New Shoes For Kate, Plans For Leicester + More

Hello Kate fans,
Is it just me or does Kate's next appearance on Thursday seem like ages away? :) In the meantime plans for Kate's visit to Leicester have been revealed. The Duchess will accompany the Queen and Prince Philip on March 8th to De Montfort University

The Royal party will view the Diamond Jubilee carnival celebrations involving students. Her Majesty and Kate will then be escorted to a marquee to enjoy the De Montfort fashion and cultural fashion show. The Royals will be presented with gifts and Her Majesty will unveil a commemorative plaque to mark the momentous occasion.

Students from the renowned footwear design course have a special treat in store for Kate. Six aspiring shoe designers have each sketched a pair of shoes for the Duchess. The winning design will be made for her. The students were shortlisted by lecturers at DMU from more than one hundred applications.

21 year old Tabitha Duffield sketched a pair of pink and nude heels. She said 'I wanted something feminine and elegant to reflect Kate's personality. There will be laser cut flowers and fringing around the edges.'

Kay Yeng Cheng designed a pair of fairytale inspired heels. Perfect for a Duchess.

Interestingly Summer Spencer was inspired by William and Kate's coat of arms when sketching her design. Very creative.

27 year old Sam Sawkill designed a pair of peep toe heels emulating the English rose look.

Mei Chun Lai designed a pair inspired by the Chinese new year.

Becka Hunt was inspired by the lace on Kate's wedding gown and the colour of her engagement ring for her beautiful offering. These shoes are certainly different from Kate's nude heels. Which pair is your favourite? I'd love to hear your thoughts. You can follow DMU Via Twitter for updates.

In other news Duchess Kate has been shopping in the Peter Jones department store in Chelsea in an effort to make William's wardrobe more fashionable. (He does love his navy suits) Kate is a style icon herself and naturally wants to spruce up William's look.
Kate also graces the cover of Hello! Magazine. They really do love Kate at Hello!, not that I blame them :)

  1. I love Sam Sawkill designed very pretty shoe but Summer Spencer coat of arms inspired shoe is so creative and cool.

  3. Yes it feels like a life time since we have seen the Duchess. Can't wait until Thursday. Looking at the shoe designs, I like Becka's the best. But maybe in a different color. But the idea was great. And I like Tabitha's too. They kinda look like the ones the Duchess wore last June with the bow at the heel.
Maybe this is not the place for this but I do have to ask. Is there any more news on the extra secuirty coverage for Prince Willim. I do not understand why they just don't bring him home before something happens. I bet his Duchess is having a hard time reading all this regarding her Prince.

  4. Love the blue lace inspired shoes, though all of the designs look a little too flashy for the Duchess' taste.

  7. I think it's a shame that the University is still referring to HRH as Kate Middleton.

  8. Royalfan- I read this earlier regarding William's security. http://www.iol.co.za/news/world/concerns-over-prince-william-s-safety-1.1243257

Jackie - I cannot wait, she's being doing a splendid job fashion wise!

Anonymous - It is ridiculous referring to her as Kate Middleton at this stage.

  9. Yeah, I think it's interesting that it was widely predicted by the media that post-wedding, she would likely be called "Princess Catherine" even if it wasn't formally her title. That and the palace explicitly said that she now prefers "Catherine", yet virtually everyone still refers to her as Kate (Middleton). (I'm thinking about the cupcake that little Jaqson gave her on Valentine's day, and the video of Kate arriving for the Art Gallery engagement and everyone was calling her Kate.)

To some extent I think it makes her seem a little bit more down to earth, more relatable to us lowly commoners ;) but yet at the same time, the allure of royalty is why we're all attracted to her in the first place. It's a fine line to walk and I wonder if she will finally start being called "Princess Kate" or "Princess Catherine" when William becomes the Prince of Wales.

  13. Hi, everyone!
Well, I may sound harsh, but to me, those shoes look just awful. I don't think she would wear any of them. I'm really sorry, I'm sure they did their best, but tha't my opinion.
About Prince William and his situation in Falklands, as live in a Brazil, I can say that around here, this fact is not very commented. If Argentina And I'm not sure if he's in danger.
Your blog is fantastic! I read it every single day!

  15. I'm so glad she chose the blue ones, they are obviously the best ones, no doubt she has great sense of style and of what suits her:)

As for calling her a princess, this would be actually a mistake, her title is Duchess, you can only be born a princess, so if Willam and Kate will have babygirl will be one:). Duchess of Cambridge will eventually become Princess of Wales, but, not Princess Catherine. I wonder when The Cambridges will visit Cambridge
    Great blog!!
