Poll Results: Kate's Best Tour Look + Royal Tour Magazine Covers

Hello Duchess Kate readers,

Thank you all for voting for 'Kate's Best Tour Look'! It was very interesting and insightful to see your choices. From the beginning there was one clear winner....

Rebecca English Twitter/Mail Online/ UK In Malaysia - British High Commission Kuala Lumpur Facebook

Kate's bespoke ice blue Temperley won 37% of the vote. The exquisite dress with white lace overlay, three quarter sheer sleeves and flared skirt is a modified version of the Aster Flower Dress from the Autumn/Winter 2012 Collection. The delicate frock is available at Harrods for £1,550. I thought it an excellent choice.

The dress is simply beautiful and Kate looked elegant with pearl pins in her hair and statement earrings. I am in full agreement that this was Kate's best tour look.

In second place you voted for the white and gold McQueen gown embroidered with hibiscuses, the national flower of Malaysia. Third place went to the purple and cream Prabal Gurung dress and the look with the least amount of votes was the pink and black dress the Duchess wore leaving the Shangri-La hotel. It is a piece Kate has owned for a decade and we were unable to see high-res photos, both contributing factors to the voting I would think.

The Royal tour made headlines all over the world and as a result William and Kate graced the covers of dozens of popular magazines. I thought I would share my favourite covers with you.

  1. I must say that I favor the covers that feature both William and Kate.

The Gala Germany magazine cover has the photo with the best expressions on their faces.

  3. That was great fun and has really lifted my spirits on such a miserable day... I agree it was a beautiful dress, I love lace over a contrasting ground. It is so pretty. I actually chose the Beatrice dress which I think looked quite edwardian, it could have graced the sets of Downton. I am now looking forward to the accessories.

    Thank you

    1. Oh I simply adore Downton. The Beatrice was beautiful, Alice Temperley is so talented.

I'm looking forward to the accessories. I'm going to include jewellery, bags and fun items such as the parasol and headdress :)

  4. Thanks, Charlotte, for all your work.

I love all the mag covers, but mostly it's so heartening to see how they've rallied behind the Duchess. I hope she's getting lots of affectionate correspondence from people in the UK (and beyond).

I, too, am a big Downton fan!!! Can't wait for the new season (in the US it starts in January 2013, in the UK it's...pretty soon, right?). Silvia

    1. You won't be disappointed. Season 3 Episode 1 is pretty much the episode viewers have been waiting for since the beginning :)

I've heard William and Kate are huge fans too. No doubt watching it in Anglesey at the moment!

    1. It was very enjoyable. It focused a lot on behind the scenes, the presenter toured a lot of the places they visited. It's not on youtube yet but I'll post it once it's available.

Charlotte you are the best. Again you helped us fans get over the withdrawals with posting such beacutiful pictures of the Duchess & her Prince. These magazine covers of Catherine & William are just breath taking. So much love just shows in their eyes. I love the 3 Hello covers the best. In one she is a goddess, just so beautiful. The other two just shows the love they have ofr each other.

This has nothing to do with the tour but I have to ask. I have read where William wants to go join Harry on the front lines in the war zone. Why would they send both to fight and possible get killed. Doen't make any sense to me. I bet if this is true the Duchess is not a very happy wife. William need's to stay home and make babies with his wife. Not go fighting with his brother. I hope the Queen & charles put their foot down and say a big NO.
    what ar you hearing there?

Thanks again for this great blog and all the hard work you put in during the tour.

    1. Hello Pauline!

There is quite simply no way the future King would be sent out to the front lines, William will continue to work for the RAF but it's a safe job. I do feel for Harry and all the soldiers out there on the front lines, so sad the situation is ongoing in 2012.

    2. Pauline,
William did want to fight in Afghanistan, but he was told definitely not. That is why he chose to train for Air Sea rescue as the one thing they would allow him to do.

  9. Well chosen! I voted for this dress too. :))
Charlotte, may I ask what is going to be the next step for the royal couple. Do you know if they are moving to Kensington soon? Are they becoming full time royals the next year...?
    Big hug

    1. At the moment William and Kate have returned to life in Anglesey. William is working as a search and rescue helicopter and Kate will be looking after the house and I would imagine privately volunteering with the scouts. It's a much needed break after what was a very hectic and at times stressful tour for them. I would think they are walking Lupo on the beach, enjoying nights in watching tv and having homecooked meals. Very much their idea of a perfect night in.

As far as I know William has not made any decisions regarding his future with the RAF. Another three years is definitely on the cards, possibly in Scotland and after what happened with the press recently I'm sure it's a favourable option but given Prince Philip's health problems I would think they are given strong consideration to becoming full time royals. I believe they will move into their apartment next year, only part time if William continues with the RAF.

I sure hope William decides to extend his RAF duties. This will still give them the privacy they like and will need if they have their baby next year. With what has happened to his Duchess, I am sure William will be extra protective of her. And make sure that her security team is beefed up. He has to feel really hurt that he let his Duchess down but it was not his fault. They are one very classy and beautiful couple.

And, I dare say, it won't be long till we hear the patter of tiny (royal) feet... ;))

    4. A move to Scotland would certainly be interesting and fun for the couple, especially since it's where they met and spent happy years in school. Although I wonder if that would be a little politically complicated since Scotland is voting on independence in 2014? But I'm an American so I'm not really up on the politics of all that - maybe some of the Brits here can speak to that. But I really like that Will and Kate have had the opportunity to live in other places in the UK in these years; I think that will really serve them as future King and Queen and was a good decision on their part.

I also hope we'll hear the patter of tiny royal feet in the next year!!

  11. Thank you so much, Charlotte, for keeping the withdrawal pains manageable! I agree with your analysis about William not going to Afghanistan. I'm surprised they let Harry go, especially since Kate and William have not yet produced an heir.

  12. Beulah dress was a beautiful dress and a " message" dress on this kind of country.
