Kate Back To Work, Latest Purchase, ISSA Engagement Dress For Maternity Wear + More

We begin today's post with some wonderful news. Duchess Kate is back to work behind the scenes holding meetings with charities and planning future engagements virtually daily. The always informative Richard Palmer reports Kate is continuing to feel better and set to return to public engagements towards the end of February.

It was rumoured the Duchess had a possible engagement next week, but I think we can rule that one out now. However, we will definitely see the Duchess in the coming weeks. The article also reports Kate plans to work for most of her pregnancy.

There have been numerous sightings of Kate out and about lately (most recently including a trip to the hairdressers and Zara. According to US Weekly, on Monday afternoon Kate indulged in some retail therapy at Selfridges department store where she checked out sweaters before purchasing the Kriya Yoga Leggings in grey made by women's sportswear brand Sweaty Betty.

The leggings retail for $46 and are described as a 'full-length fitted legging in natural, soft stretch cotton. Features flat, high waistband for comfort in any pose from inversion to twist'.

Kate also did some shopping at London store JoJo Maman Bébé. Their maternity clothes are designed to be both on trend and affordable, catering for every occasion. JoJo actively supports Nema, a charity that works in rural northern Mozambique to relieve child poverty and enable local communities. The Duchess often takes information like this into consideration and puts a lot of thought into her sartorial choices.

Three of JoJo's best-selling maternity wear pieces are the Breton Stripe Maternity JumperNavy Floral Maternity Dress and the Black Maternity Peacoat.

The royal blue Issa wrap dress worn by Kate for the official engagement announcement is now available in a maternity version. When Kate wore the dress in 2010 it became a sensation, with women all over the world emulating Kate's engagement look.

The maternity piece is available for £522 at Blossom Mother and Child Ltd (a brand we discussed recently in our Maternity Wear possibilities post) and is described as:

'Part of Issa's DNA, this classic wrap dress delivers without fail every time. This season's Issa re-visit iconic style in a chic, flattering and rich indigo shade.'

I anticipate this piece will become a staple for expectant mothers as it's such a versatile dress. The ties can be comfortably fixed above the bump and unlike most maternity clothes it can be worn after the pregnancy.

The wrap dress remains one of my favourite pieces that Kate has worn to date and it is still available at several online retailers in an array of colours, including the traditional Royal Blue which is available at Harrods for £499. The frock is available in Green for €404, Light BluePurple and Pink.

Finally, Vanity Fair have teamed up with the hilarious Anne Victoria Clark for a series of exclusive Kate LOLs. Do take a look, they're really very funny :)

  1. Great post, Charlotte!

  2. Man, I guess the insane paparazzi is just an American thing? I keep expecting to see shots of Kate doing all this shopping, but nope! Good for you guys. Thank the lord she gets a bit of privacy while just out at the grocery store!

    1. Um, Diana was followed by paparazzi in France and Kate was photographed sunbathing in France. Every time she buys a snack she's being photographed in England. Seems to me that the paps are international.

  3. The paparazzi weren't an American thing for Diana or for Kate before she was married. Either they're holding back or royal security is very good at avoiding them. (I was always appalled that the royal family pulled security from Diana, whether she wanted it or not. She was the mother of the heir. Think what a difference that would have made. It is a decision that led to her death!)

Know we aren't Daily Mail fans here, but they do have wonderful photos on their site and at the moment they have a great fashion feature on Kate. Lots of great pictures, inspired by the Vogue article. Just don't read any stupid comments.

  4. Love the duchess out again i hope see getting better i love she doing her thing in private i hope too see her soon

  5. Yes, I agree! As much as I love seeing Kate pictures it is very nice to know when not working she gets to be a normal soon to be mom. Very classy UK people!

  6. I wasn't having a great day but it was good to have a new post, thank you Charlotte.
However, I just don't get the Vanity Fair 'humour' I actually find it quite disrespectful and offensive. It goes against everything Kate is supposed to stand for and I can't imagine her saying anything like any of those comments. Not my cup of tea at all, sorry.

  7. Kate, Texas, USA31 January 2013 at 16:33

Yea...another post!!! Thanks Charlotte! Happy for Kate that there seems to be some normalcy to her pregnancy now and she is feeling better. I am sure all those who have commented on her "lack of work" will be glad to know she's is working. My opinion is there's has always been behind the scenes work that none of us really need to know about with her charity work. The "lack of work" is rubbish! I am thankful she's been allowed to go at her own pace and put her and the baby's health first. Any news on what the upcoming engagements will be?

I LOVE the cute maternity wear! Really makes me want to have a 5th, but I don't think I can convince the hubby!

    1. Hello Kate,

No official word yet but I heard Kate is due to announce new patronages soon, however her upcoming engagements will be with charities she's already familiar with. It will be incredibly exciting for the charities to have Kate visit. Awareness is so important.

    2. The funny thing is that when she does work those who complain will complain when she does work. According to them attending a gala is not work although it raises much needed funds for a charity. To be a patron is NOT to be a worker it is to raise funds and awareness. Also a patron does NOT run the charity's fundraising campaign so those who blame her for one campaign not working are REACHING. We know the drill they complain for the sake of complaining. If she works she is a attention seeker. If she does'nt work while not in plain view she is lazy.

Seems to me Kate is finally feeling 100% hence all the shopping activity, she is finally able to enjoy being a new mother to be which includes shopping for maternity clothing and baby stuff...and also preparing for upcoming events.

  8. I think the "Kate Middleton for the Win" LOLs are very funny. I like to think that Kate has a good sense of humor about herself that she would find them funny as well. Or maybe not! Great website!

  9. Pauline California31 January 2013 at 17:38

Thank you Charlotte for another great post. I can't wait to see the beautiful Duchess on her up coming engagements.

Nice to see her out and about and with out having a camera in her face. I bet William has told the security people to make sure she is protected at all cost. I have to take my hat off to the people in the stores the Duchess have been shopping and not taking her picture on ther phones. She deserves her privacy.

We have been hearing alot on the Duchess but nothing on William. Any news on her handsome husband?

Thank you charlotte again for this great blog.

  10. Glad she is feeling better and looking forward to seeing Kate out and about again...

I don't think I'm a fan of the blue ISSA dress as maternity wear for most women (there has been no indication that Kate has bought the maternity version of this dress).

I believe the fabric that the ISSA dress is made out of will cause the hem to raise in the front as the pregnancy progresses and droop if worn post-partum.

  11. I am very happy to see again the DoC in official engagements, I am looking forward!

  12. It's always such a day brightener to have a new post from you, Charlotte! Thank you so much. I'm very glad that the Duchess is feeling better and is able to be out and about. Looking forward to hearing which new patronages she decides to take on, and hoping she feels well for the remainder of her pregnancy!

  13. I love the "Everyone Cares...That's Who". So funny AND true. :)

  14. This is a great post! Thank you! I'm so glad the Duchess has been out and about with privacy. And it sounds like Mrs. Kate is feeling better too! I'm so happy for her to be feeling and having a good, normal pregnancy. Always in awe of her beauty and look forward to her next engagement. Loving her from Colorado, USA. ~Angela

  15. Sarah from Calif.1 February 2013 at 03:37

The Jojo's Maman Bebe outfits are very nice and such a worthy cause. Kate would look great in those.
With her great figure I still think we have awhile to wait. So glad Kate is feeling better and looking : forward to seeing her out.

Has anyone ever heard the term "sunny California "? Well just to let you know a lot of times that's not always true but, today was beautiful !
No fog, no overcast, not a clould in the sky :)

    1. Kate, Texas, USA1 February 2013 at 15:52

Sarah, I think that calls for another spring song! Enjoy your beautiful weather and have a great weekend!

    2. Pauline California1 February 2013 at 16:16

Hi Sarah- Ya I know that saying. I have lived in California all my life, born & raised. I lived in the South Bay (Southern California) for more then 46 years and we always had sun. Then I moved to the High Desert and until this winter we had sun most days. But this winter we have not seen the sun until the past few days. It is sunny today but cold. We have had snow & rain which we need really bad. During the sumer we have to worry about fires. So the rain will help.

Sorry Charlotte for my message to Sarah. But this is what I love about this blog we connect to people in our own state/country. And for you bring us all the good stuff on the beautiful Duchess. Your the best.

    3. Sarah from Calif.2 February 2013 at 01:22

Kate and Pauline, I will work on another song or poem this weekend.
Oh brother Super Bowl this weekend. I love the strategy of football but, it's all the crunching of helmets. Ouch! !!

    4. Sarah and Pauline since you'll are from ca I'm guessing you'll will be rooting for the 49ers and since I'm in md I'll root for the ravens. May the best team win! Sorry Charlotte for the off topic comment, this is Super Bowl weekend!xoxo

    5. No problem at all! Best of luck to the teams you're all supporting :)

    6. Sarah from Calif.2 February 2013 at 16:39

Charlotte, you probably don't know this but the coaches on each of the opposing teams are brothers. Ouch .. I'm wondering where their mom and dad will be sitting. The end zone is neutral but not a good place to see the game. Hope I'm not boring you. :)

    7. Not boring in the slightest, my fiancé is following it actually. How difficult for the parents of the coaches :) I expect their parents will be remaining neutral!

    8. Pauline California2 February 2013 at 17:39

@Charlotte- Since your fiance is going to be following the Super Bowl, which team if any is he rooting for?

@Siddhii- Even though I love in California I will be rooting for the Ravens. I love #52 Ray Lewis.

@Sarah- I would not want to be the parents of the coaches. I think Iread where they have a sky box towatch the game from. I remember watching a game where the Manning brosthers played against each other and their parents were on pins & needles.

Ok now let's get back to the beautiful Duchess. I hope we see her soon I am really having bad withdrawals. Charlotte have you seen anything about what William's future plans are? He sure has been missing in action. We have seen his beatuiful Duchess but not him. Has there been any sightings of him in London or is he holed up in Wales and leaving LOndon to his Duchess?

    9. Hello Pauline,

Not a word on William's plans with the RAF yet. We have been assured we will hear this month (but we were also assured this in January). I wonder if William's possibly taking a little longer to decide. There have been no sightings of him lately, he's in Anglesey trying to keep his flying hours up while Kate has been dividing her time between Kensington Palace and her parents.

As for the Superbowl, my fiancé said he generally supports the underdog, he has no clear favourite but thinks the 49ers stand a good chance.

I am totally unbiased myself :)

    10. A fact about California there is a rivalry between North and South. Since the 49ers hail from the North many Southern Californian look to other teams to root for as for some reason Southern California has not been able to attact and support a team.

For many american it is a day to forget about nutrition and sit and eat junk food. It is the number one day for pizza delivery so no matter who you root for your mouth is full! I know William is a sport fan I wonder if the Cambridges are watching with Catherine eating lavender biscuits.

    11. Very interesting indeed, thank you for sharing. I would think William and the other guys at RAF Valley will definitely be watching :)

    12. Pauline California2 February 2013 at 20:10

Charlotte- I can't believe that William has not been with his wife. He can't be flying 24/7. I know he need's to keep up his flying time but not spending time with his Duchess is hard to believe. Now that she is feeling better I would think maybe she woudl spend sometime in Wales with him. Please believe me I am not questioning your post. I am just "old" fashion and believe a man's place is by his wife's side when she is pregnant and has been sick. But I guess times have

@Anonymous- How do you know that people from Southern California support other teams just because Los Angeles does not have a team of it's own to support? A lot of people from Southern California support the team in San Diego. I think the reason we (Southern California) does not have a team is because of the cost. It is very costly to have a team in the LA area.

I have lived in Southern California all my life.

    13. Sarah from Calif.2 February 2013 at 21:35

Oh well I will be cooking some what ( ha ha) healthy food for the game but will I watch the game?maybe the last 45 min.) I really can't sit down for 3-4 hours. Ugh.
good time to shop no one is in the stores :)

    14. Pauline California2 February 2013 at 21:51

Charlotte- This has nothing to do with the blog but I have to ask. I have family that were born in the UK and was wondering if you can tell me where in England they were born compared to LOndon. My brother in law was born in Caterham and my grandmother was born in Newport Pagnew Buckinghamshire in 1898. She met my grandfather on the ship coming over to Canada. They were married in Ontario Canada in 1920. Then sometime after that they came to the United States via Niagara Falls New York. My grandfather was from Armeniana.

Anyway thanks for all your hard work on this great blog.

    15. Hello Pauline,

Caterham is roughly 50 minutes drive to London, How interesting to hear you have relatives from Buckinghamshire :)

    16. Pauline California3 February 2013 at 04:54

Charlotte- Thank you for the information. How far is Buckinghamshire from London? My sister & brother in law visited England a few years ago. They were able to find some great information on my grandmother's side of the family. They even went to the cemetary where her family is buried. And since I am the research specialist I have been research our family.

Anyway thank youfor the help. And again for all your hard work on this blog.

    17. Pauline California3 February 2013 at 04:56

@Sarah from California- Thank you for the nice break down on the names. It really is nice the way you did it.

  16. Thank you all very much for your comments :)

It's great to have some news to report even without pictures. January was an exceptionally quite month, I think the quietest one yet but February will be business as usual. We should of engagement plans very shortly.

  17. Thank you so much for this post, dear Charlotte. It has been a hard week for me, but this blog takes my worries away :) I did take a look at "Kate Middleton for the Win" and it really is HILARIOUS, so funny! Made me laugh, loved it.
    Have a nice weekend :)

    1. You're very welcome Z. I'm sorry to hear you've had a difficult week, a couple of other commenters actually said the same. Thankfully it's Friday and everyone can relax and unwind for the weekend. It's also the start of a new month and hopefully we'll see some nice weather and of course Kate appearances :)

    2. Kate, Texas, USA1 February 2013 at 15:56

I thought the Vanity Fair Kate LOL's were hilarious! Thanks for adding them to the post! Hope everyone has a great weekend and next week brings some engagement announcements!

  18. It is great that Catherine is back to full strength. I suppose that the fact she has been able to return to her duties 'under the radar' finally puts paid to the whole debate about whether or not she does charity work that goes unreported!
    Louise, Bath, UK

    1. Agreed!finally all the people who were worried about Kate's working status can finally rest! The Kate Lols are really funny, kudos to the person who came up with those witty one liners ;-)xoxo
