Kate and Pippa Make Surprise Appearance at Low Key Fundraiser + William and Kate's Date Night

Duchess Kate made a surprise low-key appearance at a charity fundraiser at the Burlington Arcade in central London last night accompanied by her sister Pippa who took time out from promoting her debut book Celebrate to attend the event.

The Duchess was also accompanied by her adorable puppy Lupo :)

The Burlington Arcade is London's truly timeless shopping arcade in the heart of Mayfair and hosted the Christmas bazaar in aid of the Ormiston Children and Families Trust. 98% of the money received at Ormiston goes directly towards supporting East Anglian children and families facing challenging and often traumatic circumstances. Kate is a patron of East Anglia's Children's Hospices and it is no coincidence she chose to support the event.

The Ormiston Children and Families Trust shared their excitement about the event via Twitter:

A selection of stalls with wonderful Christmas gift ideas, including the Mount Street Deli's Christmas Hampers and signing of the new J Sheekey recipe book "Fish" kept guests entertained and according to those who there it was a very festive event, getting many into the Christmas spirit. Tickets for the event were £20 with all proceeds going to the Ormiston.

It was lovely to see Kate and Pippa together at an event which supports such a worthy cause. The bazaar looked incredibly festive and from reading about it, it was a resounding success. It was also an opportunity for Kate to spend time with her sister at a public event without much press intrusion. From what I can gather there was only one photographer at the event and none of the photos are available at the photo agencies to licence but you can see a nice selection of photos at Pop Sugar.

Kate kept warm in her LK Bennett Darwin Jacket. The shearling jacket is available in Chocolate, Black and Sand for £745. It is described as:

"The Darwin is a super sexy shearling jacket and one of the most beautiful pieces of the season. The full collar and cuffs with exposed shealing combined with a nipped waist makes this a must have. Made from 100% Toscana Sheepskin."

Kate wore her Stuart Weitzman Zipkin boots. The suede boots feature leather lining and have a 4" heels and rubber soles with full sice-zip closure. The boots are currently available in black at 6 pm for $381 (includes a 40% discount) The Duchess is a big fan of the brand and previously wore the boots during a visit to Copenhagen.

Kate also wore a polo sweater and a poppy on her lapel.

In other news, William and Kate enjoyed a date night at the movies last week when they went to see the latest James Bond movie Skyfall.

From US Magazine:

'William and Kate enjoyed a casual date night last week in Llandudno, Wales, where they hit the Cineworld movieplex for a showing of Skyfall. The came in by themselves. They didn't have royal protection, or if they did, he or she was very hidden. The couple were casually dressed and they picked up two soft drinks and a big box of salty popcorn.'

I saw Skyfall with my fiancé (twice) over the past week and I must say it is a fantastic movie. If you are considering seeing it I would highly recommend it. Daniel Craig excels as James Bond and the supporting cast including Judi Dench, Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes and Berenice Marlohe are simply stellar. I expect William and Kate thoroughly enjoyed it too!

I'll see you all this evening when William and Kate attend a reception in aid of the St Andrews 600th anniversary appeal. I expect the couple will arrive around 7 p.m.

  1. Yay for surprise appearances! Looking at the Popsugar photos, I never really realized what long legs Kate has!!

    1. Must be the angles, because we have seen enough pictures of her to believe she doesn't really have mile long legs to her height. But she manages looking great always. :)

What a fabulous figure the Duchess has ! I really love her casual style here. But she seems to have been a bit heavier on the eye make-up again, like at the beginning of her mariage. I find it a bit harsh on her, and prefer the lighter use of khôl..

Hope you are well, dear Charlotte, and thanks for your great posts ;)

    1. Yeah it's very convincing that she does recycle her clothes. That's very sweet side of her. :)

Nice pictures---there are others on the "Daily Mail"--but for Catherine fans it's as well not to read the blogs.

    Hi, everyone!
I think it very nice of Kate to support that event, especially because she is a patron of The East Anglia's Children's Hospitals.
Pippa's outfit was simply amazing! The jacket and the scarf... Oh, it was love at first sight ;)
But, Kate... I'm rather disappointed. Usually, I'm in love with everything she wears and her hair is always gorgeous, even when it is a surprise appearence. But this time, I didn't like her outfit and her hair. Especially her hair, it was so so voluminous and big... It is not the way we are used to see the Duchess even when it's a surprise and low-key appearence. . You may disagree, but she looked so poorly groomed. The opposite from her sister.
    Extremely anxious for tonight's event!

    1. How can you say she looks poorly groomed? The photos are so bad you can barely see what she looks like.

So sorry to hear you have been sick. Hope you are feeling better soon. What a nice surprise to see the beautiful Duchess out with Lupo & her sister. Now I can.t wait until tonight to see her with her Prince. Wonder who she will be wearing tonight.

Thank you for this great post even being sick you come thru. You are the best Charlotte.

  9. What a surprise to see the two sisters today! I love Kate's casual outfit, it's so "girl nextdoor": truly inspiring for us all.

I always prefer Kate's style rather than Pippa's. Pippa puts more effort on the details and accessories, and looks older than she actually is. Kate is much more fresh and youthful!

For tonight I think Kate will be wearing her hair up and a new dark-blue dress :)
I'm glad you're feeling better, Charlotte!

  10. Honestly speaking I'm sure Lupo is a lovely dog but in my opinion it is not beautiful... I do not understand why people slobber over this dog ...

  11. Great post Charlotte! Thank you!

It is a little bit silly but when I read these news on daily mail I wondered if she probably have a closet like Carrie from SATC? ;-)

  12. But I don't understand why she took Lupo along to this event? I think it isn't the right place for a little dog...

Totally agree - malls & pets don't mix. I LOVE dogs but why fuss with an animal at an event such as this....luv the shearing jacket. Charlotte, best wishes for a speedy recovery!

  13. What a nice surprise! It's lovely to see Kate and Pippa spending time together and supporting such an important and worthy cause. As much as I usually love Kate's casual outfits, this time I prefer Pippa's - for some reason I've never liked Kate's Darwin jacket.
I also saw Skyfall over the last weekend and loved it! A great movie and Daniel Craig's best one as Bond, I think.
I'm glad to hear you feel better, Charlotte! Hope you'll have soon fully recovered. Best wishes!

  14. Finally we get to see the sisters together!! Maybe this was Kate's way(on a low key note) to support her sister's book launch. Charlotte, please rest up and keep us posted on your health. We don't want you falling sick! We can wait for your posts, but don't stress your health over it :)

  16. I just returned to Louisville, Kentucky from a trip to London and Paris. I saw Skyfall twice, too! I flew to London for the premier (didn't attend just wanted to be part of the London Bond vibe). Then Eurostar to Paris where I saw it for the first time with French subtitles on the Champs Elysee and then back to London and saw it again at the Odeon. What a fantastic trip and movie! It comes out here in the U.S. tomorrow.

Thank you so much for a fantastic website, Charlotte. I hope you're feeling better. I'm still a little congested. I came down with a cold while I was in London and am still trying to shake it.
