William and Kate Depart for Singapore, Plans To Stay in Raffles, Where To See Them + More

Hello to you all,

William and Kate have departed from London and are scheduled to arrive at Changi International Airport at 2 p.m. SGT. For those of you hoping to follow tour events as they happen, is the time difference difficult to contend with where you are? We're seven hours behind Singapore here in London, so copious amounts of coffee are likely to be consumed over the next nine days :) Unlike the Canada tour, today's departure was a private one.

If you are in Singapore and hoping to catch a glimpse of the couple Channel News Asia released information on where the public can see William and Kate with specific times.

The Cambridges will be staying in one of Singapore's most striking landmarks, Raffles Hotel. The luxurious hotel lies in the heart of the city and is no stranger to royal guests. The Queen and Prince Philip stayed there during their state tour of Singapore and it seems a fitting choice for William and Kate.

Mr Pierre Jochem, General Manager of Raffles Hotel Singapore and Regional Vice President, Operations, Asia Pacific, Raffles Hotels & Resorts said:

"We are delighted that Their Royal Highnesses, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be staying with us at Raffles Hotel, and that we are to play a small part in Her Majesty The Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations. Their visit is particularly exciting for us as it comes a week before our 125th anniversary celebrations. In 2006, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh honoured us by staying at Raffles Hotel during their State Visit to Singapore, so to now have the opportunity to welcome Their Royal Highnesses, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in this Jubilee and Olympic year, will be a very special pleasure for all of us at Raffles Hotel."

With a hectic schedule and jet lag to contend with perhaps Kate will pay a visit to Raffles world famous spa?

William and Kate are most likely resting before their arrival and making last minute preparations. Kate will be getting her hair done, changing into her arrival outfit, applying her skincare products (reportedly Karin Herzog) and make up. Amanda Cook-Tucker will be perfecting Kate's hair. Do you have any style predictions? Are you all excited about the tour? :)

See you all when William and Kate arrive!

  3. I would love to see a retrospective of all the Jubilee tours by the royals this year. I do hope that someone thought ahead enough to gather footage for this sort of project.

  5. I am SO EXCITED!!! I think here in the US where I live we are 6 hours behind London, so that would make us 13 hrs behind Singapore? It gives me a headache to try and figure out. I am just going read your blog and watch my news programs I am recording over the next several days. You always do such an awesome job that I know I won't miss anything by reading your blog. I appreciate all the hard work you do. Your posts are always so informative.

    1. I forgot to say that I really hope Kate wears a tiara. I have read it might be at the State Dinner. If it is, will there be pics availble of that, or is that a private dinner?

Hi Rachel- Depending what part of the US you are it could be as much as 8hrs difference. I am in California so I am 8 behind the UK. So when the beautiful royal couple land in Singapore it will be 11pm Cal. time, 2am New York time and 7am Tuesday morning in the UK.

But just think we will be waking up to all the great information that Charlotte will have posted for us fans. I hope you enjoy the tour. I am soooo excited.

  8. Can't wait to see the clothes and the beautiful scenery of Malaysia. I've seen mentioned that there will be some cultural issues to take into consideration for Kate's wardrobe planning. With the majority of the population following Islam, we'll likely see a more subdued palette and outfit choices, maybe longer skirts and covered arms? It will be interesting to see what she chooses!

12 hours is the difference between Brazil (Sao Paulo, to be more specific!) and Singapore!
    Hugs!

  14. Am always delighted to see the Duke and Duchess working together. They are so much more effective as a team.
I echo the sentiments of the Times, Two is company, Three is a crowd. It is well past time for William to
distance himself from the questionable behaviour of his glib but silly brother and from the equally louche behaviour of their mutual set of aristocratic friends. By way of contrast, in all the years they have known each other,
Catherine has never let William down. As the saying goes, she is a pearl beyond price.
Best wishes to them both, and especially Catherine, as they undertake their very busy trip to the South Pacific.
    A vacation it is not.
