Kate in Nautical Stripes and Zara Blazer to Meet Military Families in Auckland

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took a flight from Wellington to Auckland this morning for a day of official appearances.

The Duke and Duchess looked rested as they prepared for another day of engagements.

Day 5 of the Royal Tour began with a visit to the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) base at Whenuapai, home to more than a thousand serving airmen and women, and the largest air force base in New Zealand.

The couple met base personnel and their families in a hangar just next to the runway.

It was an informal occasion, which offered Their Royal Highnesses the opportunity to recognise and thank personnel and their families for their service, many of whom will have served on operations overseas.

Richard Palmer noted there was an improvement in weather. It's been very much a case of rain, drizzle and dullness thus far, so it certainly made a nice change.

The Duchess sported a military style blazer by Zara. The navy blue Double Breasted Jacket retails for £80 and is available in a number of sizes at the moment (although that is very likely to change quickly). It's very similar to her Smythe blazer, but a staple piece the Duchess will wear time and time again.

Kate's Breton Top is by London based brand Me + Em. The £48 lyocell cotton top features a scoop neckline, 3/4 length sleeves and ruched detailing to the bottom hem. Kate is certainly a fan of Breton tops and has several in her wardrobe.

The Duchess wore her Zara skinny jeans.

And completed the look with her Stuart Weitzman Corkswoon Wedges. The stylish wedges are currently available on the Stuart Weitzman Website. They're available for $385 with Free Shipping at Zappos and Bloomingdales.

I liked this look, it was very appropriate for the nature of the event. I instantly thought it was "very Kate" and true to her signature style. Thus far, the Duchess has been favouring high-end labels and longer hemlines. It's quite nice to see her in a high street blazer, skinny jeans and oh-so-high wedges. Whilst it's been wonderful to see Her Royal Highness looking regal on the tour, one always senses she feels most comfortable in this type of look. We've seen this look multiple times and it's become something of a uniform for an array of events. Should she have changed it up with pants? a different colour blazer?

Next, William and Kate are competing in boat races, so we can expect some great photos. Apparently we can expect a change of clothes for the Duchess.

Hmmm... I'm not sure I like the head-to-toe navy look. I like each piece individually, but I think that blazer with those jeans - in such a similar shade of blue - makes it look like a bad pantsuit. Add the navy shoes and it's all a bit too much. All in all, I'm really not loving Kate's wardrobe choices on this tour. But I do love all of your totally up-to-date posts. As someone from Sydney, I'm amazed that you beat even our own local news agencies!! Well done!

    1. Top half is suitable for the event. Bottom half is all wrong. This is not a youth barbecue or casual meet and greet. This is an official visit from HRH's to an air base. I too love Charlotte's great posting though!

    2. Sydney Kate and Anon, although I do like this outfit and I do think it's appropriate for this visit, I did wince when I saw the multiple shades of navy mixed. I know from experience it's tough to match navy, if they're not from the same designer, and they tend to look weird together when mixed.
The very tall wedges with the ankle-length pants also tends to make the pants look like they're just too short, rather than actually designed to hit the ankle.

    3. I agree. About Kate and Charlotte.
I love the updates and think you do so well. I haven't seen a whole look I love, yet. I like parts of everything, but

    4. Hi Elizabeth, I mean this question sincerely, how do think it's appropriate? In that picture with the family, she is the most underdressed. There is a man in uniform and she is wearing jeans. And the jeans aren't even crisp - they're faded and worn.

    5. I do love this look. It is tried and true and is comfortable. I would doubt she will use it again for the tour, but I am not surprised she is wearing it here. Makes her warm and approachable; and if she has to change again, it is ever so practical (and ever so Kate) to wear something she feels "herself" in.
Did you know that some uber-fashionable French women will wear one look to death because they KNOW they look good in it? Maybe Kate is taking lessons from the French?

    6. Too casual for a military meet and greet. The navies don't go well with each other, and the jeans look faded out. I still can't understand the fascination of 5 inch heels with jeans, either. Fail. Cords and cahmere like her husband would have been a better choice.

    7. I seriously don't mind the navy. But I'm really over seeing her in those ridiculously clinging jeans for anything official. We see her in these pants out in Kensington Park walking Lupo and with George. That's fine. Please a classy pair of fitted pants would complement the outfit so much more and show a little more effort.
Admittedly, most of the crowd are dressed casually (look at the crowd in shorts inside the hangar). But casual shouldn't mean everyday jeans from the royal visitors.
But she is working the crowds well, so it's nice to see that element coming together.
Seems like William has perked up too.
I don't think he's that crumpled up. It's the nature of the chinos pants to wrinkle easily.
Perhaps this is why Kate opted for such figure hugging pants - so she disembarks from the plane wrinkle free? ( I'm sure there are wrinkle free fabrics out there for a nice pair of slim pants anyway.)
I've enjoyed her dress code thus far. Today was a little disappointing, but she is doing a fine job.

    8. We've just finished watching the yacht race and guess what???
Nor Kate and William changed their clothes!
The jeans were worn for possibly a practical purpose. Getting wet, flexible movement etc.
Let's not be quick to judge.
It did seem a little odd for Kate to do such a 180 turn after the change her clothes are reflecting in this tour.
Give her a chance. Although I just can't accept those wedges. Does she really feel the need to tower over everyone? Or does she feel she needs to come up to William's level?
I think she's shining on this tour.

      Delete
    9. Let's not be so quick to judge but I can't accept her wedges and she feels the need to tower over people? (For the record, they are not my favourite either and I have said so on this blog but I don't say she feels the need to tower - maybe she just likes them!)

      Delete
    10. Not "judging" the wedges anon 22:09, simply putting forward a number of rhetorical questions.
If I was certain about why she wears them I would be making a statement. The question marks eradicate the definitive statement which you seem to think has been put forward.
I think if Kate enjoyed wearing them so much, you'd see her wearing them far more often on a casual/private basis. Instead she seems quite happy and more comfortable in flats and lower heeled boots when shopping etc.

  2. Hello again Charlotte. Hope you're doing well.
I think we could have all predicted this look lol. It's been repeated so many times. As much as I love this look on her I do wish she would switch it up and not be so predictable. Every time there is an engagement such as this, it's her go to look like a uniform.

  3. These jeans are worn and totally inappropriate for this event. There are men in uniform and she is on official business touring an air force base. A similar shaped pant would be fine. I am a huge fan of Kate it it upsets me when she doesn't dress appropriately. Sure, I quibble about a hem line or a hat style, but those are personal preference. Skirts flying up in the wind and jeans to visit a place where people are in uniform are not acceptable as great as she may look in them. Why not invest in a pair of casual dress pants?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Totally agree anon. I think navy blue fitted slacks with a wide leg would have looked amazing with that jacket.

      Delete
    2. She looks great and very appropriate. And as for skirts flying up what's the big deal. It has happened to us all. The poor Duchess flew into a wild storm in NZ and I doubt anything would have kept a heavy coat and skirt down. This is a positive site for HRH supporters, please feel free to post negative comments elsewhere.

      Delete
    3. Amelia, the big deal is when you do not wear pants underneath your tights. Kate does not.

Yes, her skirt flew up for probably a microsecond that high. But it was long enough for someone to isolate it and send it around.

      Delete
    4. We do Kate a disservice by making her "one of us." She is human and yes accidents happen BUT she is in a position not like us. She is in a position where there are cameras taking pictures of her all the time. She is in a position where she has worn a flouncy skirt to an airport and the whole world could see her behind. The big deal is, people are talking about seeing up her skirt and not her work.

And I am the anon that posted the original comment. I know who this blog is for. People like me who love to see Kate and want her to do well and are disappointed when she makes choices that set her up poorly. Please reread my comment to see how it is said with love and a helpful suggestion.

    5. Oh, settle down Amelia. We can love Kate but still provide constructive criticism of her. I think she always looks gorgeous even if I don't like her outfits. And this was boring. Another navy striped shirt?? Why not red stripes? Pink stripes? Green stripes?? Seriously - boring!!

  4. I had so hoped she would ditch the skinny jeans, I just don't think they are appropriate work wear, Even for a casual event like this, there are pants that don't show every nook and cranny of her figure. The blazer just emphasizes her broad shoulder skinny waist shape. I hate the wedges with the pants, sorry, not a good look. I have seen her wear this in the pics getting off the plain in Mustique, and at a children's sports event. The skinny jean and 5 inch wedges are too sexy for this event.

    2. Yes..too sexy for a room full of children and men in uniform for an official visit. It is disrespectful and shows no appreciation or respect for her audience who made more of an effort then she did. She can surely find slim cut slacks. This has been her go too outfit many times.

    6. Agreed. Totally appropriate for a sporting event, lunch with friends, shopping, a casual office day but completely inappropriate for an official event. A navy blue dress would have been respectful, especially since the wives dressed up a bit. What is going on with Kate since George? I want her to be modern and dignified like she was on Canada and Malaysia trips but have not really been wowed by anything in NZ. Though confess, did like the Catherine Walker coat... Wish she wore her hair up for State event because would have showed off sparkly NZ emblem on shoulder much better.

    7. I don't know how many people would get away with wearing skin tight jeggings that show the outline of their behind to a professional setting.

    8. To add to my last comment, I am someone who enjoys wearing tight jeans and form-fitting tops myself.
But I know what is appropriate for work and what is not.

    9. Her outfit reminds me of a Robin Williams joke about pants so tight you could tell what religion a guy is. Top and blazer are great for the event, but yes, a great pair of tailored slacks would actually probably been much more "relate-able" for the army wives.

  5. First let me say that I love this blog! I can get my "Kate news" direct without wading through a bunch of other stuff that doesn't interest me. And I have to admit that I have think I have only posted once before. So here goes, while I think the Duchess looks nice, it really bothers me that she is in jeans. Do you see how the moms and the little girls are all wearing dresses and have obviously made an effort to dress up for the such an important visitor? I realize that she has a boat race to go to later, but she is apparently carrying a change of clothes, so couldn't she have worn something just a bit more polished for all those service men and women? And William too for that matter! I believe it was the Queen Mother who, when asked why she wore her pearls and furs during the austere time of war, answered that the people wear their best to see her and so they deserve the best from her.

    1. Great story about the Queen Mother. It sums up my feelings on why she should not be wearing those jeans to this event. Thanks for sharing!

      Delete
    2. Yes, the Queen Mother did say that. However, I never found the pictures of her posing in her finery among the rubble, often with the waiting, chauffeured car visible, authentic. People had to continue to live in that bombed-out mess, but she could swan back to the palace of her choosing. The Duchess does not pose. Her greatest gift is that she is herself. We can't expect her to be like someone else.

Though I was surprised at their casual apparel for this occasion, she also has to take her cue from her husband. He's the military man and penultimate heir to the throne. If he chooses casual dress, she can't be over-dressed to his under--and vice versa.

The comments during this tour are getting a bit tiresome. The Duchess is not our Barbie doll or our fashion show. Shoes too this, dress too that, hair too something else. Wishing for tiaras and sniping about buttons and colours. I'd like to see any of us organize and shop for a tour like this with multiple stops and clothing changes daily and come anywhere close to looking as good in a photo. Give the woman a break.

Hello, Caroline in Montana, the "thigh gap" is when your thighs do not touch because of thin legs even when you are standing straight with your feet together. Some women are naturally built so. Some become so because they are anorexic. It is the new trend for young girls to obtain that and they can mostly do so by not eating, which is dangerous, of course.
I believe the Duchess is naturally thin, but some people worry she is undereating.
      All best :-)

  11. To me, it's like putting on your comfortable jeans to run errands. Kate needs to take it up a notch and wear something that doesn't look so worn out and so frequently seen. Dress slacks would have been terrific and unexpected.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I think this outfit was perfect and appropriate for both travel, even though they would have their staff with them, but for travel AND then for meeting the military families in an informal setting. Will and Kate dressing casually, dressing in pieces that anyone might own in some version, puts the families more at ease for this meet and greet in a way that a more formal outfit would not have.
Thoughts and prayers going out to all of those in Queensland, and the areas about to be impacted by Tropical Cyclone Ita. It's about 9 p.m. Thursday here, almost noon in Cairns, Queensland, and the storm is expected to make landfall Friday night Queensland time. Stay safe, Queenslanders!!

  13. I've been following up Kate's style for a long time and this is the worst outfit I have ever seen on Kate. I like each piece of this outfit but not the combination of them. Her wedges look too chunky under those skinny jeans, the stripes on her Breton top and the buttons on her blazer together make her front look too "crowded", this blazer and skinny jeans together look as if she just couldn't finish dressing and she had to go out immediately or as if she just forgot to dress her bottom part. As many people mentioned, classic cut slacks and a plain white top would look better as we see on the model of Zara. However, Kate is a beautiful girl, she can look graceful even in a potato sack and she simply shines in all of her photos. I'm looking forward to the boat race :)

  14. SCORE -- I wore those shoes to work today!! Sorry about that, but it always makes my day when I wear something the same day she does (I need to get a life, I know).

Ok, back to Kate -- she scores too, wonderful and appropriate outfit. I always liked this combination, although she's worn it before. She really has done very well this tour -- it seems she is back to her old self again.

But OMG -- is she getting super skinny or is it just me? This reminds me of the Canada tour right after the wedding when she was super thin. Anybody else concerned?

    2. I noticed the same thing Lynn she is getting super thin again. It worries me too that Kate feels she has to be super thin like that. As one commenter posted she has a thigh gap. If you're unfamiliar with what that is, it's when you basically have zero fat anywhere on your legs. They're mainly associated with girls with eating disorders. Not saying Kate has one but, that is worrying. Girls who look up to her will feel like they have to be as thin as her. She looks gorgeous when she has a little more weight on her. Hope she isn't succumbing to the pressure to be super skinny.

    7. I am sorry but this "thigh gap" thing is ridiculous! I hate that everyone is so fixated that girls should have curves now aday, that anyway who does not gets labeled as having an eating disorder or being anorexic!!! Kate is a naturally thin woman. She works out hard, and thats why she does not have fat on her legs...same as any athlete. I myself have always had an atheletic build, meaning i also have this "thigh gap", but in no way am i unhealthy because of it! People really need to stop this craziness.. Kate works hard to look how she does, and she looks fantastic.

      Delete
    8. Pleas reread my comments I never said to have a thigh gap you had to have an eating disorder. Just that with the negative portray of it in the media that it's now commonly associated with it. True Kate is naturally thin, but not that thin. Just go back and look at photos of her when her and William announced their engagement. She had a nice shape then, not that she doesn't now. Also in her university days. Compare those weights to now and she's dropped quite a bit.
I hate the personification the thigh gap as well. I know it's the pot calling the kettle black because I myself have one as well, but it wasn't criticizing. More of just a general statement. I can already see the tabloids now "Kate down to 100lbs, William begs her to eat something" it's terrible. I just hope she doesn't feel like she has to be super skinny to be beautiful.

This blog seems to draw a primarily female readership, and it saddens me to hear the way Kate is bashed and bullied by her fellow ladies. We need to support each other and not tear her down. I can't wait for Charlottes next posts!

It is strange that people complain when her dress is to short or long.

    2. Anorher thing, someone commented on WKW FB page how Kate Will and Georgie were wearing red white and blue when the landed in New Zealand. For the flag of New Zealand, and England. I kinda think they did it on purpose.
If it is on purpose then it shows the thought and cordnation in their clothes.

I adore the Duchess and have had no problem with her tour choices so far, but those jeans are faded and worn and way too casual. Find some nicer looking cropped pants like these: http://media.greatplains.co.uk/ms/gp/J4BAA_model.jpg?height=1537&width=1024

  24. Would love to see her change it up with some nice formal dress pants-the kind like her counterpart wore when she visited Denmark. Kate seems to either wear those jeans or a dress\skirt. There is little medium. Thanks for this blog!

  29. I liked this outfit choice from Kate. Smart casual. Ideal to go onto the boats (which I believed she just took her jacket off). The jacket has a nautical theme to it which fits nicely with the sailing on our harbour and I love the shoes. Shame is wasnt last weeks weather which was just lovely. NZ weather is similar to UK, just not as cold, so it may be feeling a bit like its home (if we are lucky).

  31. It's ALL about the BUTTONS on this tour! Pun intended! I particularly do not like this look just because it's been repeated TOO many times. I wish the duchess chose a khaki beige pair of pants or even white colored pants.

Charlotte do you really think the top and the pants are Breton and J Brand respectively? I for one think that they are also ZARA. I have very similar pair of pants from Zara and also a top that looks exactly like that from Zara. Just curious.

    Thank you

  33. Good afternoon from Auckland - I have spent the last few hours at Auckland Harbour and it was an amazing experience. I was 4th of 5th row and close enough to see them interacting with the people. What can I say, I am totally charmed. Still beaming : )
And believe it or not, I couldn't care less about what Kate was wearing (who would have thought???)
I am so glad I went.

    1. If I met Catherine and William and they were wearing trackers I wouldn't care either. They are lovely people and they both seem to make such an effort with actually interacting with people. I know that it is their job to be an example to others, to uphold high standards but they were going on a boat, a very fast boat at that, this was not a fashion event. I was not surprised to see them in more casual clothing. The brief may have called for clothes that didn't matter if they got wrecked. Why wear new items when they would get wet with sea water?

    1. I am dying to see him ditch the blue suit once in a while. He seems to either wear formal black attire or that blue suit. A gray would be nice. Also Catherine needs to ditch the navy on navy or black on black unless the pieces are from the same dye lot because you can see the difference in color. I know I'm being petty and picky but it bugs me. That said-I love them both!

    2. But he looks so great in blue! If I was his stylist, a new dress suit and better casual dress shoes for visits like this. And blue. But some other colours sometimes to remind everyone how great he looks in blue!

    3. I wonder if one of the reasons William wears blue suits is because they were his mother's favorite. That's the reason Charles wore a blue suit to Diana's funeral...

  35. I have to admit...I was there at the Viaduct Harbour in Auckland this morning...I have so many great photos! Catherine's jeans actually looked so much better than they do in your photos and the outfit really did suit the event. And OMG she is so thin. Her thighs are so small - seriously the photos have added so much weight to her it's not funny.

  36. The Prince talking to those little girls? CUTE! I know Kate has a lot of pressure but she also has a great partner out there with her.

  37. It's interesting that people wanted her to wear pants when she's getting off a plane because of the high winds but when she does, they decide she should be wearing skirts. We don't know the reason she chose this outfit. Maybe for comfort, a change because of the other day, who knows. She is getting together to greet military families. I'm sure she wants to appear approachable, and so I find the jeans appropriate. I would really like to see her in a dark pair of trouser jeans with a feminine top, maybe a lighter blue, red, green, or floral. The navy on navy on navy is not that interesting.

As for the comments about her look being too sexy, I think that's ridiculous. She has a slim figure and unless the clothes she wears skim her figure and fits her correctly, she will look unpolished and sloppy. I also think it is appalling to suggest that because she might have a gap between her thighs that she has a weight/eating problem. We have no idea if her thighs touch when she is standing up straight. The pictures of the so called gap are when she is walking downstairs.

    2. I definitely agree with you! I think she chose this outfit to be practical and approachable. I think it was perfectly appropriate and others who are not following her fashion so closely most likely didn't care/know that this is a look she's worn before.

      Delete
    3. I wanted her to wear pants or a more structured skirt getting off the plane so her skirt wouldn't blow up like it did and I want her to dress more formally when visiting service men and women. There is no contradiction. She could have worn pants (not faded jeans) today or a skirt. It was a matter of being too casual today - not pants/skirt/wind debate.

    4. The problem is that people are looking at the civilians for the dress code.

The military has its own dress code. Every member of the military that I saw in NZ was wearing a service uniform, worn on casual occasions and a step up from work uniforms.

So, people can say that Kate was perhaps too informal but what she wore was not inappropriate. Inappropriate would have been William in a suit and tie and Kate in a fancy dress. That would have made everyone feel underdressed, which is I think why they themselves dress down so much.

      Delete
  38. I just think there is so much love, respect and chemistry between these two that they always look fantastic together! Yes, we've seen this outfit a million times, but it was appropriate for the occasion and she obviously likes it.

  39. I liked the look. Sometimes I like to try and climb into the Duchess' head and pretend I'm listening to her plan an outfit for a particular themed outing. I imagine today's thoughts went something like this: "Alright then, we're stopping by the air base for a family meet-and greet and then off to the harbour for our big races! William, I am soooo taking you down this time. OK back to business. Air base = military style blazer. Water means nautical Breton top. Bonus! Those will work great with my favorite J Brands and wedges! They need another sporting event after the volleyball airing!"

I kid, I kid. She looks happy and bright and NZ is loving the Cambridges, even in spite of the plane buzzing past with the "Kiwi for Head of State" banner trailing behind.

  40. Love the new banner, Charlotte! I think both William & Kate are dressed appropriately. They actually spent time on a yacht, but those photos are not shown here. There are some at the Daily Mail. Kate even shed her jacket and is shown wearing a life jacket, as is William. They had to be prepared for an active day... on land and water!

I do think the skinny jeans show how terribly thin she is. There is lots of talk on other forums about Kate having an eating disorder. I hope it isn't true. She would look so much better with a little more weight. For her height I'm sure her BMI is lower than it should be.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Not sure about eating disorder. Gym Junkie. YES!!
Kate's face is not gaunt enough to suggest eating disorder. Think Diana during the height of her eating disorder. It was literally written all over her face. She was skeletal.
Kate has a naturally thin frame (genes - look at her family) and doesn't need much to slim down.. She eats - but eats well.
One of my daughter's is blessed the same way. Eats heaps but is rake thin, with no feminine curves whatsoever.
But I do think Kate spends a large portion of her day training. This you can tell by the muscle definition and her hands. They are hands that do A LOT of weight training.
But I do agree, a little extra fat does suit her face better.
I think she looked best during her first trimester of her pregnancy.

    2. "Talk" "other forums" . Why do people think if they say something on the internet, or repeat it, it must be true. Beware such unsubstantiated remarks. Surprised this passed moderation.

  42. Wonderful site! I'm a huge fan. As most people have commented, her outfit is not a win for me. My biggest quibble is why she would choose to wear five inch heels and literally tower over most of the people she is meeting (including men). Perhaps she feels the higher shoes "dress up" the outfit? The added height could be intimidating and I'm sure that's the last thing she wants. As for the look, the pants do come across a touch worn, but even more importantly, she wears them a lot so it sends a message that this event isn't as important. So much of the royal job is symbolic. The Duchess knows every piece of jewelry and clothing is picked apart so why not step it up? There are plenty of fitted jean/pant options (she could still wear navy) and the truth is that the super skinny look is quickly being replaced by a slightly looser straight silhouette. Her hemlines have come down but she's holding strong to a pant that looks painted on and has always felt a little tacky in my book (I'm in my 30's). I wear them too, but wouldn't for something like this. As for the blue stripe shirt, couldn't she change it up and at least wear a red strip? Or pink? Or grey? I get that's she going for the whole nautical look, but any boatneck top would achieve that. AsI try to get in her head (because it's obvious she cares deeply about her wardrobe and understands the message it sends), maybe she doesn't want the world preoccupied with her clothing choice for this visit and hopes repetition keeps the focus on the true meaning of the event? Just a thought. If that's the strategy, I think it has backfired based on the above comments. All of that said, I love the positive role model the Duchess is and realize that there are things far more important than what she wears. It's a fun diversion to watch (and analyze/backseat drive) from the sidelines. Can't wait for more!

  43. Thanks Charlotte, wonderful post again! I agree with everyone that both Prince William and Catherine could have "upped" the pant choice a bit. Slim fitting slacks for Catherine would have completed the navy look beautifully. And the shoes I was never a fan of, maybe something similar with a slightly lower heel. But maybe I'm just being too fussy now. Great to see them so engaged with the people they meet, that is always no 1!

  44. I loved this look actually! I prefer it over sone of the belted coat looks she's been sporting lately. It was very true to her style and she looked comfortable. I have no problem with the look being too informal, I thought it suited the situation. William isn't in a suit either so perhaps this was meant to be a bit more of an informal meeting? If anything she could have changed her wedges to a nice pair of black or navy heels to make it more formal looking, but I personally think the look as it is with the wedges looks great.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Maybe I am too young but I actually like the outfit as a whole however, I agree with the majority about her pants. She knows that her pants as sunny as it was and the cameras the color of the pants were going to look much lighter giving the impression of been worn a bit too much. My least favorite piece is the jacket I don't know if is because it makes her look like a triangle shape, wide on top and too thin and straight from the waist down.
I believe that if you are going to wear heels make it high, it vamps the outfit I always thought she dresses a few years older than her actual age.
I hope somebody answer my question: But why the English royals wear skirts and dresses for their official engagements (with a few exemptions). Usually is cold or windy besides Royals from other countries wear pants including royal of Muslim countries.
Is this like an unspoken rule??

Just love to read all this before going off to work...

I'm also a bit tired of the skinny jeans at such functions. She wanted trousers to do the race, but I'm sure she could have found something a bit more appropriate, or asked to change into the jeans just before the race. And I don't like them with the very high wedges.

She is naturally thin, lucky girl :-) and she must work out, which explains her frame.
Love how they work well together. They often move in sync, quite naturally... Great to see !
Loving this... Thanks a billion times, dear Charlotte.

Saw the latest two posts only this morning, but immediately my first thought was: Oh dear, how thin she is! The infamous "thigh gap" is certainly (mis-)used by many people with anorexia, sadly so, but sometimes it´s "natural" because of the way you are built. In Kate´s case I think she would still have that "thigh gap" with 20pounds more "on her ribs"... Still, she is very thin and unfortunately for her, she has become some kind of "icon" on many websites "promoting" anorexia. That´s the tricky thing with being a "celebrity" - you might send out the "wrong" message without intending to do so... As far as her outfit is concerned, I´ve said it many times, I don´t like these wedges in combination with skinny jeans, makes the jeans look as if they were too short, so the whole outfit suddenly looks "not appropriate" when really it is.... They were on their way to the boat race and obviously a quick outfit change was not possible..... It´s really tricky to match blue clothes, I´ve experienced it many times. Maybe the red jeans she wore to the hockey event before the 2012 olympics would have made the difference... Anyway, for me the most important really is that she looks radiant and healthy and really seems to like interacting with the people waiting for her! It just looks so natural and as if she was REALLY enjoying herself... considering the fact that this will be her job now for the rest of her life I think that´s just simply great!

Considering that this is a fun event with sport in the middle I really think they dressep up for the occasion!!! :))) But far more important than the cloths it is their attitude, their availability to the ones you are expecting from them and eargerly to have a look at them at the very least :))) Also they are really enjoying all the events :)))) Urraaa to Will and Kate :))))) as well as to little George... 50. Love Catherine and William. That said I have two petty gripes. Catherine should not pair navy on navy or black on black unless they are from the same die lot-you can see a slight difference in color and I don't know why but that bothers me! LOL-silly I know. Alsoooooo-I wish William would ditch the blue suits and wear some other color occasionally. He seems to be seen in that blue suit an awfully lot. A nice gray would be nice for a change. Like I said, just petty complaints because I do love them both.

  51. Hi, without the shoes I would love this look on myself but I am 5 ft 3 and a curvy size 10, kate has the figure of a supermodel and would look good in anything. Those shoes do not suit the jeans, she has flats on in the pics of her sailing and it looks so much nicer.i don't think kate knows how to dress for her age, her formal outfits could be worn by a woman twice her age and her short skirts and super skinnies only suit 20 year olds. I think kate needs to look at Sam Cameron , she dresses very fashionably but appropriately for her age and her position.

I wish that Kate would stop wearing towering heels most of the time, great to see her in the deck shoes (worn out of necessity, I think) She is really not as tall as people think yet creates the illusion that she is with her stacked heels/wedges etc. It would be good if she embraced her natural height. I am short, yes, I would like to be much taller, but I have to accept my natural height.
