William's 30th Birthday, Summer Sales and More

Good evening Duchess Kate readers,
Prince William celebrated his 30th Birthday yesterday with a low key dinner in Prince Charles' Tetbury home Highgrove House. William has been undergoing a three day Search and Rescue course at a nearby base in Gloucestershire. It is thought the Prince invited his closest family and friends to celebrate. Prince Charles commissioned artist Nicky Philips to paint a portrait of Kate as a special gift for his eldest son and Kate reportedly gave William a watch and treated him to breakfast in bed.

Kate was spotted shopping in Tesco, Tetbury, perhaps for William's birthday meal? Many locals were disappointed to have missed catching a glimpse of the Duchess.

Singer Lily Allen's reaction to seeing Kate was simply 'Wowsers' :)

It is being widely reported Kate will throw William a bash tomorrow night and will make a speech. It is difficult to gauge the veracity of this rumour but if it's true there's always a possibility we will see a photo or two :)

I don't know about you but one of my favourite things about summer is the sales. The Reiss sale began earlier this week and features countless items which are 'very Kate'.

Reiss

LK Bennett shared a photo of their shoe display from their Brook Street store when announcing their sale. There is up to 50% off selected items at the moment and Kate's favourite Sledge are reduced from £185 to £145 in off white.

The Temperly sale features amazing reductions on everything from shorts to stunning evening gowns.

The Oasis sale is well worth a look. I've been incredibly impressed by their latest collections and ability to provide excellent quality at reasonable prices.

Take a look at the Topshop sale here.

A number of items in Jenny Packham's Debenhams Collection are currently on sale.

Kate's Malone pumps (along with many pairs of gorgeous shoes)  feature in the Rupert Sanderson sale. They are available in caramel. I'm sure you all recall Kate wore them in grey suede.

Happy Shopping :)

A lovely photo of Kate and the Queen from their Nottingham visit graces the cover of Hello! Magazine this week.

Hello
The couple did not attend Royal Ascot during the week and are not expected to tomorrow. Unless new photos surface we'll continue with our 'Kate Loves' series next.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend :)

Great post! :) Do you think we will eventually get to see the painting of Kate, or will it be kept private?

  3. It would be wonderful to see the portrait of Kate but for now there are no plans to allow the public to see it. I'm sure it's lovely, would love to know what Kate's wearing!

Also eager to see if there will be a bash for William tomorrow.

  4. Thank you for another wonderful update, Duchess. :)

I hope I'm wrong, but I have a feeling we won't see the portrait if it is a birthday present. :( But I will pay more attention to William's wrist going forward. LOL.

William is 30 and I feel very old all of a sudden. ;)

  6. Royalfan - It would be lovely to see it but I do completely agree with you, the portrait was a private gift, nothing official so I doubt we will see it. However Kate will have an official one don shortly.

The Hello photo is simply priceless!

  7. That was so romantic! Kate serving him breakfast in bed! :)) I wish we could see the sale items in other countries of the world, I particularly liked the crystal flower hair clip from Jenny Packham. 1. Hello Fiona, Kate's are light taupe. The off white are on sale while the light taupe appears to have increased in price by £10 in the last couple of weeks.

Great post. I TOO WISH WE WOULD GET TO SEE THE PORTRAIT OF THE BEAUTIFUL DUCHESS BUT AGAIN IT WAS A PRIVATE SITTING FOR HER BELOVED PRINCE.
I DON'T THINK WE WILL SEE MUCH OF THE DUCHESS UNTIL THE 5TH OF JULY AND THEN NOT UNTIL THE 26TH.
    WHAT IS YOUR FEELINGS CHARLOTTE?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Pauline I do not think we will see the portrait to be honest at least not in the foreseeable future. Nothing schedule for the couple until July 5th but you never know when photos will surface.

I'm feeling quite confident we will see William and Kate at an Andy Murray Wimbledon match.

  11. Hello Charlotte!

Thank you for your terrific work on the Duchess. I follow you for quite a while and almost every day.
Today I heard of the fact that the Queen changed the Order of Precedence: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/theroyalfamily/9351571/The-Queen-tells-the-Duchess-of-Cambridge-to-curtsy-to-the-blood-princesses.html
What do you think of that? Is this a way of showing dissaproval for Kate? Or just a matter of protocoll? Thanks for telling us your opinion.

    Veronica

  12. Veronica thank you for your kind words and for following the blog.

Personally I think, Kate is going to be the Queen Consort someday and is married to the future King, therefore I don't agree she should have to curtsy to Beatrice and Eugenie when she's not accompanied by William. It's protocol I'm afraid but I can't say I fully support it.

If you'd all like I could do a post on it including some info on the protocol and the latest updates, perhaps a discussion topic?

    ReplyDelete
  13. That is the most adorable photo of the Queen I've ever seen. Love it! Re: the new protocol, I wonder if the Palace is looking ahead to when Harry marries and trying to head off any potential controversy about precedence regarding that [unknown at present] young lady -- in other words, to get the rules straight now rather than waiting?
