William and Kate Attend the Wedding of Princess Diana's Niece

William, Kate and Harry attended the wedding of Princess Diana's niece, Emily McCorquodale and James Hutt today. The bride is the daughter of Diana's elder sister Lady Sarah McCorquodale. Lady Sarah is reportedly the member of the Spencer family to whom the Princes are closest.

The wedding took place at Church of St. Andrew and St.Mary, in the Lincolnshire Hamlet of Stoke Rochford where the bride grew up on a 1,000 acre farm.

A look at the church.

Parishes Lincolnshire

The couple spent quite a while outside meeting and greeting with guests and relatives. It was a lovely opportunity for the Princes to spend time with their mother's family and for Kate to get to know them.

We regularly see William with his hand on Kate's back, It's a very supportive and romantic gesture.

Kate chose to recycle a number of her most beautiful pieces today beginning with the Katherine Hooker Buxton Coat she wore to the Order of the Garter ceremony last year. I think the Buxton is one of the most classic piece Kate has worn and I was hoping she would recycle it. The made to order skirted coat is available for £795.

Kate teamed her coat with the hand-painted chinoiseire silk 'De Gournay' Jenny Packham dress she wore to a polo match in Santa Barbara last July. The dress is from the Spring/Summer 2011 collection.

Kate recycled the £99 Whiteley hat she wore to the Epsom Derby last year. Kate wore her hair half up in a plait around the crown of her head. A stunning look for Kate who favours wearing long hair down whilst wearing a hat.

Kate carried her Hobbs Invitation Greta Patent Clutch. The Italian made, patent bag is available in numerous colours for £110.

Hobbs

The Duchess accessorised with a pair of Diamond and Pearl Earrings by Heavenly Earrings. (I must say a huge thank you the wonderful Anna from My Small Obsessions who put a huge amount of work into identifying them) Interestingly the earrings are actually fakes and cost £48. They are currently sold out but if you wish to purchase them there is a waiting list.

Kate chose her £185 LK Bennett Sledge shoes to complete the look. I read a couple of articles in the press this week criticising the Duchess for wearing the Sledge pumps so often. They are clearly comfortable and the colour will work with almost anything. We all have a favourite pair of shoes in our wardrobe!

LK Bennett

I thought the entire look worked excellently. Kate wore elegant, timeless pieces but chose to recycle. Perhaps in order not to overshadow the bride? What did you think of Kate's look today?

We'll finish tonight's post with a photo of the bride and groom. Emily attended the royal wedding last year and obviously took inspiration from Kate's gown. Emily looks beautiful, lovely to see such classic wedding gowns popular again.

What a nice surprise to see the beautiful Duchess & her handsome Prince at the wedding. It was nice to see that at something to do with his beloved mothers family. I loved the picture of William with his hand on his beatuiful Duchess back. He must be so proud to introduce her to members of his other side of the family. I know she might have met some of them but others not.
I love the dress and coat she wore today. I looked at it and thought wow it was the dress she wore to the polo match in California last summer and then the coat was woren last year too. I am not much of a clother person so it really shocked me that I remember where she wore these clothes.

These pictures and the ones from yesterday should put to rest the people who think there is problems in their marriage. They can not be more in love, you can just tell by William's actions.

And Charlotte thanks again for bring us fans up to date with all that has been going on with this beautiful couple.
Who is the gentleman kissing the Duchess? She look's kinda taken back by it.

  4. Been having Diamond Jubilee withdrawals lately, and it's a nice surprise to see them out and about. Kate's hair looked stunning and I have to say, her hair really is that gorgeous in person, as I got a chance to see her during the diamond jubilee carriage procession. She also had gorgeous skin to boot! She and Wills look lovely together. Hoping for more unexpected appearances!

  5. Kate looks beautiful as usual!

Her hat is the same hat she wore to the Epsom Derby last year.
    Thanks for the pictures!

  7. Now THAT is perfect. She looks beautiful, classy, appropriate (nothing too showy to outshine the bride) and she is recycling a ton. My prayers have been answered! :P

  8. No body is suggesting that she wears new shoes every time she steps out. Those shoes are just plain ugly. The color is gross. That is all.

Kat, if her skin really was 'gorgeous' she wouldn't cake foundation and blush on the way she does.

Otherwise, I am very pleased she rewore all these clothes. She virtually never wears anything new to a wedding, and I hope she 'recycles' on official functions more often as well. The Queen has worn some of her clothes 6-7 times, and Kate needs to take note.

You sound very rude. It is not because she has beatiful skin that she wouldn't ever put some foundation or blush. Some girls, including me, put make up on because you can get a lot more secure, a very high self-esteem. And once you're in her position, I bet you would like to be confident as well. If people keep complaining about her much-loved shoes, I can't imagine what would be said if she did not put any make up.

      Delete
    2. But she doesn't just put 'some foundation or blush', she puts a massive amount on. If she was so confident, she wouldn't be hiding behind her security blanket (hair) 90% of the time. The last time I checked, confidence means having the courage to try new things and take risks, which is something she doesn't do with her clothes, hair, accessories, or make-up.

Where is the malice is WANTING her to look better and make smarter decisions?

      Delete
    3. Calm down girl, you appear to have a problem accepting opinions that are different from yours.
Who cares if she likes her hair? And who are you to say that her hair is a security blanket? If that is what you think, please, stop trying to make people agree with you!

      Delete
    4. Leave the Duchess alone!! There are lots of people out there who actually like her figure! And by that I mean, her makeup, hair, clothes, shoes and everything!

      Delete
    5. Sienna, am I the first person you've ever heard of who has noticed that Kate has virtually the same hairstyle for every type of event? Nobody else has voiced that her (eye) make-up is poorly applied? She has her hair down if she's giving a speech, playing hockey, and for movie premiers. Those are all completely different environments and call for different looks, not having her hair flying about everywhere and constantly pulling it back.

I am not trying to make anyone agree with me. In fact, I am not the one whose calling other people 'rude' or having a "problem accepting opinions that are different from yours." It seems that her ubber-fans are the ones who cannot accept a critical opinion.

    6. Dear Sandy, if you don't feel the same way we do about Catherine, could you please, tell us what are you doing here? I honestly can't get it! You are clearly not a fan! And this is clearly a fan website. You say we have problems accepting someone else's opinion, but we don't follow blogs where the Duchess is hated and post proclaiming our admiration. People should stick with your equals!

      Delete
    7. Actually, Sandy strikes me as somebody who likes Kate, but doesn't think that absolutely everything she wears is the best thing that's ever been worn. That strikes me as completely normal?

      Delete
    8. I'm sorry Sandy, but you really don't have the same class as Kate. As far as we're concerned, she does seem to have so much confidence, because why in the world would she wear such simple and understated clothes if she knows that they won't catch people's attention? She clearly knows that just herself, without all those clothes, is enough to make people notice her. She also probably wears her hair down all the time cause it's simply the way she likes it. You don't have to judge her just because she likes something and you don't. And just to be clear, it's not just the complexion of her skin I'm talking about, but the also way it glows. I agree with Olivia, last time I checked, this is a fansite for FANS. You are clearly not a fan, so please stop judging Kate and respect us. Thank you.

  9. I really love this remix of her "old" clothes. That little hat has been always one of my favorites of hers...

  10. Those shoes need to be taken away from her. They are hideously ugly and bring down any outfit. This outfit desperately needs a pop of colour.

Not a big fan of this look. The neckline of the dress doesn't go with the neckline of the jacket, and the detailing on the jacket clashes with the dress. This is a bit of a snooze-fest for Kate.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I adore the shoes. They're classy and they go with virtually every outfit. I absolutely applaud the Duchess for recycling outfits. These are difficult economic times for families around the world, including in the UK. Even though the Windsors certainly have no financial worries whatsoever, it still wouldn't be appropriate for the future king's wife to wear expensive couture ensembles only once while the rest of the country is trying to figure out how to pay their bills. It absolutely makes Kate one of "us."

    1. None of 'us' spend $1300 on a hat and $4000 on a dress. Have some sense. There's no need to hype her up into something she's not. She's never been one of 'us' as few of 'us' received our education from exclusive private schools.

@Sandy- I am sorry that you do not like the beautiful Duchess. She has so much more class in her pinky finger then you do in your whole body I bet. All this woman has done is married the love of her life and all she wants to do is be his wife and mother to his children. And all the rest that comes with it. She has done a great job representing the royal family. She can not help that at times she has to spend the money to look good for the royal engagements she has to attend as a member of the family. Before she married her Prince she did spend that kind of money but I guess your head has been in the sand because you have not seen the pictures of her before. I went to an exclusive private college and my family is not wealthy. I sent both my sons to private colleges too.

Nobody is hyping her up, she is who she is. She is a beautiful Duchess married to a handsome Prince who happens to lover her very much, if you haven't noticed. Nobody here claims that she is one of us. We could be so lucky.

For your information the Duchess is a hard working royal, and a loving military wife. She does alot of work behind the scenes of her charities plus helps her Prince with his. So if you do not like her then stay away from this site. The one's of us who visit this great blog love's the Duchess and cares about what people think of her.

      Delete
    5. Why are critiques of Kate taken so personally by you lot? "Nobody here claims that she is one of us." The Anonymous poster above me said exactly that.

Kate is not a 'hard working royal.' When Diana was 30, she not only had 2 sons to raise and care for, she carried out, on average, more than 1 engagement everyday, whilst Kate does 1-2 about a week.

I'm done, despite how amusing you people are.

      Delete
    6. Hmmm...I might not like Sandy's delivery in her messages but I wouldn't call Kate "one of us" either. :) The fact that made Kate so popular might have something to do with her background (commoner, like british sometimes refers) but she's definitely not one of us, any more. She's a princess.

      Delete
    7. Don't worry Sandy, I agree with everything you're saying. I think the fawning over Kate is a little bit weird sometimes - I mean, I like Kate and am interested in her clothes, but for god's sake, you should be allowed to say something like "I hate her shoes" (especially when they are so goddamn ugly).

We can not compare the Duchess with Diana. The royal family including William learn from the mistakes made with Diana. They did not give Diana any help adjusting to royal life and what was expected of her. So when William and Catherine got married and in the interview before their marriage William stated that he learned from the past and would not rush Catherine into being a full time royal. And the Queen has given them 2 years to adjust so that is why the Duchess does not seem to be doing alot but she does. Like I said before alot of her work is done behind the scene and helping with William charities.

And about having 2 children at 30 you are correct but William & Catherine are doing their baby making their way. They will have their children when they are ready. And if you have noticed William does not let the Queen nor his father tell him what or when to do something. William's thing right now is his job in the RAF which he just made captain. And Catherine does her scoting while they are in Wales. So let's cut her some slack.

      Delete
    9. @ Sandy : Mabye Kate is not a "hard working royal" but when Diana was 30, she was in the royal family for 10 years then AND she was the wife of the first in the line of succession. Moreover, her husband was a full time working royal too. Some people should stop comparing Kate to Diana because their lives and positions are quite different.

      Delete
    10. Sandy, please stop comparing Kate to Diana. They are not the same. And how do you know that she's not hardworking if you don't know what going on behind closed doors? Please stop judging because you do not know her, and us.

The beautiful Duchess rocked it today with what she wore. She does not have to buy new clothes for every engagement she attend's. And for those of you who think she need's to get rid of those heels are crazy. If you have a pair of shoes that cost as much as those did and they are comfortable, then I say wear then all you want. Remember she is on her feet alot and some of the heels she wears might hurt her feet. And I did like how she put together this outfit for the wedding.

And Charlotte is there any news on the Duke & Duchess spending both days with the Queen in Nottingham? I just read where the Queen will be there for two days and if Prince Phillips can't be there with the Queen I thought maybe they would stay with her.

  19. I love that coat; it's the definition of elegant and I only wish I had the money and lifestyle for such an outfit myself. (Not to mention Kate's looks and glorious hair.) I love the dress too but those hand-painted flowers detract from the coat and the dress is too long for it! Vastly preferred the hat from the Garter ceremony. Think it's wonderful Kate never wears new clothes these days to weddings to distract from the bride's gown. Such a beautiful, romantic gown too. All those brides on the US "Say Yes to the Dress" should take note and drop those Mao Suit strapless gowns and the ridiculous, fruitless obsession with trying to look as sexy as possible.

  26. The Duchess looks happy and it's been reported the Queen approves of her wardrobe recycling. Beautiful dress and coat but not a great look combined. Love the shoes and she must find them very comfortable. Every woman has her favorite "go-to" shoes. Again, not a super combo as an outfit on the day. I prefer a more natural make-up look and she has the beauty to spare. I imagine if her husband did not like it, she'd have toned down her face paint by now, so he must adore her just as she is. What else matters?

  30. There is an interesting discussion going on here since a couple of days. First of all, I'd like to say that I always loved this blog so much because of Charlotte's great and informative posts and because of the friendly and respectful comments. Unfortunately, I feel that this positive atmosphere was getting lost a little bit lately. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and actually I think it only encourages an interesting and fruitful discussion if not all have the same opinion. But it's not only what you say, but also how you say it. That's the crucial point I think. I can say that I didn't like Kate's shoes or Kate's outfit, but I will try to say it respectfully and friendly. "Hate" is such a strong word... I don't think I can hate her shoes, dress etc., I can only say that I personally don't like it or what I think would look better. That's my opinion. I hope it’s understandable, English is not my native language.
Coming back to the topic of this post, I think that Kate was very wise to recycle her clothes, she didn't want to outshine the bride. I like all the pieces she chose by themselves, but some of them not so much in this combination. The coat is beautiful and classic, but its details don't go so well with the printed dress I think, perhaps a more classic uni-coloured dress would have been better. The dress also seems to be longer than the coat, which you should avoid normally. I have nothing against her shoes, they seem to be comfortable and I think the colour is nice and goes with the dress. All in all, I still think Kate looked lovely, and these are minor quibbles because maybe it wasn't even her attempt to look "perfect", as it wasn't an occasion for her to shine and to be in the spotlight, but it was the bride's day and it's very clever and respectful to act like that.

  31. I feel I must echo Claudia's comments. I absolutely encourage discussion and debate on this blog but essentially it is very important to me that it remains a positive and respectful place. Of course, we will not agree on items Kate wears but when it becomes a discussion about how often she works etc (Something none of us know anything about) and other similar topics it does take the discussion to another level. Basically myself and the vast majority of readers like Kate and this is essentially a site for her fans not haters, so I would greatly appreciate if we could try and keep the comments positive, constructive and related to the post being commented on. Thank you :)

  32. I think she looked great and the dress and coat are a good fit. I wish she would find another pair of shoes, not because I don't like them but because they're boring me at this point.

I too have noticed the negative tone on the site about Kate. In my opinion, it seems that there are those who feel if there's not enough negative comments about Kate that those who have "positive" posts are somehow ignoring certain facts and need to be educated on the matter. Just so you're aware-we don't. We would be just as respectful if this site were about someone who isn't royal. It's about treating people online the way you'd treat them in person which I hope is respecfully. One of the reasons I like this site so much is that we agree and disagree respectfully and don't give in to the common practice of saying things on line that you don't have the balls to say in person. I love to hear all opinions, so lets keep it real and respectful.

I know Charlotte is a woman of great class, she can post everything about Kate (and William) always so polite and I intend to keep it that way. I am a mature woman, I am 35 years old and I know that the Daily Mail posted in this story of William out to Mahiki, quite manipulative, trying to induce that things are not right between William and Kate. I just suggested that the story was posted here to know the point of views of the readers in general. By the way, I would like to say that I'm married for 12 years and I think quite normal for married men, from time to time, go out with his male friends to chat, drink, etc... Kisses

This is neither an economy nor an ecology where consuming wantonly is appropriate. There is enough luxury in the monarchy and I think being as "regular" as possible in day to day life is terrific.

I love that she uses both real and faux gems (so did Diana for that matter). Silvia

  38. Kate probably wears her hair in basically the same style because 1) she likes it and has therefore established her style, 2) her husband likes it, 3) she knows that changing her hairstyle often would invite enormous criticism (Diana did that and was criticized every time, no matter how she wore it), 4) the Queen has worn her hair pretty much the same way for 60+ years and has thus established her "style" and Kate has decided that's not a bad thing, 5) she's playing it smart and low-key, establishing a style that people expect, thereby not drawing attention to herself (everybody says, "oh, long hair again").
