Hello hello, we have a few brief updates and a giveaway for you today!
Kensington Palace announced an addition to Kate's November schedule yesterday. On Tuesday, 17 November the Duchess of Cambridge will attend the the Fostering Network's 2015 Fostering Excellence Awards. Kate will present the Fostering Achievement Award, which celebrates extraordinary achievements by young people aged 16 to 24.
The engagement follows on from an event Kate attended hosted by the Fostering Network in January celebrating the work of foster carers. The Duchess wore the Hobbs Animal Shirt Dress, her Stuart Weitzman Power Pumps and Mirabelle Lolita Earrings. The Duchess was obviously impressed by what she saw on the day and has decided to continue to support the organisation.
Kevin Williams, chief executive of the Fostering Network, said:
'We’re delighted that we will have an extra special guest attending this year’s Fostering Excellence Awards. The spotlight that will be placed on these young people, who have worked so hard with the support of their foster carers to change their future, is thoroughly deserved. Sadly not every young person has a positive start in life, but the Fostering Network, foster carers and all those involved in working with fostered young people throughout the UK will continue to strive to make life better for them.'
Hundreds of foster carers, children and young people, and people from throughout the fostering community right across the UK are due to attend the annual celebration of fostering hosted by television star Holly Willoughby.
A look at Kate's November calendar thus far:
- 7 November - Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall.
- 8 November - Remembrance Sunday.
- 17 November - The Fostering Network's annual Fostering Excellence Awards.
- Late November - It is believed William and Kate will carry out a day of engagements in Wales.
There's been a number of reports in the media in recent days sharing William and Kate's plans to tackle cyberbullying. The stories surfaced in an article for the Sunday Times by reliable royal reporter Roya Nikkhah who revealed the couple "are on a mission to help young people who suffer bullying and mental health problems" and will meet organisations including Facebook and Twitter in the new year for a "constructive dialogue".
Aides told the Sunday Times:
'The Duke definitely wants to meet them and hear what they think can be done, what needs to change and what he can do to help. It's an area that's being explored.
Their role as parents is definitely shaping their perceptions on the issues. As parents themselves they want to speak out and see what more can be done for young people who are victims of cyberbullying and all forms of bullying.'
Cyberbullying is an enormous issue especially for teenagers and as social media platforms expand so does the pressure on teens, causing stress and anxiety for large numbers of children. There are certainly areas of improvement which need to be explored, such as tackling trolls and online bullies. I hope to see the Duke and Duchess really taking this on with engagements, meetings, speeches and future patronage choices. It's a huge problem and one they could make a difference in.
I've received several emails from readers interested in adding a pair of 'Kate' boots to their wardrobes and thought I'd share some excellent sales and savings opportunities online. Callie shared an email to let us know there's a fantastic sale on Stuart Weitzman footwear at Saks Fifth Avenue with up to 50% off selected styles. The popular Mezzaluna boots are included, reduced from $625 to $399. They are almost identical to Kate's half n half boots by the brand.
Melanie shared news Kate's ever-popular Aquatalia 'Royal' booties appear to have been released in another updated version (presumably carrying on from last year's version, the 'Reece' which is discounted at present). The Danele Weatherproof Almond Toe booties come in several colours, retailing for $495 at Nordstrom.
Now, time for something fun!
We've teamed up with the lovely folks from Azuni London for a giveaway. For those unfamiliar with Azuni - it was founded by Ashley Marshall, who previously worked as a chef at the Dorchester. He decided to channel his creative personality into designing jewellery, seeking inspiration for his pieces from his extensive travels, which have taken him everywhere from Oaxacra in Mexico to immersing himself in Native American culture and the study of their ancient art. The result is eclectic, unique and accessible pieces which have been featured widely in magazines from Vogue to Cosmopolitan.
The brand are giving one lucky reader a pair of their much-loved Athena Drop Earrings, as worn by the Duchess. The aqua chalcedony drop stud earrings come with a 24kt gold finish.
Below we see the Duchess wearing her pair in Tuvalu, where they added a colourful finish to her royal tour look. She also sported them for the wedding of family friend Thierry Kelaart and during a shopping trip in London.

A larger version of the Athena earrings is also available.
