Kate Pretty In Pink Strapless Dress For Island Feast

Following a colourful and incredibly warm welcoming ceremony in Solomon Islands, William and Kate attended an Island Feast, given in the traditional manner outdoors, hosted by the Governor-General at his official residence.

Shortly before dinner the Duke and Duchess paid a private visit to the Governor-General and his wife.

The couple looked extremely happy throughout at the event and appear to be having a wonderful time.

Prince William used the occasion to pass on the Queen's warmest wishes in a speech and tried the local dialect.

At their local hotel the couple were given a local painting which William thought a great belated birthday gift for Harry who turned 28 yesterday and a goodie bag for Pippa.

Kate arrived in Solomon Islands wearing a green check-print Johnathan Saunders dress (you can read today's earlier post here) and changed into a beautiful strapless vibrant pink and orange batik prints dress before dinner. Both William and Kate's outfits are local Solomon attire.

Kate only tried on the dress an hour before wearing it, choosing to wear the dress given to her by her hosts instead of the dress she had planned to wear. Ironically the dress is proving to be one of the most popular pieces (if not the most popular) Kate has worn throughout the tour.

A royal aide said

'She tried it on, she loved it and she is wearing it. The dress is from a shop called Island Print'.

The wonderful Brynnan who has been sharing updates via from the tour via What Kate Wore Facebook found out both Kate's dress and William's shirt are by TAV Pacific. Brynnan also shared a photo of Kate's dress in blue print.

Kate wore her $395 braided-leather Stuart Weitzman Minx Wedges. The 4.5 inch wedge sandals feature crisscross straps and a buckled strap at the ankle.

Kate wore her Catherine Zoraida Spread Your Wings Bracelet. It is available for £420.

Kate's pretty Red Sponge Coral Earrings are by British designer Serretta (With thanks to What Kate Wore) Hand made in England using rolled gold chain tassel the striking earrings are available for £36.

The couple have a packed day in Solomon Islands tomorrow beginning with a visit to the Prime Ministers office, a visit to a cultural village, separate engagements and a luncheon before flying to Marau, a remote and beautiful island.

  1. So glad to see them a bit more relaxed today. And they were lovely holding hands going up that massive tree yesterday. Well done, Kate ! Must have been a bit terrifying unless one has a good head for heights...

Love the island dress. So thoughtful and sweet of her to keep it on.

I do hope all this mess with the pictures won't distress her too much when she gets back. It would be dreadful if it triggered a sort of eating disorder. She was so nervous and thin before the wedding. I trust her family and friends will find the right words to keep her smiling. Hope Her Majesty will reassure her too.
For my part, I can't understand how their security didn't spot the public roads so close and warn them.

Thank you, dear Charlotte, for your fantastic work ! We should also honour you with a garland of flowers ;-)))

HI Theresa- I don't think she will go back to eating the way she did before the wedding. They want to have babies so she (hoepfully) will keep doing what she has. The Duchess is looking very healthy right now. She looks fuller in he body, her face and even her chest. She has the support of her Prince, the Queen and of course her parents.

I too don't understand how their security team did not patrol the area and even keep someone post at that spot where the photos were supposed to be taken from. I hope the palace will take a good look at their security tean and make some changes to protect the Duchess better. And I am sure William will do the same. He does not want what happened to his beloved mother to happen to his beloved Duchess.

  2. Beautiful dress, one of my favorite pieces I've seen her wear. There's something so casual and festive about it that brings something out in her. I wish we knew what dress she was going to wear though.

I like that William's wearing slacks with that shirt, a very funny look that still works.

  13. As beautiful as Kate looks in her native batik dress, William seems even more relieved not to be wearing a tie. He must envy Kate for looking beautiful without having to wear a tie! Wonderful blog, Charlotte! Thanks.

Great post again Charlotte. The Duchess looked just stunning in that dress. And I do have to say William looked very handsome. They both looked very relaxed and to be enjoying themselves. And I loved the looks William was giving his beautiful Duchess. He could not keep his eyes off of her. And the same goes for the Duchess, she had those loving looks too. All I can say is they are a beauiful couple and it is nice to see that they are not afraid to show their love for each other.

I don't think the Duchess will go back to her eating habits she had before the wedding. Yes what they are going through right now is terrible and very hurtful but they will get thru it together. This will just make their marriage even stronger. And I hope the palace will look into why their security team did not do more to protect them. Now I wonder if this event will make William think twice about staying in the RAF. They seem to have more privacy on a daily basis when they are away from London. He will do more now to protect his Duchess so we will have to wait and see if this will make it easlier for him to decide to stay in the RAF.

I am really enjoying this tour. And thank you Charlotte for makin git possible for us to enjoy the tour with the beautiful royal couple.

  16. OK, I think William was trying to look down Kate's dress in one of those photos. NOT that he's not allowed . . . but it is funny! They are so sweet together, it almost makes me tear up sometimes. So great that he has Kate to partner him on these demanding trips (and in life too, of course).

  17. Every outfit is terrific, she looks sooooo good in these colors and styles. These images remind me of Kate Middleton days (as opposed to the HRH present).

And, finally, William is a breath of fresh air (finally!!) in a cool, crisp light colored shirt!!!

    Forward march! Love 'em

  18. They look so happy! Wonderful to see that.
This is a gorgeous color on Kate - she should wear deep purple and fuchsia more often.

  19. Yes vibrant colors do fit Kate. William have a beautiful wife.

  20. I really like every and each of her dresses on this tour and especially I enjoy that she (finally) started to use her hair as accessorize harmonized with the particular outfit. The morning turquoise green with the "peter pan" hat made her looking very cute. This bold fuchsia pink is in my opinion one of her best suiting colors (as of every woman with dark hair&green eyes)and the right dress for loose curlied hair

  23. There's quote in one of the Daily Mail articles that says William (who also received a shirt and wore it) told the governor, "I have my shirt on. What do you think? Looks OK?" It's attributed to him essentially thanking the government for the shirt, but I can't help but think it was a little snarky commentary on the recent photos as well :p i like it!

    1. There was also another quote from him that was quite funny. Apparently the press asked William and Kate to pose for some photos, and William replied, "As you asked so nicely, of course." Another joking reference to the photos, I think :D

They said that it was in their room when the got there. So I doubt that it was altered in any way. The duchess looked just stunning as always. William looked handsome too.

  25. On the first photo, where the Duke is eyeing the top of her dress, he looks as though he is scared it is going to slip|

They look so much more at home here---perhaps because they have met the Governor general and his wife before during the Jubilee weekend.

Charlotte- I would like your input to this: Since there has been all this invasion of their privacy and how protective William is of his Duchess do you feel this might push William to stay in the RAF longer? They seem to have all the privacy they deserve while living in Wales. Let Edward and Andrew pick up some of the engagements for PRInce Phillp.

And I bet William will make sure her security detail is beefed up. I can see William going nuts once the Duchess is with child and is out doing her engagements without him. I also feel that he will see to it that once she is pregnant she will not do to much on her own but more with him. They make such a powerful couple and I seeing them together on different engagements.

I would like to hear from you all on your opinions regarding this.
Thanks again Charlotte for this great blog.

    1. Hello Pauline,

I think a number of factors will come into consideration when William and Kate decide whether or not to become full time royals or remain as part time royals. I don't think recent events will impact the decision. Right now I think it likely William will stay with the RAF for another three years as his career is so important to him :)

      Delete
    2. Pauline, I don't think this current situation will have an impact on the number of engagements William and Kate do (but I do agree that he will see to it that security is tight). As far as their schedule is concerned, I believe two factors are key. First, William is not next in line -- Charles is. So it's really unfair for people to compare what Charles and Diana did engagement-wise when they were first married to William and Kate today. I also believe that Diana's amazing star-power and the impact it had on the royal family has a lot to do with the way Kate was "introduced" to it all AND the fact that she hasn't been given a full time schedule.

I have no doubt that the Queen is proud of William and Kate and that their popularity pleases her, but for now they cannot be seen to overshadow anyone else in the family. Just my opinion.... :)

Royalfan- I agree with you. William and Kate should not overshadow other royal family members but it is going to happen because of the press. They have this thing abouut them they can not get enough of the beautiful Duchess and it is not her fault that they follow her every move. And I am sure the Queen and the rest of the family see's that.

    4. Absolutely, Pauline. They have star power that is electric. :)

  27. Kate looks lovely, this is her best look of the tour. Love that she chose to wear this, her hosts have great taste.

Hopefully Will and Kate will grow stronger through all this. She did nothing wrong and should always hold her head high.

  30. I've loved all the clothes Kate's worn on this tour. They look so right for a hot climate, with the exception of the wedges. While I feel bad for the duchess about those French photos, I do question whether she used good judgment sunbathing topless. Know it's very common in France (I've done it myself) but as a member of the royal family, Kate is in a privileged position. She and the prince have been caught before by photographers on their honeymoon and it would seem prudent for her to keep her top on. Doesn't excuse the invasion of privacy but I think she needs to assume a photographer might be lurking.
