William and Kate Arrive in Snowy Sweden!

William and Kate arrived in Sweden just after 9pm tonight ahead of their four-day Scandinavian tour. There was no planned pool for official photos of the arrival, however, Swedish news outlet Expressen exclusively obtained several snaps. You can view them here.

Richard Palmer noted the couple didn't leave until George and Charlotte finished school and nursery today.

From the airport, the couple travelled to the residence of British Ambassador to Sweden, David Cairns. It was built between 1914–1915 and designed by the Scottish architect Sir Richard Allison.

Expressen reports the couple will enjoy scenic views of Djurgårdsbrunnsviken - a central bay in Stockholm. You can see the Ambassador's Residence in the middle below.

Ahead of the visit, David Cairns said: "This is something exciting for Great Britain and Sweden's relationship. We're looking forward to it!" We can expect to see him with William and Kate at several engagements including tomorrow's glamorous black tie dinner, held at his residence.

Earlier today, he shared photos of a selection of British drinks laid out ahead of the arrival.

From the photos we can see Kate wore her vibrant pink Mulberry coat. Kate debuted the piece when she was expecting Charlotte and most recently wore it in Coventry earlier this month.

The £2,600 coat was described this way: 'A double-breasted coat is a timeless winter style with a reassuringly classic silhouette. Updated in vibrant cerise, this version has beautiful finishing details including elegant horn buttons and contrasting midnight blue lining.'

A refresher on tomorrow's packed itinerary:

Tuesday, 30 January, Stockholm:

  • The tour will begin in Stockholm with a morning visit to a bandy hockey event at Vasaparken, an outdoor ice-skating venue in the centre of Stockholm. The Duke and Duchess will arrive at the rink from the Residence of the British Ambassador to Sweden, where they will have stayed the night before. The Duke and Duchess will meet a group of local bandy players on the ice, and learn more about the sport and its popularity in Sweden.
  • Next, the Duke and Duchess will travel to the Royal Palace of Stockholm to attend a luncheon hosted by King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia to welcome William and Kate to Sweden. Approximately fifteen members of the Swedish Royal Court will attend the luncheon, including Crown Princess Victoria and her husband Prince Daniel.
  • Following the luncheon, the Duke and Duchess, accompanied by Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, will walk through the picturesque cobbled streets of Stockholm from the Royal Palace to the Nobel Museum. During this walk, Their Royal Highnesses will have an opportunity to meet members of the Swedish public that will have assembled in Stortorget, the oldest square in Stockholm, and a charming public space outside the Nobel Museum. Once inside the Museum, Their Royal Highnesses will meet a number of Nobel Laureates, and will hear more from the Museum's curator about Science in Sweden and the Nobel Laureate system.
  • From the Nobel Museum, the Duke and Duchess will travel to Ark Des, Sweden’s national centre for architecture and design. Here, Their Royal Highnesses will attend an event celebrating architectural collaboration and the best of Swedish design, from the most iconic and global furniture brands, to up-and-coming homeware designers with new takes on sustainable furnishings.
  • That evening, the Duke and Duchess will attend a black tie dinner at the Residence of the British Ambassador, attended by members of the Swedish Royal Family, and representatives from government, and popular culture, including Prime Minister Stefan Löfven, and actors Stellan Skarsgård and Alicia Vikander.

See you in the morning! :)

    1. Thank you for pointing it out! I can't believe I missed that, but I did.

That must be the inimitable Mr. Charlotte's doing if I'm not mistaken.

  3. So, if I got this correct, we should have three outfits tomorrow.
-a sporty one in the morning
-a dress and coat for luncheon and museum
-an evening gown for the dinner

  4. Great banner for the tour-my compliments to your husband.

Cute detail about Will and Kate not leaving until they had a chance to pick up George and Charlotte.

I read on Expressen (using Google translate) that the Cambridges can't stay at the Royal Palace due to renovations taking place. The same thing happened to the President of Finland who stayed at the Grand Hotel.

I look forward to seeing pictures of Will and Kate with Victoria and Daniel and hopefully Estelle and Oscar.

This is so exciting! My traveling days are over, but I love following Kate and I LOVE that coat. Well, the color of the coat - I love bright colors especially during the deep winter.

  11. Charlotte, do you see all the fuss about Amanda Cook the hairdresser's photo of the hair care items she was packing? Some were saying she would be fired. What do you think?

    1. I think that's a possibility. And if not, she'll certainly get a stern talking to. I can't even fathom why she would do this when she knows she's not supposed to. Why would you risk your nice job as royal hairdresser over a stupid picture? Plus isn't it weird that we haven't heard anything from Kate's hairdressers in years and then this week, two stories concerning her hair & two different hairdressers come out?

    2. It was a silly and totally unnecessary thing to do. Very poor judgment on her part.

  13. I think I spy Rebecca Deacon in one of the pictures, waiting inside the building, behind the door as William and Kate got out of the car. I could be wrong but it certainly looks like her.
