Over the weekend Hello! Magazine mentioned Kate had an engagement with the Queen on Thursday, but interestingly, it was never officially confirmed nor pre-announced by the Palace until this morning. It is only the Queen's second public engagement since she fell ill on March 1st with "the symptoms of gastroenteritis" which may have influenced the decision not to announce it.

When Kate heard the Queen and Prince Philip had planned to undertake the engagement she asked if she could be part of the visit and the Queen formally invited her. A senior royal aide said, "She just fancied it, she asked if she could come along". It is the third time Kate has joined the Queen on public engagements and I think the fact Kate asked to join HM shows a great deal of interest in royal events on the Duchess's part.

Kate laughed when she was presented with a Baby on Board badge and said, "I'll make sure I wear it at home." The Duchess also admitted she "misses travelling on the Tube."

More from the Express story:
'Dozens of cheering passengers with cameras watched from a neighbouring platform as the royal party toured the station. The three royals inspected a Victorian steam Tube train from 1892 - a Metropolitan Line No 353 Jubilee carriage, the oldest operational Underground carriage in Britain.
At the station today, the Queen named the S Stock train Queen Elizabeth II'.

Kate wore a dark teal coat by Danish designer By Malene Birger. Laure Laura over at Kate Middleton Style found a very similar piece from the 2010 collection. It is thought Kate's is most likely from the same collection and it's entirely possible she's had it in her wardrobe since then. It's a beautiful coat and the beading is really very striking. A number of you pointed out Princess Mary also owns the coat.

I do rather like Kate's jaunty Whiteley black hat, you may recall she previously wore it at at Harry Aubrey-Fletcher's wedding in 2011 with her black velvet Libélula Dulwich Coat.
Kate carried her black suede clutch and kept her hands warm in her Cornelia James Pure Wool Gloves With Side Bow.

What did you think of Kate's look today?
See you all Friday :)
What a lovely surprise to see Kate accompanying the Queen and Prince Philip today. Good to see her upping the number of engagements and lovely to see HM out and about again after her recent illness. Did anyone see 'Our Queen' on Sunday? What a great insight behind the scenes of HM's life. I am so, so proud to have her as our Queen. Annie, UK
ReplyDeleteLoved the "Our Queen" documentary. The best insight I've seen. Bravo!
DeleteYes, really enjoyed it, too. Saw it on YouTube.
DeleteWe are finally getting to see The Diamond Queen over her on PBS, although they're using it as a pledge drive so you get the begging for money every 15 minutes!
DeleteKate Looks so beautiful and pretty. The green coat is so lovely on her. She will be the perfect mother when the baby arrives. If the baby is a girl I hope she will have the same fashion style as her lovely mother. All Kate's accesories are perfect.
DeleteShe looks great and so happy. Am I wrong or is she wearing the same heels for the third engagement in a row?
ReplyDeleteGood to see the Queen back to do engagements.
I think she finds those shoes particularly comfortable during her pregnancy!
DeleteThat's what I also think. Even so her feet/legs don't look swollen they might be the most comfortable shoes right now. Just thinking about 4 inch heels makes my feet hurt so, lol.
DeleteJust saw them, it was great! Pity that couldn't get any closer. Got some pictures, they are a bit from afar, but wouldn't mind sharing, just not sure how to upload them... Any help please? Thx!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! Lucky you...very jealous - would love to see your photos too.
DeleteHi, Anonymous! You're so lucky! I would love to see the pictures you took!
DeleteI'm afraid I don't know how to upload anything! Sorry!
You are absolutely fantastic. Thank you. Shall look forward to following the next update. Donna
ReplyDeleteSo Kate took the initiative and approached the Palace to ask if she could accompany the Queen and the Duke. That tells me a lot. Workshy? I don't think so. Confident in her position in the royal family, confident about approaching the Queen - very much so. Interest in royal duties, and possibly eager to learn more at the side of royalty's ultimate professional, quite evident. Go Kate!
ReplyDeleteI think it was kind of someone from the younger royals who was available offer to go with QEII and DE...she was able to act as a buffer and pick up some of the conversations no doubt, esp since this was the first official outing for the Queen after her bout of illness.
DeleteSarah, I agree! I think confident is a great word to describe Kate. Who better to learn from than the Queen herself? :) As you said, go Kate!
Deletewow, what a nice surprise! great job Charlotte!
ReplyDeleteEven I don´t mind recycled outfits, it is always a bonus to see Kate in a brand new one. And the trimming on her coat is similar to the trimming on Queen´s coat!:) Her Majesty looks incredibly well and I love her outfit, very spring-y and very English.
Teal with black is not my top combination, though I know Kate favors it quite a lot.
Regarding shortenes of her coats - as this is 3rd in row, I guess she tries to compensate her now bulkier/non fitted upper part of outfit with showing more legs. As long as she wears opaque tights I think it is "passible", not cheap looking. And a plus for styling her hair Happy anniversary London tube!! :)
Like the coat color and its nice to see Kate learning from the Queen, HM is a mountain of knowledge I'm sure. However is it just me or possibly the sun...or does Kate's hair look a lot lighter? As if she's gotten more highlights but I can't imagine when as it didn't look it yesterday...
ReplyDeleteI also thought it looks lighter today...it could have been done over nigh - or it could be the deeper backgrounds and more contrast in today's steel blue/teal vs yesterdays black and white.
DeleteShe is looking so beautiful!!!!!!! The coat is lovely, and the hat fits with the attire perfectly.
ReplyDeleteLove the button, that was cute :o)Thanks Charlotte for this quick update and awesome pics!!!!
I love the duchess wore it simple and she misses travelling on the tube and i really love how she is she smile and pinning baby on the board
ReplyDeleteomg!!! you are so fast, you posted it immediately. I really love her coat but are the pictures or she has change her hair ink?? is she blonder? (really sorry about my awful english i am not from the UK)
ReplyDeleteI think from the waist up this is a perfect 10! Kate's hair and hat are marvelous. The color and detail of the coat make it formal and elegant. But the length of the coat brings the whole look down a few points IMO. I wish she would return to the knee length coat/dresses, it was a look that flattered her. She has nice legs, but with her dress that short she looks like she is trying to play dressup. In the past she has gotten the length just right and recently I feel she is missing the mark (with regards to length). She is in great shape, but as my mom always tells me, just because you got it doesn't mean you have to flaunt it.
ReplyDeleteI agree - again another one that is so short! This one is a beautiful coat but it already has fit issues with it riding up in front making the hem line fall longer in back then over the front due to the bump...that is only helped by buying maternity clothing - but it would not look as pulled up if it was knee lenght. It barely gets by due to the tights and black shoes - soon as she starts to wear flesh stockings uneven hem lines are really going to be more noticeable.
DeleteI completely agree! I haven't liked a single outfit she's warn since being pregnant. She hasn't warn any maternity clothes yet, so they all fit a little oddly. The tailoring isn't quite right. And I don't like it that she's been wearing shorter coats at all. I think that since she doesn't have a tiny waist to show off, she's showing her legs instead. It isn't working for her. I hope she gives it up soon!
DeleteI must say I totally disagree she looks wonderful. She has the kegs why not show them? I didn't wear one piece of maternity clothing during both of my pregnancies, just another myth to get women to spend more money. HRH Catherine, is glowing, akways quick with a smile and s looking remarkable smart.
DeleteI'm quite liking the shorter length coats, less frumpy but I agree the tailoring is really bad. Also I struggle to c a bump, if u didn't know she was pregnant I don't think u'd realise. I also agree with an earlier post her hair looks lighter today, even from yesterday's engagement. Bella. Canada
DeleteShe looks gorgeous! I love her coat! And the badge is so funny! love it!
ReplyDeleteCath
It looks like Kate's Episode Angel pumps are turning in to her winter version of the Sledge 2. What do you guys think?
ReplyDeleteLauren, USA
I think when you are a royal on a public engagement, it's important that you not fuss about your clothes...and shoes. If you have shoes that are extremely comfortable, you wear them.
DeleteAdditionally, don't forget that pregnant women's feet are almost always slightly swollen - from the mild edema of replacing fluids (blood and amniotic fluid) for the baby.
Kate looked fabulous today! I love the hat, the coat (although I think it is a bit on the short side..again), and her hair is perfect! It looks so much more natural and it looks wonderful with the hat. I'm hoping she switches up the shoes on Friday :)
ReplyDeleteCharlotte, thanks for all your updates on Kate's engagements and wardrobe. You do lot's of work and we appreciate that very much.
ReplyDeleteBy the way: I do like this look on Kate. Good colour and style!
Karen, Holland
Don't like the shortness of the coat, or the way it it pulled up in front by her expanding middle. Otherwise, I love the coat and hat. She needs to get some clothes that fit her new shape. Maybe she will not be wearing long coats now that spring is here. I think she was at the tube in case Her Majesty could not make it due to recurring gastritis. I took the Baker Line when my family was in London, from Tower Bridge to Baker Street, to eat at a famous cafe on Baker.
ReplyDeleteLovely as usual. Thanks so much for all your work putting these posts together!
ReplyDeleteThe coat is too short again, the proportion is all wrong.
ReplyDeleteOther than that she looked lovely.
I wonder how they let it be known that Kate initiated joining the visit. PR anybody?
Yesterday, I found the coat and dress very sweet but too short. When she sits, at that length, they must really ride up on her thighs. She does have gorgeous legs, but sometimes I think she chooses too short.
ReplyDeleteI love her today though. Very smart ;-)
I agree that the coat looks a tad short. The one from the last post did as well, and the one from the races... maybe she's just trying to not buy many more clothes while pregnant? She seems to just be recycling old pieces and letting buttons out so far. No true maternity wear.
ReplyDeleteBut I love the outfit if it weren't for the length. The hat especially!
Another great job done by you Ms. Charlotte. Man are you fast. I did not think we would see the Duchess until Friday. But what a surprise. Again she looked just beautiful. She is just glowing with her pregnancy. It sure agrees with her.
ReplyDeleteIt was nice to hear that she asked to join the Queen today. It now just prove's to these people who claim the Duchess is work shy. I also read that she has 3 more engagements next week. Do you know anything regarding these? It did not say what they were.
Love the button and that she is going to wear it at home. I bet William will get a laugh about it. I don't really think she has anything to worry about at home, I bet William treat's her as his queen. She has said he spoils her.
Again thanks for this great post.
Girls, did you see that photo? https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=496448693735818&set=a.422519361128752.89618.411417245572297&type=1&relevant_count=1&ref=nf#
ReplyDeleteMary, the Crown Princess of Denmark, wore exactly the same coat in 2006, when was pregnant too!
Angela, Brazil.
This string of appearences tells me the palace and Kate have taken heed of the "workshy" comments and have upped her schedule, which is great. Kate brings such radiance to her appearances. I'm hoping the fact Wiilliam was made an aide de camp may mean they are working towards a full royal role which would give a huge boast to the monarchy.
ReplyDeleteThis coat is stunning and the perfect colour for Kate but I agree with Sarah P. it's too short. The Duchess has fantastic legs but the length she traditionally wore her clothes suited her so well and would be particularly becomming now she's starting to show. Shorter skirts make a person look heavier. Styles are getting longer too. The hat is stunning, love these simple black hats. Kate has worn the Episode pumps to every public engagement since January. They must be comfortable.
I disagree that the palace and Kate have taken heed of any dubious and unsubstantiated workshy comments.
DeleteIt was announced almost 2 years ago that William and Kate would be part-time royals for the first 2 years. Royal engagements are now being stepped up as their 2nd wedding anniversary approaches next month.
As I pointed out before, there was no announcement from Buckingham Palace (therefore the Queen) regarding a two year grace period. Matter of fact, in their own engagement interview they said Kate was going to "hit the ground running".
DeleteAnd Anonymous? The Middletons' annual ski vacation is around the corner.
Kate looked perfectly brilliant today!!! I LOVED her look and really loved the coat she wore! The beading and deep blue are SO pretty. I think the entire ensemble from head to toe was gorgeous and looked very royal! I think this will be a favorite look for me!!! :) The Queen looks absolutely beautiful also. She looks so bright and happy! I hope this is a good sign she is feeling better and on the mend.
ReplyDeleteI think it's great that Kate asked to be a part of the engagement today. It shows great interest and initiative on her part. Also shows that she feels very comfortable with the family, especially the Queen, and with royal duties. I would think the Queen and Prince Phillip enjoyed having her along. It's a shame William was not there to join them. Is he back on RAF duty?
The Baby on Board pin is great! Such a good idea! I will say the many times I have been on the tube in London, everyone has been very polite and many times gentlemen have given up their seat. I guess always lugging a backpack around I have tourist written all over me...LOL!!! Kate really does look beautiful and is glowing! As many have said, pregnancy suits her well. Glad she is healthy and able to be out and about enjoying life!
Thanks for the lovely post Charlotte! It's been a busy week and you have done a fabulous job keeping us informed with the latest and greatest info!
I would love to see her in flats. When you are used to wearing high heels all the time, you can start to think you "look awful" in flats. (Speaking from experience) I cut out the high heels a few years ago and nothing beats the feeling of feeling confident in flats (or low heels). I think it is best to save the heels for punctuated special times when you want to look really lovely. High heels all the time can look like trying too hard, or even a bit ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteThis is all just interesting to me to observe from afar, because Kate is a girl like any other, and it is funny the things we do to look/feel our 'best' (or what we may think is our best). Like perhaps raising our hemlines and showing off our legs if we are feeling a bit awkward about our middle....!
Charlotte, I forgot to ask in my original post, but why would Kate travel in the car behind the Queen and Prince Phillip instead of the same car? Is it formality? I know on their trip to Fortnum & Mason they traveled in the same car and I know they took the train to Leicester together last year, but don't know when they traveled around the city. Just curious. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Kate,
DeleteThe Duchess would have come from Kensington Palace, so it would have been a bit silly to Buckingham Palace and then back to Baker Street.
Lovely coat and those little hats perched at a jaunty angle--so much nicer than the "fascinators".
ReplyDeleteI have just been watching a bit on TV where she is showing the badge to Prince Philip and they are having a laugh.
Glad to see the Queen is better--I wondered if they had arranged for the Duchess to be there in case the Queen wasn't fit.
In my opinion the coat is not too short when it is worn with the opaque tights.I cannot see any reason why the Queen should find the length offensive--she wore short skirts herself in the sixties and she was older then than Catherine is now.
My goodness - what a surprise I just had...there are photos of Princess Mary of Denmark in the EXACT same Malene Birger coat from 2006 when she was pregnant with Isabella! I wonder if Mary has gifted some clothing items to Kate that she thought would work for Kate's style? Kate is not been known to wear Malene Birger and certainly Princess Mary wears the Danish designer often. I don't think you allow links here - I only found one photo so far but the coat is dead on identical.
ReplyDeleteOne might think that she has....
DeleteKate did wear Malene Birger previously - her bisquit/golden coat she repated for some weddings (among them the Zara´s one)and wore for Olympics is actually from Malene Birger, just her another brand. And then the neutral dress with khaki waistband she wore in Canada was from Malene Birger too.
DeleteHello everyone :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your comments, I love to hear your thoughts on the engagement/outfit.
Many thanks to those who pointed out Princess Mary owns the same piece, it's a striking garment.
It's lovely to see Kate out with HM and Prince Philip and the fact she asked to take part says quite a lot in my opinion. The Queen adores William and has forged quite a bond with Kate, no doubt Kate is learning so much from her.
Kate - I expect Kate travelled in a separate car because she may have travelled from KP whilst The Queen travelled from Buckingham Palace.
I am surprised it wasn't announced until this morning. Due to security? or HM's health?
No it was not announced today. I saw it on someones tumblr yesterday afternoon. I was surprised you didnt include the event in the upcoming engagements section. It wasn't even a rumor. It was confirmed.
DeleteIt was embargoed until 8 a.m. this morning and not officially announced until then.
DeleteThank you all for your comments x
Charlotte, thanks for the reply. I was just wondering if there was a specific reason for separate cars, but I guess not. Thanks again for doing a fabulous job this week with all the posts and updates! You are greatly appreciated!!!
DeleteI love her complete outfit from head to toe she looks sensational. Thanks for the great post Charlotte.
ReplyDeleteI like the details of the coat and I think it's hilarious Mary wore this same coat in 2006 and while expecting. This hat is my favorite in Kate's collection :)
ReplyDeleteShe looks absolutely beautiful today! I do think that the coat is supposed to be a bit longer in the back based on the picture of the back of the similar one posted above. This transition stage between not being able to wear your regular clothes and not quite ready for maternity wear is tricky. :)
ReplyDeleteHey Theresa! Happy to see another Texan on here! I think you are right that the in-between stage, transition stage can be difficult. At close to 6 months I would think she should be building up a maternity wardrobe. :) Maybe she's saving the wardrobe for warmer weather?
DeleteIt must be difficult to find coats long enough to cover even short dresses, especially given her height. There is never enough hem to let a garment down these days. And the shops are full of those "hi-lo" hems; just think of the dip in back as a design feature.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to see Kate with the Queen and the Prince Philip.
ReplyDeleteFantastic post Charlotte! Thank you so much!
We are going to see her in coats and opaque tights during winter for the rest of her life. Hope she realizes pants and coats go well too.
ReplyDeleteAnd she wore a green(ish) coat a few days ago. She doesnt wear color, and when she does, it's the same blue/green we see her in most of the time. If she's going to wear a new coat, how about a different color!
Like the hat.
I have never seen a photo of any English royal in pants during an offical engagement. Maybe it is something that is not aloud. And what kind of statement is "we are going to see her in coats & opaque tights during winter"? What is wrong with that if it is going to keep you warm.
DeleteDear Charlotte-You have really gone "above and beyond" this week. With various appearances so close together, you have masterfully reviewed them all. I've enjoyed the posts so much! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI must weigh in on Kate's hemlines. I would like to see them just a bit lower, especially on the coat/dress combo from the Child Bereavement UK appearance. Kate is very beautiful. Her height is a great part of her ability to wear almost anything well. If her skirts were just a bit longer to balance her stature, I think some of the garments would hang and flow better.
I didn't like Kate's updo from St. Patrick's Day-too much volume. I would have liked a sleeker style. I thought it was aging. I still love that green coat and was happy to see it again.
Pregnancy certainly agrees with Kate now that the early sickness has passed. It's a joy to see her looking well and happy. Her condition is probably contributing to the length and health of her beautiful hair.
I'm sure her advancing pregnancy will mean almost exclusively new outfits in the months to come so that's very exciting.
Happy Spring to everyone!
I think she needs to watch the hemlines - esp when with HRH!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see Princess Mary in the same coat if anyone knows where I can find the picture!
ReplyDeleteHello Abby, there's a link in the post (just above the photo of the coat) :)
DeleteCharlotte do you have a video to today's engagement?? It would be awesome to see Kate in the video!thanks chica!xoxo
DeleteI found Princess Mary looking more elegant and appropriate in this dress. Kate is trying to hard to make it look good and for once she isn't able to carry it off. Normally, b/w kate and pippa, kate always wins, but in this one Princess Mary is the clear winner!!!
DeleteHi Siddhii!
DeleteThere's one here http://news.itnsource.com/?cat=Royal :)
Interesting that It was the same length on Princess Mary, who also wore it with black opaque tights and heels!
ReplyDeleteGREAT BLOG! Fun outing for the Queen, Prince Philip & our girl. It was great to see Her Majesty & the Prince looking so well. It is clear that the relationship between the Catherine and the Queen & Philip is very strong & sweet. Including Catherine in these events with them is great training for her…from the very best.
ReplyDeleteIt was the 4th time the Queen had invited Catherine to attend an official event with her & it is reported that Catherine may have actually requested to attend this one. Perhaps as one of the few (only?) highest-ranking royals who actually used to ride the tube in her “previous” life she felt a bit more of a personal connection to the event. In fact, Catherine mentioned to her hosts that she used to ride the tube on a regular basis & admitted that she missed riding it.
Her life has changed in so many ways & I am sure there are many things she used to be able to do that she misses not begin able to do. As we know, though, she does try to retain as much normalcy as possible (going grocery shopping, walking the dog, running into Starbucks) and that is one of he reason we love her so much, right?
Of course my favorite moment was when Catherine was presented with the “Baby on Board” pin.
It turns out these pins serve an actual purpose: pregnant women can wear them so that people will know they are pregnant (sometimes it’s not always obvious!) & perhaps offer them a seat on the train. I think that is SO wonderful. It’s always a touchy subject isn’t it?
A final word on what seems to be a very warm & sincere relationship between the Queen & Catherine: I think the fact that Catherine feels so comfortable around the Queen speaks volumes. I think that for most women who married her sons, it wasn't easy to connect to the Queen. No one's fault, it was just a different time & different personalities. I think with the younger generation & as time has gone by, the Queen has mellowed & so Catherine & Sophie have benefited from a more relaxed relationship. They of course show her tremendous respect but I think they feel as thought they can be themselves around her. Many lessons have been learned from the past & I think the Queen is probably delighted to have these charming young ladies as part of the monarchies future. xo Lulu
The Queen looks beautiful. Prince Phillip looks handsome. So nice to see them both out together. Catherine is glowing.
ReplyDeleteI have said all along kate ready needs to have her shoes dyed to match her outfits.
kate does look more smart with the knee lenght dresses and coats.
Why does she need to have her shoes dyed to match each outfit? She would certainly be criticized for the expense of that, much better to do as she does with basic coloured shoes.
DeleteWell Queen Elizabeth and Kate like their black shoes, gloves and purses. Smart move as far as I'm concerned, would be a pain to have to figure out new ones each time.
ReplyDeleteMissed yesterdays post. Precious for William being able to spend time with those who have gone through the same trials as him. What a world of compassion he must have.
More precious moments (memories) Kate is making with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. So happy the Queen was able to get out and about with her family.
Lots of love to you all! A bit sprinkly outside so sorry I can't send you any sunshine. :)
Robin Indiana USA
ReplyDeleteSuch a treat today. I think it was wonderful that Kate asked the QEII if she could come along. They seem to have a special relationship. I thought both the Queen and Kate looked fantastic even matching. Kate really has that beautiful baby glow, her hair just shines. She really looks happy and I loved the button so cute! Thank you Charlotte for your fast and hard work. I truly appreciate.
It would be fun to think that the two royal ladies were sharing maternity clothes as so many women do. Mary is just a bit shorter then Kate and the coat is a little longer on her. Suppose it's pretty unlikely and Kate has worn that brand before. I would have liked to see the coat knee length on both of them, the length of the Saint Patrick's Day coat was perfect for Kate. More elegant, but this is a great looking coat.
ReplyDeleteI guess now we have a clue that they are becoming full-time royals. An engagement date has been released; in April, 2 days in Scotland, with Prince Charles.
ReplyDeleteIf that is true, I feel a bit sorry for William, because he does not seem to love his role as a royals as much as his job as RAF pilot...
DeleteI know many of you are not fans of the Daily Mail, but they have some great pictures and videos of yesterday's engagement. :) Hope you all are having a great day!
ReplyDeleteKate's legs are fantastic! show them off girl. Lovely moment with Kate and the Duke with her showing off her baby on board pin. i know the naysayers believe that The Queen HATES Kate, the Queen does not suffer fools, you know if she does not approve. These joint appearances show approval.
ReplyDeleteHi Charlotte!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice that Kate, the Queen and Philip go the these official engagements all toghether: two different generations united (plus one: Baby Cambridge!), representing the past, the present and future of the Monarchy. However, I don't believe that Kate asked for it, it just seems the Palace's clear and good strategie. :)
On a different note: I will have to agree with those who begin to say that Kate is wearing way too short coats and dresses... And I DARE say: she should wear pants every now and then! Princesses Charlene, Mary and Letizia wear pants all the time, and they are effortlessly chic and classy!! Just a thought. :)
Hugs from Portugal!
Z.
I agree with you that her coats/ dresses are getting a little too short. But I think that's at least partly because she's trying to fit into regular clothes. I have never had a child, so I don't really know if there's any suitable maternity wear for her at this stage of her pregnancy... but I would think that there is.
DeleteAlso, you're right - wearing pants every once in a while couldn't hurt. They might even be more comfortable for her to wear...
Kate could wear pants today...she's doing Scouts training at the Great Tower Scout Camp at Newby Bridge.
DeleteNice to see an increase in engagements. Hope this trend will continue. I don't care if her work is charity or community, such as what she did yesterday with the Queen and her events with Prince Charles. Work is work. Inevitably, some people will criticize her for not being charity oriented like Diana (and Harry!). She only visited her charities once last year. I believe, based on how safe William and Kate play everything, that neither she, nor William, will ever take up a controversial causes like AIDS (in the 80's and 90's it was very controversial), landmines, and eating disorders. Today we can equate that to gay rights and sex trafficking.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, when is the much anticipated announcement of Kate's new patronages? If a charity dealing with HG is not on there, I will think very low of Kate. When better than now to support such a cause?
That one addiction charity that she's a patron of is already far more controversial than I thought she would ever go. And I don't mean to blame her for it, really I don't. I can understand that if your every move is scrutinized already, you wouldn't want to do anything that could possibly add to that.
DeleteBlake- I think you are one of those who dislike Catherine. I have read many of your comments and they are always having something to do with her lack of work. And now you are saying if Catherine does not pick a charity that has something to do with the HG you will think very low of her. Have you even gave a thougth that maybe Catherine had been researching charities way before she got sick.
DeleteCatherine is not the only person who had this sickness. Maybe she will pick somethign to do with it or maybe she will not but to dislike her for not picking just show that no matter what Catherine does will not be good enough for you.
The people of England love her for what she has done and what she will do in the future. She is still considered a new royal and still getting her feet settled under her. She will do great things. And many English people get very upset when Catherine get's compared to Princess Diana. They are two very different people. And William & the Queen have learned from the past to give her the time she need's to settle in. So if it is ok with them why should we as fans get after her about what charities she will pick or how many times she visits them.
There's a difference between a short dress and coat that is supposed to be short and a dress or coat that looks like it's just too short for the person wearing it. Such is the case with the Birger coat. It looks like it's just too short on Kate due to the style, which indicates, to me at least, a knee-length dress. I understand trying to draw attention away from the midsection (although she's not even that big yet) but too-short dresses are not the way to do it. They just make it look like she's wearing someone else's clothes! Interesting on the reports that Kate's office "asked" to join the Queen and Prince Philip. Perhaps due to pressure on Will and Kate for their lack of public engagements? Or a PR move by Will and Kate's people to remind the Queen of how popular Will and Kate are with the public when they do choose to appear, and thus, lessen the pressure by the Palace on them to do more?
ReplyDeleteOK, 3rd time lucky, right? I hope so...
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I think the reason the engagement wasn't announced earlier was that no one was sure whether it would be The Queen or Kate. I bet Kate was lined up to do the engagement solo if The Queen wasn't up to it yet. And then when The Queen was OK to do it I bet they asked Kate to continue to attend so as to take some focus off the Queen and her health.
I do think it seems to indicate that The Queen is pretty happy with the job Kate has done so far. I mean, she might wish for Kate (& William) to be more full-time but I'm sure she is happy with the engagements that Kate has done in terms of her performance.
I do think the hem was too high myself. Yes, she's got great legs, but...
HEllo Ms. Charlotte- Is there a possibilty that the Duchess's engagement could be cancelled tomorrow beccause of the weather. I have read where England is to get 3 inches of snow? If it still goes I just hope the Duchess does not try and climb a tree...lol What is the time for this engazgement any idea?

Thank you, Charlotte! Love your posts but miss your blogroll. Please bring it back.
ReplyDeleteI do scrapbooks of everything kate wears. I use your site to find out if she has just been out and about.I can't say how utterly delighted I was this morning when I checked and saw the Duchess in that gorgeuos green coat and with HM the Queen and HRH Prince Phillip.I love the royal family so much My favourite is Autumn Phillips who lives such as simple life with two beautiful daughters.
