Can you believe we are just four days away from the London 2012 games opening ceremonies? It will no doubt be an unforgettable time for London and the participants. An additional bonus to the games is of course the royals. Duchess Kate will be using her role as Olympic Ambassador to showcase British talent while the games are on (So yes we'll be seeing her quite a lot over the next couple of weeks :))

On Friday, the royals will attend a Buckingham Palace reception for foreign heads of state before the opening ceremonies. The name of the Olympic Opening Ceremony will be the 'Isles of Wonder' and the worldwide broadcast will commence at 9 pm.
'The ceremony will kick off with the sound of the largest harmonically tuned bell in Europe, produced by the Whitechapel foundry, and the stadium will be transformed into the British countryside for opening scene 'Green and Pleasant' which includes real farmyard animals'.
The creative team behind the ceremonies, Danny Boyle, Bradley Hemmings and Jenny Sealey.

Now onto August (I did say we would be seeing plenty of Kate). On August 2, William and Kate will see the tennis at Wimbledon. The couple will no doubt be there to cheer on British number one Andy Murray. Wimbledon is currently undergoing preparations for London 2012. One can just imagine the atmosphere and buzz in the stadium during the games...

On August 3 William and Kate will attend the swimming at Olympic Park. The Olympic stadium certainly does look beautiful today with the sun shining and the flowers in bloom.

Finally Kate and Harry will attend the closing ceremonies on August 12. William is not expected to attend as he will be working at RAF Valley.
It's going to be an amazing couple of weeks with many more royal sightings than I initially anticipated. I'll be covering all of these events and hope to have posts published for each one as quickly as possible. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the events and Kate's fashion choices. Any early predictions? I expect plenty of British designers. Which events are you most excited to see? Keep an eye on 'Kate's Upcoming Dates' on the sidebar for any new events that may included over the games. I'd like to say a huge thank you to royal correspondents Rebecca English and Richard Palmer for sharing the dates with us.
It all kicks off Thursday and I have a feeling London 2012 is going to be pretty special :)

As a former avid equestrian, I'm very excited for the horseback riding events! However, living in the US, I'm partial to our team :-) but will certainly enjoy watching Zara, and the rest of the competitors as well.
ReplyDeleteSo exciting !great post Charlotte!:)
ReplyDeleteHoly crap that's a lot of engagements! Very excited for the Olympics as well
ReplyDeleteYay can't wait! Thanks for the info Charlotte, you're the best!!
ReplyDeleteWOW! For all the Kate sightings alone, I'm glad in retrospect that London for 2012! (Yes, I'm shallow :p)
ReplyDeleteThat Hello Magazine might as well rename itself the Kate Magazine considering how often she ends up on their covers!
-Sarah
I suspect we may see some McQueen in there! Kate seems to like their pieces, so do I! :) and I'm looking forward to the Olympics as a whole I can't wait to see the Olympic opening ceremony on friday! Fingers crossed it all goes according to plan! And yes I agree it is a lot of engagements but I'm sure Kate will take it in her stride and enjoy it! After all it probably is a once in a lifetime opportunity can't see the games coming here again any time soon :) thanks for the updates
ReplyDeleteGrace
Can't wait for it all to begin. Looking forward seeing William,Catherine, and Harry at the events. But I admit I will be rooting for the USA. ROBIN,INDIANA,USA
ReplyDeleteThey are not visiting the olympic volunteers, the Games makers?
ReplyDeleteNot attending any sort of reception or anything? just sport?
The Palace released those dates today, so that's definitely it for the moment. Perhaps receptions etc will be announced at a later date.
DeleteThe announcement states that they hope to meet as many volunteers in the athletes' village as possible.
DeleteWhat a nice surprise, I didn't expect that we could see Kate so often during the Olympics. I'm looking forward to the Games, it will be an exciting time! Concerning the sport, I'll be neutral, as my country, Austria, is certainly much much better at Winter Olympics than at Summer Olympics, so I just hope we will see nice and fair Games :)
ReplyDeleteHello! So excited about the Olympics! I loved to see all those engagements but I was expecting to see some football or voleyball in her schedule because these are my favorites!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I will be cheering for my beloved Brazil! But I gotta say I sympathize with Team GB!
And Charlotte, will you watch any sport at the stadium?
Thank you for keeping us posted!
Hugs to everyone and, of course, good luck to your teams!
Thank you Charlotte for a great post. And bring us up to date on all of the royal engagements during the Olympics. I am excited to see William & his Duchess together. They make such a great team. Since I live in the US I will be pulling for our team but I do love the young royals. They will bring so much to the games.
ReplyDeleteThey will sure be busy for the next two weeks but just think of all the great pictures we will get to see.
The games bring back great memories for me. Since I live around the Los Angeles area, in 1984 when the games were here my family and a bunch of friends got to attend the soccer finals. It was something my boys still talk about.
People that get to attend any of the sporting events will have a great time no matter who wins the gold. So let the games begin.
You're gonna be a busy gal too!! Ill be visiting yr site even more often than I already do! ! So wish I could be in london for this

Hannah I'm sure your blog will be *wonderful* when you are old enough to start it :)
DeleteThank you for your lovely comments.
ReplyDeleteI will be busy but it's the *perfect* time for it. College is out for the summer and I'm working from home so can choose my own hours a little (around the Olympic events) :)
I would absolutely lovely to see some of the games but I'm spending the summer with my fiancé away from England, however I will be watching very closely. It's going to be amazing.
I don't think I've seen such a buzz since the Canada tour. What do you all think?
I forgot to add, Prince Harry will be viewing the volleyball, I can't say I'm surprised :)
ReplyDeleteWow! As much as I'd LOVE a pregnancy announcement, I hope for her sake she isn't!! Can't imagine dealing with morning sickness and all these engagements.
ReplyDeleteOn a side note, I was in London (from CA) all last week and hit Kings's road shops hoping to get a Kate sighting in... No luck, but it was pretty fun to stroll by te Richard Ward salon, shop Zara, LK Bennett, Riess and Whistles where she shops. They even have a KiKi McDonald across the street!
Thanks C!
Tracy
I hope you had an amazing time in London. Kings Road is always a great place to spend the afternoon. Kate reportedly spends a lot of time shopping there, perhaps next time you'll see her :)
DeleteWell Done this is the go to blog nobody has the information you have it is quite incredible. Well Done you. I used to live just off the Kings Road very close to where Kate and now Pippa lives. The famous people have always been there! Lots of llove to you well done. Donna
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Donna :) Living close to the Kings Road sounds just lovely, plenty of shopping and sightings!
DeleteDon't get your hopes up too much when it comes to clothes. Guessing GB olympic kit a lot.
ReplyDeleteI don't think the Duchess will be wearing to much of the Olympic clothes. I think she will wear things that go along with the Olympic spirit. I hope we she her dressed down, meaning slacks and a nice top. But we know how the Duchess loves her dresses so I might be wrong.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the beautiful Duchess & her Prince at the Olympics. Now let's hope the TV station NBC will give us shots of them in the stands/royal box.
LET THE GAMES BEGIN
Thanks Charlotte for the wonderful updates. Can't wait to see what Kate wears at the opening ceremony-what an awesome way to start the weekend!!:))
ReplyDeletethe start of kate and her prince william will make a speech

Thank you so much for the link :)
DeleteKate has an engagement tomorrow morning so I'll include tour info in that post!
I'm so excited to see all of her outfits! Just have one question. Often when I try to view old posts ( I didn't discover this blog until recently) it says that the page I was trying to view does not exist on this blog. Why is that ? I would like to be able to see Kate's looks even if they are old.( This usually happens when I try to click posts under : You might also like:. Thanks for all your posts ! Please see if you know why this happens!:)
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately I had to close the blog a while back and the 'search' box hasn't worked properly since. If you click on the 'blog archive' on the sidebar you should be able to see them :)
DeleteJust let me know if there's any specific pots/events and I'll link them :)
The same thing happens to me all the time! It was so sad when you had to close the blog!
DeleteIt certainly was Ana. B. I'm only *delighted* everything was sorted so quickly and we were able to move forward. I say 'we' as this blog is as much all of yours as it is mine :)
DeleteThanks so much for your response!
Deletethanks for letting me know why it wouldn't work . Your very helpful . I love Kate mostly because all her looks are so modest. Thanks for all your help. Sophie
DeleteYou're very welcome! I just had a look at the 'search box' and it doesn't seem to have indexed all posts before May so do check out the 'blog archive' which works perfectly :)
DeleteSo exciting! Again and again thank you for all this information, dear Charlotte and also for your fantastic blog! I simply can't wait to see Kate with her prince and also Harry of course.
ReplyDeleteBest regards from the South of France!
Thank you so much for your lovely words :)
DeleteHi charlotte, do you know if tomorrow's engagement is a private or public one? Are we likely to get photos? Hope we can :) very excited to see lots of Kate appearances over the next few weeks!
ReplyDeleteHello :)
DeleteThere are two engagements tomorrow. About 11.30 a.m. William, Kate and Harry will visit St. Beacon's to launch a programme and in the evening they will view the Olympic torch at Buckinghmam Palace. We should definitely get photos from both. I'll have a post ready as soon as photos are available :)
