am an expat german living in New Zealand and there are days when I think: Fudge! I seriously need help. Spending so much time (yes Shantel, in the office) on this blog while work is piling up left, right and centre. Charlotte, what have you done???! Never mind! We love your work. :))))
I am addicted too. I am here on this blog more then I want to say...lol Grwat blog Charlotte.
DeleteLOL, Eve.
DeleteHey, Anonymous upthread!! No need for Paris or London . . . Eve's just volunteered!
There are reports that Catherine was Godmother to a University friend's baby on Sunday. She attended a Church in Essex with Prince William and baby George---considerably surprising the usual congregation.
ReplyDeleteSurprising that no photos from that have surfaced.
Just a couple of comments:
ReplyDelete1. Maybe with all the "rules" on how to dress - the only thing the Duchess has control over is her hair. And now apparently Camilla would like to control that as well.
2. I find it odd that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are patrons of these art organizations, but you never see them actually going to theaters, concert halls, museums, etc. to participate in the culture.
3. Her sartorial choices are boring. I can't imagine running out to get the middle aged blue secretary dress she wore yesterday and if I had the money to spend on Alexander McQueen - it wouldn't be this.
Charlotte, here are some more photos of this event:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.newmyroyals.com/
A beautiful and smiling duchess of Cambridge! Lovely!
Monica, France
I liked this dress for the first time. For this second though for me it was boring. Something that you have always seen as somebody perfectly stated before: clutch, black shoes, dress. No sparkle tonight. It is a miss for me. I do not waste time on her hair. Blue 27
ReplyDeletei love Kate's teeth. What do you think.......does she have crowns?
ReplyDeleteVeneers. And I think they've been redone since her engagement days. I swear they used to look a bit less even.
DeleteHi, Anonymous!
DeleteI don't think so. If you look at Kate's pictures before she got married to William you'll see her teeth are the same. They seem much brighter to me now, though.
I think the reason some of us were certain about the red dress is it looks like a day dress, both the way Kate wore it previously and the way it was marketed. One could call it smart but it doesn't really look like a cocktail dress.
ReplyDeleteTo go with the queen's very elegant blue, with its quiet glitter, I would have chosen the grey silk Williamson Kate wore to the Tusk Gala a year or so ago. Perfect for the occasion and not associated with a hat as the Macqueen is.
I've always doubted though that the royal ladies really coordinate their clothes like mothers-in-laws at weddings are supposed to do, so Kate probably didn't know what the queen was going to choose.
What a lovely evening! I always love to see the Queen and Kate doing joint engagements. Makes for a happier scene than the Diana days. It seems the Queen and Kate have a nice friendship which is always refreshing!
ReplyDeleteI loved Kate's dress when she wore it sailing down the Thames at the River Pageant and I love it tonight. I thought she looked beautiful and her smile ALWAYS brightens a room! I am not familiar with dress code at the palace, but it seemed appropriate with what the Queen was wearing. My only wish is to see more jewelry to dress it up a bit. I definitely didn't expect to see Kate dripping in diamonds, but a little something to dress it up.
Since everyone is commenting on Kate's hair.... I posted above to someone's comment, but will post here too. I have always LOVED Kate's hair. It's part of "her and her look" if that makes sense. It just seems like the cut and style has not looked as good as it did with James Pryce. I know he's not coming back, but she always looked so youthful and fresh with the shiny, bouncing curls. Wishing we could see more of her previous hair styles. I think the stylist she has now just is not cutting it...no pun intended. REALLY, REALLY hoping there's a new stylist for the Australia/New Zealand tour.
I'm hoping for some more engagements to start popping up. George will be 7 months on Saturday, so maybe a joint engagement or two before the tour!?!?!? Here's to wishing!
For people who aren't fans of Kate's current hair, did you see the article in last week's Daily Mail? The one where they had the lookalike person (who really does look like her!!) pose in some hairstyle solutions? I was wondering what people thought about those.
ReplyDeleteHey, Bluehare!
DeleteI thought that article was absolutely ridiculous. Those hairstyles were awful.
What did you think?
Hugs :)
Hi Ana, I wasn't a giant fan either to be honest. I think the ponytail was probably my favourite. If Kate did ponytails, especially at the nape of the neck, imagine the great clips she could use. I'm seeing a nice standard tortoiseshell one, and then some great metal filigree or gemstone ones . . . it would be fun.
DeleteI'm not a fan of her current styles. I LOVE her long hair...it's beautiful. Not a fan of her stylist, but my opinion doesn't count. :) I'll have to find the article and read it.
DeleteThe Queen's dress had a bit of glitter, but it was certainly not formal. The blue of her dress and the red of Kate's made a rather patriotic combination, and I wonder if that was the idea. I think including info about dress codes is an excellent idea.
ReplyDeleteI thought the dress very pretty and appropriate. I liked that she wore a jewel tone in contrast to the Queen's jewel tone. They looked great together! Although Kate's hair looked sleeker and shinier, I still think it needs to be cut four or five inches. It looks unwieldy--and even up, the heavy weight of the chignon or ponytail looks uncomfortable and unnatural to me.
ReplyDeleteJust picked up on a nice piece of news.. I went on line to look at photos of Kate at last nights event and in Daily Mirror online there was an exclusive article about Kate William and George attending a christening service at a small village called Mayland nr.Chelmsford Essex on Sunday morning Kate being one of the four Godparensts. the vicar gave quite a lot of information apparently the baby boys parents are close university friends and he described the service held in a very small church.
ReplyDeleteI am sure that Kate will be a wonderful godmother and I hope attending such an event will remind William that all his love loyalty and priority should be to his wife and child.
There were some nice photos of Kate and I like that dress she seemed to be enjoying herself. The dress was totally appropriate for the function I still wish she would cut two or three inches off her hair
I saw the article on the Royal Central site. Do we really believe there are problems in that marriage? I find it so hard to believe after the way William grew up with his parents problems that he would want that for himself let along for his son. I hope there isn't trouble in paradise That would be very very sad.
DeleteDoes anyone have a link to the photos of Kate at the friends christening?
DeleteThere is no photos. It was a very private event.
DeleteThank you Charlotte for the clarification. Kate looked appropriate
ReplyDeletefor the occasion. If she wore something new at every event she would be
heavily criticized for being a clothes horse and spending so much money.
You can't please everyone.
Exactly right. And look at the fuss over an "old" dress...now imagine the headlines if she had worn a new one. I wasn't surprised to see her recycle since she was attending with the Queen. Safe and familiar was the way to go.
DeleteAlso of note: 1. This dress was worn on Canadian tour (in representation of Queen & country). 2. This dress was worn at an event with the Queen in honor of her Jubilee. 3. This dress was most likely worn to Christmas with the Queen. It could be assumed that the Queen likes this look; therefore, it would be a wise choice to wear at a joint event with the Queen.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, you're wrong. This dress wasn't worn on the Canadian tour.
DeleteThe red outfit worn during the Canadian tour was a Catherine Walker dress coat
DeleteI don't think anyone has mentioned Kate's make-up. I thought it was flawless! The eyeliner was not nearly as heavy, just the right amount, not overdone at all. And Kate's skin is gorgeous and with that million dollar smile, she lights up any room!
ReplyDeleteThere were some extremely close up photos of Kate on www.mynewroyals.com (Thanks, Monica!) Not many people could look that gorgeous when the camera is right in your face... close enough to see the nose hairs in your nostrils. This is something that Kate will have to endure the rest of her life.
I have to agree on that. And Kate also happens to be very photogenic.
Deletecompletely agree- the camera loves her
DeleteDaisy714, isn't Kate's smile the best!!! She really is very beautiful and photogenic. :)
DeleteOverall... like her look. Why does it seem that every time she is with Queen, it looks like she is trying to be pleasant, but the Queen is not enjoying her company?
ReplyDeleteI totally disagree, I think the Queen really enjoys Kate- seriously, how often do we see HM with Camilla? Kate seems to be her favorite-along with Sophie. I hope I'm not wrong- it would be sad to me if the Queen disliked HRH
ReplyDeleteI don't think anyone should read too much into the queen's facial expressions. I remember how much she was criticized for not smiling more during the Diamond Jubilee celebrations. There were a number of photos of HM looking very glum when everyone else was smiling. It's just her nature and at her age, she's not going change now.
ReplyDeleteI love the dress---the Duchess wears it beautifully, and I like her version, with the somewhat longer skirt and the sleeves, far more than the shorter sleeveless version. I think the shorter version looks more choppy than graceful. Have never had the looks or funds to wear such beautiful things so I very much enjoy watching her!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. I'd kill for that dress and I don't even care for pleats. The customisations Kate had done improved it dramatically.
DeleteHello! Charlotte. To me just my opinion, I love the duchess hair why should she cut her hair cause . Some people think she should. If she cut it then all we will read is (I don't like her hair that way of she should have cut it this way or that way) I will never say what she do with her hair cause I'm pretty sure we wouldn't want anyone telling us what to do with our on hair. I know I love my hair and will not cut it cause someone think I shall. But Charlotte I love your blog. And I love reading your blog about the Duchess keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteWho among us has luxurious, thick, glossy hair? I thought so. Who made up the rules that at a certain age, one is to chop it off? What does professional mean - like she works where? She is lovely, and it's her hair, her own hair, that she wears. Maybe she loves it, and that is personal. I bet William tells her not to worry about what others think.
ReplyDeleteKate looked beautiful, professional, and elegant, all at the same time! Wish I could pull that off! And what an honor to be seated right next to the Queen, in the front row. To me, that says everything about how the Queen feels about her. I'm sure if HM did not approve of Kate, we would not see her in a joint engagement.
ReplyDeleteRed is certainly Kate's color! And green too - remember the green column gown that she wore to an awards banquet shortly after leaving the hospital from morning sickness? That's a gown I'd like to see again.
I agree with you...totally. :)
DeleteOh yes eelady, the forrest green Alexander McQueen. One of my all time favourites and I hope Kate is going to wear it again. If not, she can give it to me and I will take good care of it.
DeleteMy eyes hurt when I see her wearing that harsh electric blue. Softer shades suit her much better. And I agree with you, reds and greens are her colours.
Just a few comments -
ReplyDeleteFirst, Charlotte, you are amazing. Your posts are informative, interesting and fun. You provide hours of entertainment, and you do it with respect for your subject. Its just so rare in this day and age.
Second, this community is a blast to follow. I have started to know the personalities, and while always respectful, the sharp tongued commentary is sometimes just so spot on. (oh, side note, Camillla is allergic to work, and always has been. She may be a delight in private - who knows she could be an absolute riot to chat with - but work has never been her thing). Its like visiting a very spirited fun group of friends over coffee. Delightful.
Kate? She looked beautiful her last two outings. Nothing earth shattering or stylish, but put together and I thought she looked really good - content and sparkling. That said, I am worried about her with all of this criticism in the press. This can be a tough period, adjusting to life with a newborn and how that affects all other parts of your life. I worry that while William can just "jet off" to be with his rich friends and let off steam (and tell himself the press need not be his concern) she really can't seem to do that. Her friends may not want to be "photographed" and so stay away. Thank goodness she has her family - but she has never really been "accepted" by Williams' jet set. they might have kept their snarky comments to themselves in the wake of the wedding, but time marches on and they can be terribly catty. My sense (and I know I really do NOT know) is that she is a very sweet young lady and just wants to make William happy and be a really good mom. I worry that the more savvy jet set around her could be terribly cruel with the openings that some of the press attacks we are now seeing. Now that she is HRH, well she could feel more isolated than ever. (How do you "complain" when you are on the cover of the paper and get to wear beautiful jewels?) On top of that every time she goes out her door she is photographed and commented on. It must be positively unnerving. So, while I admit that I selfishly want to see more of her at events, I really, REALLY want to see her be able to dig into her patronages and start doing more solo work. Its just my feeling that if she gets praise for her work, and starts directing her energies on those kinds of accomplishments she could stay grounded despite what the mags and wags say. Her son of course is important, but she needs something outside that is all her own. It will help her weather the storms - serious, or trivial (our constant demands that she cut her hair!). Oh, and it will give Charlotte more to write about!
Thanks for listening - Follower in Vermont
Follower in Vermont, I agree with your remarks to Charlotte. I admire and appreciate all the time and effort she puts in. And I am grateful to her for allowing us to "chat" as much as we do. I don't know how she does it, but thank goodness that she does!
DeleteWell said about Camilla...both the good and the not so. Although I do think she has stepped up a lot since W&K's engagement. Not exactly a shock really; she has no choice if she wants to "pull it off"...IMO.
And I think your analysis of Kate's situation is both reasonable and quite plausible. Pardon the pun here, but her life is not exactly a walk in the park. I'm glad she has the support of a loving family and a husband who appears to want things to be different for his wife and son.
Hi, Charlotte!
ReplyDeleteDo you think the Duchess will present shamrocks this year? So far, I haven't heard anything about it and was wondering if she will do it this year.
Thank you for your attention!
Hello Ana,
DeletePersonally I do think so. We haven't heard any definitive dates regarding the tour not the itinerary yet but I believe it will be throughout the full month of April which means Kate's calendar is free on March 17th. I would be surprised if that engagement wasn't scheduled.
I must say I'm getting some Kate withdrawls!! Lets hope they post new dates soon!!!
DeleteI am aghast and disappointed that commenters on this site repeat totally unfounded rumours and that they should pass moderation here. Very disappointed indeed. From now on I will read Charlotte's reports but won't bother with the comments section. Honestly, does no one understand how one silly remark gets undue attention? The internet has a lot to answer for sometimes. I really thought this site was better than that.
ReplyDeleteHello! Charlotte I guess my comment are to nice when it come to the Duchess so it dose'nt get printed. But I'm sorry if I don't see Anything wrong with a beauitiful young lady.
ReplyDeleteI saw one of your comments above, Rich/privaledged, and it was very nice. Gill, I sometimes agree with you. I looked at Charlotte's excellent posts and pictures for quite awhile before I started to read the comments. I was also shocked, and continue to be at times. However, there are some kind posters here, who have good taste and give Kate credit for who she is and what she does. I have continued to read and now and then post because I think there is a balance to be achieved. Charlotte likes a lively debate, and therefore allows some sharp comments, but an occasional poster has disappeared since I have been reading. My feeling is that Kate is doing very well in a role she was not born to or trained all her life for, and that she deserves our respect and appreciation. Obviously, she has the Queen's.
ReplyDeleteJe suis désoléde de ne pas savoir écrire en anglais. J'adore votre blog Charlotte : vous laissez les gens libres et c'est très agréable de lire des opinions très variées. Bravo et merci !
