Kate in Beulah London & Head Scarf For Kuala Lumpur Visit

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge began day four of the royal tour with a visit to the Asskyakrin mosque in Kuala Lumpur, their first visit to a place of Islamic worship.

Kate wore a head scarf and and took off her shoes before she entered the mosque.

It is the first visit to a mosque by the future head of the Church of England. It comes as anti US protests spread over the middle east.

Earlier this morning the Duke and Duchess opened the Jubilee room at the British High Commission.

Kate was given a bouquet of flowers. Several tweeters noted they looked like a bride and groom in this photo :)

The couple attended a highly musical and energetic musical event. It was a wonderful opportunity for the royals to experience the diversity and richness of Malaysian culture. You can watch a video from the visit here.

The park was was designed by Brazilian architect Roberto Burle Marx. When the park was designed the aim was to 'leave the world a little more sensitive and a little more educated to the importance of nature'. The park features many combinations of man-made design such as water features and natural features such as trees, shrubs and sculptures.

Terrible news for William and Kate today.

Richard Palmer Twitter

A French magazine is planning to publish topless photos of Kate taken during the couple's short break in the Luberon last week. I was shocked to hear this and think it a disgraceful invasion of privacy. Yes, William and Kate are public figures and the occasional candid photo is to be expected but the publication of topless photos taken during a private holiday at a relatives (Lord Linley the Queen's nephew) home is quite simply wrong. No doubt very upsetting news for William and Kate, especially in the middle of an overseas tour. William is not a fan of the media and this will do nothing to improve relations. Needless to say the photos/link to the magazine in question will not be posted on the blog.

The Cambridges will consider their legal options when they are sure the photos are genuine.

  1. I'm loving her look today! Her updos are very popular with us Kate-watchers, and this one did not disappoint. And her sleeves! So sweet.

I am literally sick to my stomach over the news of the photos. Kate did nothing wrong on holiday, and doesn't deserve this at all. I am so sad that she's having to deal with it while on tour. How tough it must be to keep on a brave face when in public all day! It's all so unfair. I also agree with what you said Charlotte, this will not help their relationship with the media at all.

I just hope it's resolved and blows over and the photos never surface.

  2. THanks for the lightning fast update, Charlotte!! Kate looks lovely with the head veil. She can adapt so easily to another culture..:))If there's a video of this, could you post it? Thanks!!!!

  3. Kate has looked ravishing, as always, this entire tour so far. And yes, it is horribly sad about that French Magazine. It disgusts me and I was planning a trip to France next year, I am thinking I will pick another country. I mean they claim to have the strictest privacy rules, but do I even need to bring up what they did to Diana?

Kate and William are a strong team. They will get through it with grace. =)

I bet William is spitting nails about right now. And thinking about what the French did to his mother and now to his beloved Duchess. I agree they are a very strong and very much in love so they will get through this but they should not have to worry everytime they go on holiday that pictures will be posted in the rag magazines. They are entitled to some form of privacy in their down time. I jsut hope that when they get home they will take some form of legal action.

Hello! I feel deeply sorry for William and Catherine. She didn't do anything wrong. To me, it is like someone got into your bathroom and took pictures of you while showering. This is not right. I really hope this photos are fake. She should not have to go trhough such a shame.
I really like when she wears white ensambles. It is my favourite color on her! But I don't like the heard scarf. In my point of view, she is not a Muslim, and this should be respected. Even though I understand the situation.
Thank you for this terrific post, Charlotte.

Ana Yes she is not Muslim but she was entering their place of worship and out of respect she covered her head. And I think if she did not it would be like a slap in the face to their reglion. It is like the Cathoic church used to be, you needed to cover your head before you entered the church even if you were not cathloic, again out of respect.

  5. William not that fond of the media - that's true. He also has always appeared to me in interviews and just in public, that's he's not overly fond of his subjects or anyone outside the tight royal circle. Harry has the much nicer, much more friendly and open personality, he's definitely more the "people" person. William's always scowling and sour-looking.

I loved her dress again today. So far the beautiful Duchess has knocked it out of the ball park with what she has put on. Now a question, why did the Duchess have to remove her shoes before she entered the mosque and William did not. One picture show's William removing his shoes while sitting in a chair in the mosque. I also loved her hair in the updo style.

I am very upset just like most of us regarding the pictures of the Duchess on her private holiday. This poor couple first can't even go on their honeymoon with out having their privacy broken and now pictures of the Duchess supposelly topless being posted. I just hope if these are the true ones that the Duchess & her Prince can take some type of legal action against the magazine. I thought France had one of the best privacy laws in the world. If so how are they getting away with this???

We will get the agrument that they a public people and I do agress with that but they also entitled to some privacy on their own time. We did not even know that they went on this holiday until they got back to the UK. I feel so sorry for the beautiful Duchess and her Prince. William is going to hate the media even more now. He is now going to be even more protective of his Duchess. And when they have their children the media can forget about William being nice to them.

Charlotte thank you keeping us up to date on everything regarding the royal couple on this great tour. I bet the Queen is very proud of her grandson & his beautiful Duchess. But the Queen must be very pisst off regarding the photos. It is not the same as Harry's photos, he did invited some people he should not have. But the poor Duchess was on a private holiday with her husband.

Anyway let's hope she can keep her head held high for the remaining tour. And thanks for such a fast post. YOUR ARE THE BEST!!!!!

  9. I have to commend the Duchess for her choice of clothing especially for this tour. Though some may not be everyone's cup of tea, I think her choices are quite appropriate and it shows her respect for the country. We have to be reminded that Asian countries in general are steeped in traditions, beliefs and various customs. And for the Duchess to respect that through her clothes is highly commendable.

  10. Not my fav dress but she still looked amazing! also shows how sensitive she is to the different cultures!

As for the French magazine, they were on private holiday for goodness sakes. Imagine if you were the one in their shoes and your pictures got taken. William will hate the media even more now...

Hoping that the pictures are not genuine

  11. Loving the look today - I much prefer Kate's hair up like this, it's SO sophisticated. Kate looks stunning today.

Regarding the photos, it is very disappointing and not something I would want to see but I am disappointed in Kate - I think so close to the Prince Harry saga it was very naive of her to do such a thing. Surely there's nothing she would wear that's so revealing that a bikini top line would be a problem?? Kate is our future monarch along with the privilege comes restrictions and for me, going topless is one of them. The press will not change - Remember the toe sucking photos with Fergie? - this may have been France too. I am embarrassed for her and HM The Queen if these are indeed true. I can understand their disappointment but why give them the ammunition?

I don't understand why you would be disappointed in the Duchess. She was on private property, on a private holiday. This holiday was not even posted in the newspaper until they returned home. The are entitled to have private time away from everyone. Yes she is royalty but that should not allow her to sun bath without her top. I am sure if William thought it was not a good idea he would have suggested her not to do it.

I think it is ashame that it is happening now while they are on the royal tour. I just hope she can hold her head up high and not let this get her down right now. And I bet William is one pisst off husband. France killed his beloved mother and now they are going after his beloved Duchess. Let's just hope these are not true photos.

    2. To add to Pauline, they were not just on private property, but a 640 acre estate owned by another member of the family (I don't keep up all that well, I believe owned by Princess Margaret's son?). If you can't expect privacy at a family estate, where can you?

  12. Would it have killed her to wear the blue version of this dress? We've barely seen any colour during this tour. But her hair is lovely and so refreshing from her usual do.

I think she is wearing light colored dresses because of the heat. I understand it is very hot right now. The blue dress would be very hot. And maybe it was not the proper color to wear into a mosque. i would think a lot of research went into this tour, like what to wear and what colors.

  13. Just beautiful ! Perfect elegance... Lovely hairdo. A very thoughtful choice so far in all her dresses. She's doing great. Wonderful to see her charm and elegance.

So sorry to hear of the topless photos. Disgusting... She must be ever so careful : I don't think she can go topless - ever ! Unless on a very desert island. She must be aware of that. She's very private, so she will be mortified.

    4. I have two opinions on this. A) in european countries going topless is more acceptable so, I don't see why in general it is a scandal. It isn't like that haven't seen boobs before. Albeit, yes it is the Duchess. So Honestly I feel this whole thing in that respect is silly.
      B) I agree, with the fact that she was on a private estate and holiday, so being spied on like that is an invasion of huge privacy.

  16. They are a breath of fresh air this young royal couple; she has to wear sleeves in Asian Society and in Muslim culture cover her head in a religious environment...and shoes are considered unclean and have to be removed...females in mosques do not have the same standing as the males...ever thus in that religion. Whether it is India, or the Far East sleeves even a little one is vital. How sad the French appear so insenstive and intrusive...in a private capacity if she wants to sunbathe that is entirely her business....I would have thought after the tragedy of Diana's death actually in Paris that they would have had some sense...the couple must rise above it. Currently the French have their noses out of joint with the UK's very successful Olympics and their own slightly odd newish First Couple and their antics.

  20. I feel bad for Kate. If it is true it was a very naive thing to do, especially after Harry's nude photo scandal, but everyone makes mistakes. Looking at the photos of the place where they stayed, it looks really secluded so they must have felt as though they had complete privacy. I think they will be a lot more careful from now on, and we might see less candid photos of her out and about which is sad for us.

  21. I am French, and although I don't agree with what Closer intends to do, maybe someone should point out that in France there are always two sides of the story when it comes to the British Royal Family: some people like them, e.g. follow Kate's sartorial choices and everything, but many people disapprove of the fact that it's still a monarchy, and that privileges are inherited. Which is very anti-democratic, and very unpopular here. They are seen as completely illegitimate.
So I think that if they believe they can afford the scandal if they publish the photos, it's because few people would take her side on this matter. Basically, being heirs to a trone, they cannot be right. They are considered regular jet-set millionaires, nothing more.

That being said, I love what Kate is wearing, and her hair-do is magnificient. Looking forward to more photos, and once again, thanks Charlotte for your valuable coverage!!

May I suggest that whether or not Britain has a monarchy is up to the people of Britain and not those in France. In this country, staff for the mistress of the head of state but paid for from taxation, would be unacceptable, but is seemingly considered all right in your country.
If you accept photographs taken on private property, then what is to stop those cameras being turned on the bedroom windows of your President, or indeed, anyone on holiday in France

  22. I really love Kate's style but not during this tour. I think she must continue showing her personality in her choises, I admire her because of that, because depite her position she is she. She's following the convention to much in my opinion and she's loosing her "sartorial idintity" at the same time.

I'm so sorry for the photos but she must be more carefull, she's part os the one of the most important families in the worl.

Many thanks Charlotte for your job, you are the best!

  23. I am French too and I don't disapprove of the fact there is still a monarchy in Great Britain or other countries. European monarchies are all constitional and have nothing to do with anti-democratic countries. Others are republics and are anti-democratic countries if not dictatures. So, it is the right of people to choose who will be their head of states be they monarchs or presidents. As for me, I really love and respect the uk and every year with my daughter I am going there to enjoy the wonderful mentality and politeness of the people there, which have become so hard to find over here.

And I would add that not all the French are republicans though they would not admit that statement to be true.

So I am glad that you do not publish these photos dear Charlotte and I feel really sorry for William and Kate if that happens to be true. Shame on French closer magazine for publishing such private pictures!

And please Pauline,I would ask you to not consider all the French as being bad people. When you say that "France killed William's dear mother" that can be very hurting. Is the spirit of the Olympic games already gone then?

Now thank you Charlotte for the beautiful photos of today. They are wonderful as usual and Kate is so pretty.

I cannot help but feeling sad today. Please don't lump all the French in the same group because it is not fair.
