Kate Recycles Trooping Erdem Dress For Friends Wedding

Duchess Kate watched her father give away family friend Thierry Kelaart in St Bartholomew's Church near Henley-on-Thomas in Oxfordshire today (apologies for the delay in publishing today's post I was away all day).  Michael Middleton stood in for Thierry Kelaart's late father and looked quite at ease. In April 2011 he gave Kate away at Westminster Abbey with the eyes of the world watching so no doubt this was a less daunting affair. Carole and Pippa also attended the wedding. Thierry tied the knot with Patrick Heathcote-Amory, a relative of Tory politician David Heathcote-Amory.

Unfortunately the photos are not available to licence from the agencies therefore I cannot post them however you can view them all at the Daily Mail and Lehitkuva.

A source at the Church told the Daily Mail:

'It went very well. I'm aware the Middleton's are very, very old family friends of the bride. The wedding was lovely, absolutely lovely. I'm not sure why Michael Middleton was chosen to give the bride away but I know her father has passed away'.

Kate looked elegant in the bespoke Erdem dress she wore to Trooping The Colour in June.

A look at the embroidered floral motif.

Kate wore a soft grey hat by milliner Jane Corbett (with many thanks to Kathleen) Jane described the hat as 'one of her favourite pieces' on her wonderful blog.

A closer look at the hat in the making.

Kate wore the Azuni London Disc Stud Earrings With Drop Stones she wore during the royal tour. They are available for £22.50.

The Duchess completed the look with her LK Bennett Sledge Pumps.

Pippa also looked lovely in the Temperley Aurora Satin Lace Dress and a hat from Edwina Ibbotson Millinery and Carole wore a knee length white dress with a matching jacket. What did you all think of the Middleton ladies' looks today? Lovely to see the family together, no doubt a wonderful chance to catch up after the tour.

  1. A perfect, understated choice for a friend's wedding.

  2. Completely agree. Again we see Kate recycling for a wedding in order not to overshadow the bride. Stunning choice. Pippa and Carole also looked lovely.

    1. I'm with you... this was probably my least favorite of her dresses this year so I was not thrilled to see it make a reappearance. (Then again, if I had a dress made just for me, I'd probably get as much wear out of it as possible.) Really like the hat though!

Glad to see you back Charlotte - you're usually so quick I was a little worried that something had happened to you! Cheers :)

  4. It must be very difficult for Kate not to overshadow anyone! But I give her credit for trying hard. I'm sure the bride appreciated her efforts.

  5. All the Middleton women looked fabulous. Kate's dress is so elegant and I love Pippa's dress. One thing I wondered about on the tour through was the absence of any Issa outfits. Issa used to be so closely identified with Kate but I don't recall her wearing anything new from them in a while now.

    1. So I don't know how true this is, but the story floating around maybe a year ago was that Camilla Al Fayed (daughter of Mohamed Al Fayed... same family as Diana's lover, Dodi) had bought out a majority stake in Issa, and since that family isn't exactly on the best terms with the royal family given their past history...

Here's an article that talks about it : http://fashion.telegraph.co.uk/columns/belinda-white/TMG8629636/Camilla-Al-Fayed-buys-Issa.html

(kinda funny how Camilla's hair looks so much like Kate's in that picture!)

Poor Duchess, she is now very shy of the media and I don't blame her. In the pictures at the Daily Mail she has her head down and the hat pulled down over her eyes (at least she was trying). Any idea where Willaim was? I am surprised that he felt good enough to let his beautiful Duchess out of his sight. After all those photos, he is not real happy but maybe he felt ok with the idea that she was going to be with her family. And there is really not many photos of the Duchess.

Again thank you Charlotte for the up date on teh Duchess. Can't wait until the 9th of OCt.

    1. Sorry but the Duchess "does" work with her charities. What makes you think she doesn't?? Just because it is not in the media every day? And you think if she does work with the charities/country she will be a "princess"? No disrepect here but I think you are incorrect. I am not sure where you are getting your information but it is incorrect.

      Delete
    2. I think if she was working for her charities we would know about it!! The Palace are very keen to promote her in the face of criticism , so I think we can presume she is doing only the stuff that appears in the press... Oh and shopping of course!!!

    3. She's married to our future king... Of course she's a real princess!
Charity work, can also take alot of planing that no one ever sees. Someone like HRH would most definatly have done planing,do people really think she has no idea what illness those children have and no understanding of how or what they need to get better. Also let's not forget she is still quite new to all of this it takes time to fly.

    4. I have to agree with Pauline. I have read an article at some point that Kate has read through alot of mail from charities and then doing research on them to help her decide on which ones she wants to take on(and no doubt she still is). I have also read that she has made private visits to some of them. I have also read she will take on more charities in the new year. The Palace doesn't have to report everything she does in between public engagements that doesn't concern the media. We also have to remember that she isn't a full time royal yet. The Queen understands the mistakes they made with Princess Diana and because of that the the Queen has given William & Kate two years to enjoy their marriage and let Kate ease into full time royal duties.

      Delete
    5. We can not forget that William ahd his Duchess are not full time working royals either. There has been alot written that the Duchess does alot of research on her charities behind the scene.

    6. If you love Kate for her style I respect your opinion but don't tell that she is working for her charities. If she had made private visits that is not a princess duty but a commoner's duty.A princess with Kat's celebrity must make visits with the press, because she is using her notoriety for make a publicity of the Foundation. That is a princess duty and please don't think I hate Kate,NOOOOOOO,I want her more working I am sad when the only reason she is in the blogs is her style or her hats, dresses etc.I think she can do more than pose and smile.

      Delete
    7. The Queen never has given two years to enjoy their marriage, it's the press that says that,The Press adores Kate but very soon the press will destroy her if she will be only a fashion model.Because this is press's system!
The Queen is a woman of duty and all the princesses must be like that!!!

  12. I actually like the dress, the embroidery is stunning. It’s a perfect and lovely look for a wedding. Carole and Pippa look lovely too. I also like the bride's dress, it's quite different to what seems to be the norm at the moment but it has a nice vintage touch. And Charlotte, there is really no need to apologize, I think we are all aware that you have a life beside this blog ;) You are usually faster than light with your posts and this wedding was private so nobody could know about it beforehand.

Hate going to the DM page where it is obvious from the comments that a large number of people have sought out the "Peeping Tom" photographs.
If people didn't buy the magazines it wouldn't be worth these people stalking them to get pictures of them in private moments.
A few months ago some of the same people were suggesting the couple were breaking up--I think they are angry to have been proved wrong.

    1. Dear Alice,

Unfortunately, technically the photos are *never* licence free. I pay two photo agencies for the photos on the blog. If the photos I need are not available occasionally I use them under 'fair use' but very, very rarely.

The photos of Kate at the wedding are the property of Ikon Pictures, I almost lost the blog over using an Ikon pictures photo so I would strongly advise you don't use their photos.

Getty Images impose a $1,000 fine for every one of their photos used that haven't been paid for.

I hope this is of some help to you. Your blog is wonderful and it's not worth getting in trouble over a couple of photos. My readers are incredibly understanding about the photo issue and I have no doubt yours will be too. It's definitely becoming very difficult and expensive for bloggers (Susan and Carly have to pay for photos, you'll notice they can't use the photos from the wedding either)

It certainly is tricky. Photos posted on Twitter by royal reporters, members of the public can be used with credit but other than that it is risky. As I said primarily avoid using Getty and Ikon.

Please don't hesitate to email me if you have any questions! I would *hate* to see you experience the same trouble I did over simply not knowing about these copyright laws and how they apply to bloggers :)

  18. I love Kate, and most of her clothing choices, but PLEASE get another pair of nude shoes to wear. I am so sick of these Sledge shoes - there are plenty of other choices and styles out there to choose from. The whole Middleton family looked great...very classy!

  21. Umm...I think this dress is one of the best choices for a English wedding.
I guess my taste on shoes must be terrible as I like those "clunky" SW wedges so these nude pumps. I would have worn them any time when I can. :) I failed to see why Kate had to be different than us when it comes to repeat favorite pieces. She might well just love those shoes, who knows. :)

  22. Charlotte, does anyone know who designed the bride's dress? It is so beautiful and classic compared to all the strapless identical-looking one you see in the States. Also wondered if there is any fashion link to Pippa's dress and who designed Carole's outfit. I think it is pale pink not white and certainly very elegant. Love Kate's dress with the beautiful embroidery, sadly some of the pictures show her slouching a bit, probably not to call attention to herself, but it doesn't do the dress justice.

    1. I'm afraid the designer of the bride's dress has not been revealed but Kate favourites Temperley and Collette Dinnigan have some beautiful wedding gowns which are somewhat similar.

Pippa's Temperley Aurora dress appears to be sold out everywhere at the moment.

    2. In case anyone really misses the naked photos conversations, you could always point them to the following template:

Poster 1: I can't believe Kate got naked in public!!!

Poster 2: She wasn't in public, she was in a private estate with her husband! The photographers who invaded her privacy should be DRAWN AND QUARTERED and their heads should be displayed on the Tower of London like in the good old days!

Poster 3: I would NEVER take my top off on a terrace even if the nearest road was 3 miles away. In fact, I always shower in my swimsuit - better safe than sorry!

Poster 4: I heard Kate is pregnant with twins named Diana and Camilla!

Poster 5: The real travesty is that they were on vacation for the 1000th time this year. I must be the first person to point out that Kate has an awful lot of free time on her hands - has anyone ever suggested that she spend more time on her charitable work

Poster 6: She wore those clunky Corkswoon wedges again???

This blog is wonderful and the comments are (mostly) wonderful as well - here's hoping that your gentle nudge gets the conversation going in more interesting directions :-) Seriously though, great work on the blog and your diplomatic handling of the comments

    5. And I apologize if MY comment was rude. I just wish your blog was treated with the respect and class that you put into creating it. Many of us do admire and appreciate your efforts. Your heart goes into it and that shines through!

And while I certainly understand that people are entitled to their opinions, I do not understand some of the nasty remarks. If you don't like or admire the Duchess, why waste your valuable time on a blog that is dedicated to her? ESPECIALLY on a blog that is the product of one person's time and effort.

    6. I echo your words. Over the past number of weeks a tremendous amount of nasty/trolling comments have been coming in. I've started deleting comments I feel are inappropriate because it just isn't pleasant for the other readers who are here to be respectful and constructive.

Thank you for the feedback, I appreciate it royalfan :)

    7. @ royalfan - It was a joke poking fun at all of the pregnancy speculation in the tabloids and regular media. I must have seen 10+ stories in inTouch, USWeekly, etc, in the past year claiming that Kate is pregnant, and at least one version of that story (ie, Kate and William are planning on naming their first daughter "Diana") got a lot of traction. So, I combined that tabloid claim with the other common tabloid claim that she is pregnant with twins into one satirical comment. What was it about the "humor" (your quotes, not mine) that you found so offensive?

  30. thank you for sharing jane corbett's blog about the hat - so interesting to see the crafts(wo)men at work!

kate: this is not one my favorite dresses for her - waaay too matronly.

carole: speaking of matrons - but *not* matronly - i really like carole's outfit! pale pink with black accessories, and a wow of a hat - very nice! and look, kate and pippa, you don't have to dress all in one color to look pulled together!

pippa: my favorite of the bunch - i love that lace dress! i do wish she had brought a contrasting color into the ensemble tho; dressing all in that color turns her outfit into "beige!" instead of lovey and interesting.

  31. Kate's hat and clutch are adorabe! Although this is not one of my favourite dresses... The neckline is ageing.

  33. When the Duchess wore this dress before, we only saw the top as she was a) in the carriage and then b) on the balcony.
The full length photos show it much more to advantage as it seems to fit better--but then I think she would look good in a paper bag!
Thanks, Charlotte, for the information about forthcoming visits the couple are making---look forward to them.

  35. The neckline of the dress isn't aging and it's not matronly it's just plain ugly. The dress looks poorly made like a bolt of fabric was wrapped around a model and the designer called it a dress.
