Duchess Kate Gets Hair Done and Shops On The Kings Road

I had just finished today's earlier post  when I saw Ikon Pictures had photographed Duchess Kate shopping on the King's Road today. Kate spent over three hours at the Richard Ward salon which would suggest rumours James Pryce is no longer her hairdresser are true.  These are the first photos of Kate we have seen since William was deployed to the Falklands and I have to say she looks as radiant as ever.  (To view the photo please click here)

Afterwards Kate went shopping at upscale food market Partridges. The store offers a large range of products from around the world including wine and american produce. Also specialising in home made food such as freshly baked bread. Partridges is one of a number of select firms that hold a 'Royal Warrant'. A distinguished title awarded to businesses located around London, who provide the highest standards of service.

With Valentine's Day approaching, home made confectionery is incredibly popular at Partridges. Perhaps Kate is sending William some treats, such as these pink, champagne truffles.

The Partridges food market is hugely successful, selling delicacies and seasonal products every Saturday from 10 till 4.

The Duchess wrapped up in her L.K. Bennett Darwin Jacket. We recently saw Kate wearing the jacket on Christmas eve. The £695 jacket is described as
"The jacket is a super sexy shearling jacket and one of the most beautiful pieces of the season. The fur collar and cuffs with exposed shearling combined with a nipped waist make this a must have".

Kate's Christmas eve look. Which do you prefer?

Kate completed her look with skinny jeans, a black turtle neck, black suede Russell and Bromley charge it boots and her favourite Mulberry Polly Push Lock Bag. The bag was selling for €530 (half price) here but has just sold out. The Kate effect eh? Notably Kate is not wearing her sapphire engagement ring, no doubt she values it too much to wear whilst running errands.

I'll update if more photos surface! A lovely surprise to see Kate today and her hair looks fantastic!

  2. The Duchess looked beautiful as always. But has anyone else notice that she does not have her engagement ring on. Just wodnering if she does wear it when she is just doing errands?

  3. Kate rarely wears her engagement while running errands, I imagine it's too precious.

  4. She looks very nice but we are mostly seeing from her pictures while she is shopping. She never worked hard and I would be curious what she is doing her whole day besides shopping, charities, holidaying.
Sorry but there are people hard working out there + doing charity work. It is not an art to spend hundreds of GBP on clothes.

    1. I was thinking the same thing when she was in mustique. Princess maxima from the netherlands is so much more hard working, even when she just maried willem alexander (no time to get used to royal life). Don't get me wrong, i love her!!!! But i would love to see her working or doing charities/engagements more often so people can't say she is lazy anymore. I would love to have a life like hers but i don't think she is being a good rolmodel at the moment..

  5. @ Anonymous: I've noticed. :) She used to wear the engagement ring all the time, but she doesn't seem to do that anymore when we see her doing errands, etc. As Duchess stated, I think it's too precious and she's being more careful with it.

  7. Duchess, I prefer the Christmas Eve look. The hat was a perfect finishing touch for the jacket. I like the bag too, but even at half price it's not exactly a bargain. LOL.

  8. I don't think she looks too good. Her face is tired, jeans are just awful and omg look at her hand. She would look better with 1 or 2 pounds more;)
I hope she wlll look all better tomorrow

    2. She needs to grow up, and eat 3 well balanced per day ! I'm a single parent my husband has been over seas for 2 years. Life is hard just do the best you can !

  9. Royalfan - The cowboy hat really worked with the jacket and the entire look was just so festive and fun.

It would be so exciting to see Kate team up with the Queen, there is also a rumour circulating about a possible engagement with Camilla next month, the source is reliable too.

  10. @Anonymous, the Duchess does work hard. She has been doing alot of thing behind the seens with her charities. The media doesn't seem to care about her work, they just want to see her go shopping etc.

@Anonymous #2, The Duchess might look a little tired but just think what she is going thru right now. Her Prince is away on deployment where he has gotten death threats and I am sure he does not want to be there but it is part of his training to became a captain. The Duchess supports her Prince is all of his duties. She also has her first solo engagement. She is used to having her Prince by her side. I am sure the Prince is a little worried for his Duchess, he is very protective of her. So let's give her some slack.

  14. @Anonymous from Feb06:
I doubt she is hard working. Charity work can be done besides a normal job, look at the "normal people" who are engaged in charity work or have two jobs on one just to be able to cover the normal living costs in the UK which are terrific. I would love to see her working for a real company or doing a proper tough business job. Fact is she never worked hard, her parents did it for her. The real challenge today is to live from less than 1000GBP/month in the UK.
Don't forget there also other military wives whose husbands are in Afghanistan. They are supporting also their husbands. Anyway, she should get a proper job (non-charity work) and try to achieve something on her own without the help of too much money and special connections. Btw, at least William is working. :-)

  15. I don't understand why people have to fawn over her. She is stylish - we are all curious about what she wears. But why can't people admit that she definitely looks tired and haggard and she could use a pound or 10? She was far more radiant and beautiful when she was younger and curvier. Now she just looks worn out and about 40 years old. Princess Mary who is 40 looks much better nourished, and just better taken care of. And they look about the same age !
It would be nice to have a more objective blog on her - not just this fawning sychophantic nonsense.

  16. Anonymous why did you bother commenting and read this blog?

The opinions here happen to represent the feelings of many of us reading. I for one like to read positive thoughts on Catherine. It makes a nice change from the drivel in the papers.

  17. All constructive comments are welcome here :)

Anonymous - There are several wonderful blogs about Kate, please just let me know if you would like the links. This blog simply represents my opinion.

Anonymous 2 - Thank you, I try to avoid negativity.

  18. I agree, i saw pictures of princess mary from her 40th birthday, it suprised me because i thought she was the same age as kate. Kate looked much more healthy for example when she was visiting the royal marsden hospital. She's just returned from vacation.... I think this a good blog (!!!!!!) because its not negative and hating, but i think its a good thing to say the truth, she doesnt look very healthy at the moment. And about the working part, yes, she isnt a very hard working royal but i hope (for her) thats just temporarily.

Duchess Kate, you're doing a fine job and i love your positive attitude!!! But i think its also possible to tell the truth without putting her down :)

Quite a discussion over here ;)

  19. Thank you for your comment Anonymous.

I 100% always tell the truth as I see it.

Personally I do think Kate looks radiant and I don't wish to partake in the debate about whether or not she is working enough. Kate can only carry out duties she is assigned.

The blog is merely my opinion and I love hearing all of yours too!

  20. I LOVE your blog. I read it every day. There are ALWAYS the same group of haters who love discussing how thin Kate looks.

  21. As a fellow blogger. I commend you for writing with such dignity and sincerity. One always feels your honesty in your writing. Readers may not understand how difficult it can be and I know I avoid writing negativity too. Keep up the good work, 'Duchess Kate' is a pleasure to read always.

  22. Oh I like this blog too ! That is why I read it. I did not mean to sound harsh about the "objective" part - sorry it came out that way. I enjoy following KM's clothes and fashion choices, but I do find the fawning comments a bit ridiculous, hence the slightly harsh comment.
I guess that I don't agree with this particular post. I don't think that saying that someone looks unhealthy is negative - to me that is the truth. And it is definitely not "hating" someone.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Anoynymous- You are completely entitled to your opinion and I respect it. You see personally I don't think Kate looks unhealthy. It's a candid photo taken in a very, very cold London.

    Thank you for your contribution!

  24. Here's my opinion on this discussion, and I don't care that people know whose voicing it...

Kate, like all people, isn't perfect. But she is still a real woman and someone to admire.

As for how HRHDuchessKate runs this blog, it's one of the best out there. As an avid fan of Kate, you can take my opinion seriously, as I have read what feels like a gazillion blogs on Kate and the Royals... this one is the best....

Sorry if that offends anyone. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, whether it agrees with mine or not. But I wanted to show my support for the fine gal behind this blog. :)

  25. I just read all the comments on this page and some of you make all these negative comments regarding the Duchess which doing yur homework/research. I do not live in the UK and have no idea where the rest of you live but it is not very hard to research the Duchess before you all start trashing her.
First off the Duchess can not hold an outside job. Her real job now that she is married to the Prince is to support him in his engagements and then get involved with her own charities, which she has just started. And when she was dating her Prince it was near to impossible for her to hold down a job outside of working for her parents. She could not even go to work without having a camera put in her face. I would bet you that her Prince asked her to quit her job at Jig Saw because of all the media and he did not want her to end up like his beloved mother. You got to remember he is very protective of his Duchess and so is the Queen.
So I would say to all of you negative people before you start mouthing off do your research.

  26. Bekah - You're unbelievably kind, I really appreciate all your support x

Pauline and Irene - Kate's official role is The Duchess of Cambridge, She couldn't walk away from that and take a 9-5 job. In time to come her royal duties will become much more time consuming.

Thanks for all the comments :)

    2. I agree with you too. Haters should find another blog. Kate is an amazing role model. Much better than the botoxed plastic celebs we have here in America. Yes she has some pricey items but she deserves them. Her family worked for that money. Kate also seems like such a normal person. If you hate her I am going to assume you have never met her. The main thing wrong with this world is that people hate people they have never met.

    3. Jackie, I agree with you. We here in the United States need more Duchess of Cambridge's here to show the young people how it is done. And as afr as her high price items i.e. purses, shoes, clothes etc. I beleive she is entilted to a allowance from the Queen (or from Clarence House). I read that somewhere. Please correct me if I am incorrect.

  29. Irene - I'm hoping for Collette Dinnigan.

Jackie - I agree with you, because I don't know Kate, I prefer not to make assumptions. From what I do know I think she's a great role model and an asset to the Royal family.

I hope to be on Twitter tomorrow when it all goes down! ;)

  32. I actually think this blog is not all that over the top in terms of gushing Kate-love. There are far more obsessive people out there, and I really enjoy reading this blog every day:)

I'll admit that sometimes I get a little annoyed when I read things on the internet that are all "oh no, POOR POOR KATE, she has to be away from William for six weeks, it's the most terrible thing in the world!" as my boyfriend had to move halfway across the country for work and I've seen him only a handful of times in the last year; you just have to grin and bear it. But then I have to remember that what we know of Kate is only what the media chooses to write about, and I highly doubt Kate runs to the Daily Mail every day going "waaaahhh! I'm lonely! Write articles about me!" :p

Like everyone has said, I don't know her, and chances are I'll never meet her. So from my faraway computer screen, I'll just continue to admire her fashion choices, because there she surely hasn't put a foot wrong.

Charlotte, thanks for all of your work on this blog :)

    1. Sarah, I so agree with you as far as the Duchess running to all the newspapers and asking them to write that she misses her Prince or that they had a fight etc. I too do not know her but I sure would love to meet her. She is such a stunning, beautiful woman. Aslo what I seen while they were on their Canada trip, she is a very quit person. And we need to remember that her Prince is very protective of her. He has even stated that in an interview.

Charlotte- Again I will tell you how much I like your blog and thank you for all the time you spend updating all of us Duchess fans.

  33. Sarah thank you for your perspective. I do completely agree with you about the media discussing how Kate feels//thinks/ No one apart from her could know that.

In terms of fashion, I do think Kate has a wonderful sense of style.

Thank you for your kind words Sarah :)
